Not immediately connected with railways but I've had a painting lesson today, where I have learnt of amazing things like acrylic paint, drybrushing and sepia dyes . I think that I've been converted from enamal. It only took me 2 hours from a palin black lump of plastic to a multi colour dwarf, the Discworld figures are not as well painted and took me a far longer time. The Dwarf is not for any railway, althoug I;m thinking of one for him! Bear in mind that the photos are about 3 times larger than the Dwarf, I never spotted the black spot on his eyebrow.

With regards to the pegs on the tender, it might be better to replace it with a screw, my Patriot took a dive tender first and after the inital heart attack an inspection revealed that the only damage was remakably the peg. After being glued on (twice) I decided to not bother trying to bodge it any more and instead drilled a small hole and fitted a screw. That repair still works but the loco and tender are as good as permanantly coupled as the brake rigging obstruct the screw head. Of course you have to mark it accuratly or you will need either a fireman who can long jump, or a loco unable to navigate any corners at all!

Urgh, I am sick of painting models, an Austerity and 6 discworld figures, the Austerity for me and the figures for my mum, good thing her close eyesight is going!

My laptop has been repaired and is waiting to be dispatched, finally some good news this week!

A simple choice for me, a black Sentinel, a black Sentinel or a black Sentinel! I'm leaning to the LNER one at the moment.

Grrr, I waited all day for a courier to colect my laptop for a works visit and nothing, wretched weather.

Mine has been very good from January to September, don't be put off by the plastic cranks against metal con rods. I was the one who had problems with the cranks, so I replaced the first model and I do run it, or I did before I went to university. After the Christmas holidays I plan to bring some of my models and my rolling road to my flat.

Thanks Chris! A BR one for me then, now to decide which one properly. It would be so much easier if the 'household authorities' and my wallet would allow me to buy both!

Will the LNER one be lined or unlined? If it is lined that might be enough to tempt me for an LNER one, if not I'm heading to BR days for the Sentinel, then the problem will be deciding which one I think that it will be the vac braked early emblem for me.

To add some quality northern locos to the thread I'm just about certain that the Peppercorn K1 was running on the main lines in the 80's, however it was in LNER livery (not accurate for her as she was built by BR, but it looked very good!) and numbered 2005.
