  1. I had tended to side with the mother-in-law until I read this bit: "It is tragic that you have diabetes. However, you aren't the only young person in the world who is a diabetic. I know quite a few young people who have this condition, one of whom is getting married in June. I have never heard her discuss her condition. She quietly gets on with it. She doesn't like being diabetic. Who would? You do not need to regale everyone with the details of your condition or use it as an excuse to draw attention to yourself. It is vulgar. As a diabetic of long standing you must be acutely aware of the need to prepare yourself for extraordinary eventualities, the walk to Mothecombe beach being an example. You are experienced enough to have prepared yourself appropriately." That does seem rather unsympathetic to put it mildly. Geoff Endacott
  2. ...and the real D1028, the real D1027, the real D1026 and the real D1025. Geoff Endacott
  3. Off the top of my head the answer is three - D6334, D6335 and D6336. The problem with the Dapol model is that pre-production images show one of the earlier batch with different body end details. Unless the moulding is changed, the answer to how many of the class represented by the Dapol model carried plain green with headcode boxes is possibly zero. Geoff Endacott
  4. It must be one of the rare LBSCR locos which was lettered LSWR on the side. Geoff Endacott
  5. Yes. Geoff Endacott
  6. I have been trying to work out which locos can be represented accurately by the Dapol model, together with their liveries and allocations. Mid 1967: D6313 GSY 83A, D6314 BSY 84A, D6315 GSY 83A, D6316 GSY 83A, D6318 BFY 83A, D6319 GSY 83A, D6320 GSY 83A, D6321 GSY 82A, D6324 GSY 82A, D6325 BFY 82A. Mid 1968: D6314 BSY 84A, D6315 GSY 84A, D6318 BFY 84A, D6319 GSY 82A, D6320 GSY 82A, D6324 GSY 82A, D6325 BFY 82A. Mid 1969: D6315 GSY 84A, D6318 BFY 84A, D6319 GSY 84A, D6320 GSY 82A. Mid 1970: D6315 GSY 84A, D6318 BFY 84A, D6319 GSY 84A, D6320 GSY 82A. Mid 1971: D6319 BFY 84A. Geoff Endacott
  7. I see what you mean. It's quite subtle and I hadn't looked that closely before. That gives us just ten examples which can be done with the D6319 bodyshell. I wonder why Dapol didn't choose to represent the later batch which had headcode boxes from new. That would have given scope for more variations - unless they are to follow later. Geoff Endacott
  8. I had seen your list which is very helpful. I am at first trying to find out which have the correct body detailing. I assume you are ruling out D6317 due to its non-standard headcode boxes. What's wrong with D6322 and D6323? Geoff Endacott
  9. I have spent the last few days sorting out my photos of the Class 22s so that I can work out which locomotives the Dapol model can represent. So far we know that if all models are going to be the same as the pre-production D6319, changes to boilers, vents, etc., mean the model must represent the D6313 to D6325 batch. I am now looking for headcode oddities within that group to give others which must be deleted from the list of candidates. Geoff Endacott
  10. Very soon they will not need numbers because each of them will be painted a different colour. Geoff Endacott
  11. It was still in use into the 1980s. I commuted to and from Earley Station from 1981-83 and the terminal saw regular traffic hauled by 37s. Geoff Endacott
  12. It's not bordering on SWAG country. It is very much in SWAG country. Geoff Endacott
  13. Well it's not a Fowler. It looks more like a Foulup. Geoff Endacott
  14. Canada Road will also be at Trainwest this year. That's three on this page (Canada Road, Borchester Market and Ring Road). Maybe I should rename it the Inspirational Layout Show. Geoff Endacott
  15. One down past the clubroom for the first time in months. Grey with EWS vinyls so presumably 60013 or 60015. Geoff Endacott
  16. Ring Road will be at Trainwest this year too. Geoff Endacott
  17. Borchester Market will be at Trainwest this year www.trainwest.org.uk . Geoff Endacott
  18. Any interaction between multiple accounts contravenes eBay rules. I have a feeling that it may also be illegal. Geoff Endacott
  19. I was at Penistone on 17 July 1981 which was just before the line closed. The last few photos seemed to be popular so I have scanned some more. Geoff Endacott
  20. I have been playing with my new negative scanner again. Here are a few photos taken on a trip to Penistone. The last one of 76022 is interesting because it shows a loco with blue livery and the old emblem. Geoff Endacott
  21. I have been playing with my new scanner. Is this funny-looking loco one of the things people are talking about in this thread? Geoff Endacott
  22. Which year would you like to bring it to the Calne Show? Geoff Endacott
  23. You haven't got Diesels in the Duchy down for Trainwest 2012. Geoff Endacott
  24. Treneglos is at Trainwest www.trainwest.org.uk this year which is not far from the Midlands. Geoff Endacott
  25. St Blazey definitely had a steam allocation in 1962, but a lot of them went that year. Cornwall was the first part of the WR to get rid of steam but I don't recall the exact year. Geoff Endacott
