  1. PECO had some samples at our anniversary event yesterday.
  2. PECO had undecorated samples at the Monk Bar Modelshop 60th birthday event. I should have taken some photos.
  3. The NGS plaque came off without too much of a fight…..a little paint needed. After stripping off the double sided tape I then mounted it on the RH end facia with contact adhesive. …..then realised that it would foul bolting on an end panel………..so after I cleaned off the contact adhesive with some white spirit, it’s been moved round the corner to the RH side of the layout . I think this is a good compromise as the layout won’t be leaving home very often.
  4. Seems OK, but some nice mirrored sunglasses for each operator could be a style thing!
  5. Good point, it has a self adhesive backing which may take the paint off though.
  6. The lighting rig is all bar done. Bottom of the uprights need their second coats of paint and the bolts need fitting. First picture is in a dark garage with the layout lights on. The second all lights are on.
  7. Well after several attempts I abandoned cutting plasticard windows for the cab obs lights and reverted to Krystal Klear. The door droplights were easier to add attached with Krystal Klear.
  8. Weathering to follow once, everything else is done……
  9. I didn’t have a clue…but found this on the UK Railtours website for this trip. ‘THE CENTENARIAN’ Between York and Scarborough this railtour will be re-named ‘The Centenarian’, in honour of former Deltic driver Harry Wilson who celebrates his 100th birthday in May 2023. Mr Wilson and his family will be joining us on the day. We’re pleased to confirm that 55009 Alycidon has successfully completed her main line test runs and is all set for her return to charter work on The Coronation Deltic!
  10. Great to see and hear a Deltic today, the first for a long long time. 1Z55:0752 KGX to Scarborough with 55009 Alycidon masquerading as 55013 The Black Watch up front and 47813 bringing up the rear. Photo taken at New Earswick farm crossing…..the step ladder came in handy.
  11. Don’t think Andy has ordered any cardigans.
  12. I hope todays rather grim day( not forecast) improves as there is a Railtour from KGX to Scarborough with Deltic haulage tomorrow. Due past us just after 1100 it will mean a late start for me at the Yorkshire area NGS meeting, whist I get some photos. Tomorrows work will be to make a start on fitting the plasticard cab and door drop lights fitted to the 6B. All the Krystal Klear windows are done except on the other DMBS which needs a coat of satin varnish first.
  13. The last DMBS has gained its lining and numbers, just need the weather to improve a bit to spray it with satin varnish…..then the windows can be added All the side windows to the other five cars are now done apart from those door drop lights shown open which will be plasticard. The Yorkshire Group NGS meeting tomorrow will mean a start can be made on the remaining windows.
  14. From Septembers RM…….Bob was shy….Mike and John weren’t there.
  15. Next week is the 60th birthday of Monk Bar Models where I work a couple of days a week. We have the PECO rep in on Monday, Hornby group rep Tuesday and Bachmann rep on Wednesday. I believe there will be cake too. Ian the PECO rep popped in a few weeks ago to take the following photo which is in Septembers RM.
  16. Thank you….you may have spotted www.1S76.com is my pet project.
  17. We got in for free…..sister in law used her free tickets……after the computer said no several times because she had accidentally booked the tickets for Cambridge.
  18. The three hours went very quickly….didn’t really know any of the story so found it interesting, thought provoking and entertaining…….Debbie and her sister enjoyed it too.
  19. My bolts and captive nuts were delivered while we were out watching Oppenheimer at City Screen in York…….rather than put the envelope through the letter box it was dropped off at the local Coop for me to collect…….anyway I have them now. Got some penny washers from Boyes today. Hopefully Friday I’ll be able to bolt everything together.
  20. Bachmann have said they are making a product announcement on Wednesday 23rd August in the shop…….and no we don’t know what it is!
  21. The MK2 rake looks great, Hunt Couplings I assume? Edinburgh / Glasgow to Brighton…the Sussex Scot …..http://www.1S76.com will give you details. there were also XC services to Bournemouth….Wessex Scot, Devon Scot, Plymouth and the Cornish Scot, Penzance.
  22. Lighting has now been added…..before and after shots.
  23. No I hadn’t, they look good. I ordered the bolts and T nuts last night so I’ll carry on with them.
  24. The lighting pelmet has been pretty well finished now. Just the lights to add…and of course the Olympia station sign. The modified uprights are working well. Need to source some M5 100mm or 110mm bolts and captive nuts to attach them to the layout legs…..and of course paint them.
  25. There have been a few charter trains past us this week including the Scarborough Spa Express which I missed as I was working. However I got these two……plus the preceding c68 hauled Scarborough working which was loco vice DMU. 47712 and 47593 on the 1635 Scarborough to Reading return railtour. 9/8/23. Haxby. Midland Pullman HST set with the 0543 Cardiff to Scarborough railtour 12/8/23. New Earswick. and finally 68024 Centaur with the 0935 Manchester Piccadilly to Scarborough 12/8/23. This was just in front of the HST working. New Earswick.
