  1. Cuneo’s tunnel mouth looks a bit snug, like it’s a just single bore. Great painting though! 😄 Regards Dan
  2. It’s already been done in S scale, by Jas Millham, many moons ago, in the 3rd MRJ Compendium…. I’ve often thought about giving it a go in 7mm scale, but it’s a long way down my list of things to do! Be nice to see someone else having a go though, especially with a video, of the body moving back and forth. (Would also be nice to see another MRJ Compendium as well - No 3 came out in 1997….!). Regards Dan
  3. And very nice it looked too!.... Regards Dan
  4. Talking to an old driver many moons ago, he said the stencil signs started to be painted yellow, from 1963 (following the infamous Winter of 1962/63), as the previously white painted signs, had been difficult, if not impossible to see, against the background of snow. Seems logical to me. Regards Dan
  5. “Get on your feet”, Gloria Estefan
  6. I used to love the 123s and was allowed to sit in the rear driving cab for a few short minutes by a kindly guard, on a trip to Oxford with my dad, many moons ago. I reckon the yellow between the 4th and 5th coaches, belongs to the 4th coach, thus making that a 123 driving cab. By cropping the picture at coach’s far end (more importantly, where the roof ends), I would suggest that the yellow we can see, is the wrap-round element from the cab front. Notice also, the area of blue between roofline and waist and the white splodge, just below waist level, where one would expect to find the BR logo. The same colour combo can be seen on the rear coach too (see original image on page 1), so for my money, whatever the all blue coach is, the yellow paint doesn’t belong to it. Regards Dan
  7. Thanks for the mention John - I did have some window bars etched, many moons ago, but only enough for two vehicles. However, I used one set and gave the others to a friend, so if and when I build another of these kits, I’ll have to fabricate some of my own. Sadly, Adrian will have to as well…! Regards Dan
  8. Hi Nick Yes, I have that book and there is a superb view of the coal stage, and shed environs. However, the elevation I’m most interested in faces north and unfortunately, being a sunny day when the picture was taken, it’s in shadow! Regards Dan
  9. Some more piccies on Reelstreets for your perusal Nidge…. https://www.reelstreets.com/films/last-journey-the/ Regards Dan
  10. Hi Peter. The film was made in 1936 apparently, so it’s definitely not you train spotting on this occasion. What a great place to observe from in your lunch hours though, with all the comings and goings around the shed, coal stage and turntable, not to mention four tracks of main and relief lines, the Windsor branch and extensive goods facilities Slough once boasted. It must have been a real struggle going back for the afternoon lessons! It’s always surprised me that Slough slipped under most photographer’s radar, given how much there was to see and I live in hope that some decent pictures will show up one day, especially of the coal stage, which I have a vague recollection of going inside with my brother, after closure. Regards Dan
  11. More info here…. https://www.ellisclarktrains.co.uk/blogs/projects/all-steel-type-k-pullmans Regards Dan
  12. Screenshot number 8, is Slough loco shed, with the branch line to Windsor & Eton Central, curving off behind. The train is heading west, on the Down Main. Regards Dan (Born and raised in Slough!).
  13. Hmmm, if I’d been playing the part of McGill, they’d have to rename the programme “Totem in a Suitcase”!… Regards Dan
  14. I’ll grant you the vertical handrail is way over scale, but they did go all the way to the gutters originally - I believe they were hollow and thus acted as downpipes? I’m guessing there were issues with them becoming blocked, so they were probably shortened/plugged, as and when they paid a visit to the works. https://rcts.zenfolio.com/diesel/br/dmu-1xx/122/hF463C9A6#hf463c9a6 Looking forward to my sound fitted one too! Edit: I see on the rail blue version a few posts back, the handrail has been shortened - nice one Dapol! Regards Dan
  15. I’d always hoped some enterprising manufacturer would announce a 7mm scale inside framed Siphon G and it’s finally happening! This is bound to be a huge seller and I’ll be putting my name down for at least two Rail Blue examples. Thank you Minerva! Regards Dan
  16. That’s great Mol - one in Bristol and one in Corsham, so much closer to home. Thank you so much! Regards Dan
  17. Yes indeed, but it would be nice to model both at some point, unless Dapol beat me to it! Regards Dan
  18. That’s true and I may well make a visit at some point, but the hinged door version (on the previous page), is up Bolton way! Regards Dan
  19. Hi Mol - I was the original enquirer, so thanks for posting the pictures. Having seen where said wagon is located though, it’s a long way from my home in Wiltshire, so even without lockdown, I can’t see myself making a field trip there, unfortunately... If anyone one does know the whereabouts of one of these wagons further south, I’d love to hear from them please, though with so few built, I realise it’s a bit of a long shot. Regards Dan
  20. Hi Beclawat As the originator of the transfer artwork, I just clicked on my original link and it took me straight to the Steam & Things web site! However, having gone to their home page and copied the link at the top, it now seems to have an additional slash on the end, so maybe try this one?.... http://www.steamandthings.com/ Clicking on “Contents, Products, Transfers”, took me to a list of what was available and BR PMV/CCT transfers were at the top.... I couldn’t see any mention of prices, but I’m sure an email to them would sort that out. Note: I forgot to include any suitable vehicle numbers on the artwork, so they’ll have to be sourced elsewhere! Regards Dan
  21. Thanks for your suggestions and advice chaps - it’s much appreciated. Regards Dan
  22. Thanks Jim, I’ll give that a go. Good idea about the cardboard food cartons too! Regards Dan
  23. I’m thinking about buying a laser cutter next year and was wondering where other (UK), users obtained their sheet materials from? I did try an internet search, but just got swamped by websites of companies that offer laser cutting services, not the raw materials needed! Regards Dan
  24. Those audio jacks are a great idea Duncan - it may well be the solution to one of my own lighting requirements.... Regards Dan
