  1. Controversial I know, but a return to polystyrene packaging is welcome in this instance. In terms of net CO2, think about the impact of damaged/faulty returns. Discuss…. N
  2. In some of the on line stores now, anyone got their hands on one yet? Rails hadn’t had stocks into their Chesterfield Rd store yesterday when I popped in. N
  3. Answering my own question, a Google search suggests they moved in 1987 and became the London Camera Exchange (dropping their hobby line). So ‘TMD’ appears to be unrelated. They themselves moved following the City redevelopment of the 90’s and are now part of the Antics chain. I remember computers downstairs and models upstairs. Only a short walk from Beatties. Neal
  4. Good issue, the 1958 K’s retailer list is a nice touch. Good to see ‘Super Model Aircraft Supplies’ listed (now Model Shop Northampton). Did ‘H. Salansons’ of Fairfax St, Bristol become ‘The Modellers Den’? Neal
  5. Beyer Garratt, Just sayin….. N
  6. Mine arrived yesterday, and it looks fine, running on BBC DC smoothly. However ignore the Minerva website, this has a Plux 22 socket, not 21pin! I made this mistake, but have managed to locate one. Looking forward to a birthday run this weekend with banger blue Cl 47. Will drop Chris a line…. Neal
  7. Hi E, I reposted this on 12th July, Hope this helps. Merry Christmas, Neal
  8. Just realised I posted this in the wrong thread, never mind!!! N
  9. Too many scales to model….must resist! N
  10. 4-5 mk1’s on, but I don’t have a massive loop to run them on at high speed - hence the rolling road. It is a good point, but most modellers don’t have huge layouts in the context of O Gauge. But if I could get the other half to sign off the garden layout….. N
  11. It’s a good point, they might have graded them as they did with the Gresley coaches, but that takes manpower when you are going through hundreds of.boxes, removing models from plinths, inspecting, test running and re-packaging,,,, Neal
  12. The detail pack including the coal etc was a separate item (delivered late by Heljan) and sent separately by Hatton’s with early sales. I think they have long since run out of these… None were supplied with the Mallard A4 release AFAIK. That said, having tried to fit them to 60009, they were not of great quality and not having them is no massive loss, Sorry that the tread plates are not there, you might ask Hattons if they have spares from returned models. I would be minded to give your model a chance, if the bodywork is fine and it runs well (with the bogie wheel reattached) that might be the lesser of two evils (unless you were thinking of a refund). I have 3 of these models and have been lucky (although I didn’t benefit from the latest discount). All run well, indeed I ran two of them on the rolling road for 5 hours each last weekend with no issue. Neal
  13. That is not an unknown issue, check below all the packaging in the box to see if the plates are there. Easy fix, and if that’s all the issues you have you still have a bargain…. N
  14. A couple of pics from GETS yesterday, the painted one is the latest pre-production sample. Neal
  15. Picked the last one of these up from GETS yesterday, blown away by the detail of this one shot 3D print: Neal
  16. A Class 121 or 122 in O Gauge that would run smoothly. N
  17. Hatton’s used to issue pre-paid returns labels, I’ve used them a couple of times with no problem…has this changed? N
  18. A number of Lenz locos have these features, along with automatic couplings. A&H Models (Brackley) have a host of videos of continental O Scale models. Personally I would prioritise other features (such as exhaust smoke) above ‘pop-up’ drivers. The latter will inevitably compromise cab detail to accommodate any mechanism, and unless the driver figures are well detailed/painted these can look toy-like. If you do get distracted by the videos on the A&H channel, check out the operating crane, very nice and possibly modifiable into a British version….tempted! N
  19. Blacking the wheel rims makes a big difference A regular Sharpie won’t cut it, so I used a paint marker for the drivers when on the rolling road, and the same with a steady hand for the bogie wheels: Neal
  20. Mine landed today, very impressed. There are many many nice things about this model. My model runs beautifully. The coal load is very convincing, along with the brass valve cover. Was there any suggestion that the 4575 would follow in a reasonable timeframe? Looking forward to seeing 5553 at the NLR next weekend. N
  21. To answer my own question, Hattons says 21pin. N
  22. I’ve had a look here and elsewhere but can’t see what DCC compatibility there is. Does anyone know? Neal
  23. These are rather good, a nice weight and good value. Well done Dapol! N
