  9. The panels look grey in this photo http://www.flickr.com/photos/55184015@N00/85274071/ . Geoff Endacott
  10. It might be worth not having the battery box door latches (the so.called Talisman clips) on the small yellow panel version because the Westerns all had full yellow ends by the time of the Ealing accident. Geoff Endacott
  11. A search for the term "Empty Box" in Trains/Railway Models gives a total of 69 items. This http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1e5a51b194 is the dearest! Mind you, the seller has been trying to shift it for more than two years. I wonder why it hasn't sold yet. Geoff Endacott

  13. Whys has this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dapol-KIT-BUILT-CLASS-22-BR-GREEN-DIESEL-LOCOMOTIVE-/200820598911?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item2ec1d7287f reached £55? Geoff Endacott
  14. It's this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tri-ang-0-6-0-Clockwork-Saddle-tank-Green-/360486380942?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item53eea9a58e which is a real wind-up! Geoff Endacott
  15. Rather than read endless comments about the control method, I would be interested to hear how robust the signals are proving to be. The N gauge ones which we have fitted to Avonford look very nice, but also seem very delicate. Has anyone used the Dapol signals in anger during a weekend exhibition? Geoff Endacott
  16. Post now corrected, but the validity of the question remains. Blue livery spanned ten years of the Westerns' lives, but the Talisman clips only featured for approximately the last three years. Will we get two different versions of the blue Western, one with each type of clips? (I know I am being fussy.) Geoff Endacott
  17. Are they going to do a model of the Taunton gantry? Geoff Endacott
  18. Will the blue model of D1005 have the Talisman clips? If it does, that will rather limit the time frame which is can represent. Also, does that mean there will be a later release of a blue Western with the original clips? Geoff Endacott
  19. Did the overhead warning flashes have something to do with steam heating boilers? Locos with boilers required someone to climb onto the roof the fill the boiler water tank. That's why a lot of diesels had steps built into the sides. Electric locos didn't have steam heating boilers so there was no need to climb onto the roof. Perhaps this explains the lack of warning signs in the early years. Geoff Endacott
  20. I think the control system is terrible. True modellers know that signals should only be operated by levers. I can't understand why Dapol didn't do the job properly and devise a system of miniature wires, pulleys and levers. Surely it would not have been too difficult to come up with a 2mm scale signal box complete with working levers. Real modellers could then have operated the signals properly by pushing a fine stick through the signal box window. We obviously have a lot of work ahead to make the five signals which have been bought for the club layout work realistically. Geoff Endacott
  21. I don't think lights are needed behind headcode blinds because you couldn't see whether or not they were lit during daylight. I have been removing the lights from the Somerford fleet of Peaks, Brush 4s, Hymeks, D6300s, etc., because they are far too bright. Why model what you can't see? Geoff Endacott
  22. I thought it was scrapped 40 years ago! Geoff Endacott
  23. I saw a Jay on Saturday - for the first time in years. Geoff Endacott
