  1. O. T. But it has happened once. On penalties... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44916496
  2. A selection of class 156 sprinters from the Ipswich area, all taken on 29th June 2007. 156407 at Marks Tey with the branch line service to Sudbury. 156419 awaits departure from platform 1 at Ipswich... Whilst 156416 arrives at platform 4. Now for some 153s. 153313 and 153335 depart Ipswich for Cambridge. To the east of Ipswich, on the Felixstowe branch is the small station of Trimley. 153314 is on the Felixstowe.
  3. Long-term Ipswich denizen 47370 slowly moulds away at the end of the stabling point sidings. Photographed here on 29th June 2007, it had another two years to wait before succumbing to the inevitable at TJ Thompson's scrap yard. Not sure why it hung around there for so long, perhaps a catastrophic failure, or wheelset issues?
  4. Submitted, but not all of the answers are accurate. I have added a few comments below, which I hope are helpful. What time period are you interested in modelling? All of the answers were UK, but I do not model UK, so none of the answers are relevant. I have answered, but these are based on the time period. Probably best to trim off the UK from the answers, they add nothing - other questions state the geography of your modelling. What brands of stock do you buy? My answer is none of them from the list, I buy from a multitude of manufactures not on the list - Roco, Kato, Tomix, Piko etc. Perhaps an overseas manufacturer option (even if it is just an option of 'Overseas') may give a better answer-set. My selection of None may be a bit misleading, as that implies I scratchbuild my stock - I don't. How frequently do you buy magazines? The answer set does not match the question. The question is around frequency - monthly, once in a while etc,. The answer-set is more about the format and method of consumption . Where do you get the latest news? I get it from a number of sources...you can only pick one answer here.
  5. Networker variety at Cannon Street - 1st April 2006. Scans from prints, so apologies that the quality isn't great.
  6. 377127 passes '40 Step' foot crossing just north of Pulborough with the 1C39 14:23 Bognor - Victoria. 16th January 2023.
  7. 73213 and 73109 head the 12:35 3Y09 Tonbridge - Tonbridge across the flood plains south of Pulborough - 18 January 2023. This train has been running all week, 73109 being the common locomotive so far. This is due to run again tomorrow...interesting to know if the same engines will be involved.
  8. Another day, another 3Y09., and what a difference in the weather! This time 73109 heads 73213 (distinct with its mini snowploughs - which I think looks good on the 73, contrary to earlier comments!) with the outbound service approaching Pulborough station through a frosty cutting.
  9. 73109 and 73136 head the 12:35 3Y09 Tonbridge - Tonbridge towards Pulborough - 16 January 2023.
  10. I, for one, am pleased to see the return of the Roco BR64 tank engine in epoch IV condition. A little disappointed that they did not follow on from the BR 211 or the 798 railbus and make this part of their 'budget range', but I may need to take the plunge. Their BR38 (Prussian P8 in old money) looks lovely, but it may take some convincing for me to replace my current Fleischmann example, as the Roco is not cheap (even without sound).
  11. View Advert Bachmann N Class - 32-164 Bachmann N class 2-6-0 tender engine in late BR livery DC locomotive, boxed and in excellent condition. I purchased this loco a few years ago because our club had a 00 Southern Region layout. Needless to say, other club members also have an N class, so mine is very much surplus to requirements. Advertiser Claude_Dreyfus Date 15/01/23 Price £55 Category OO / 4mm scale
  12. View Advert Hornby Terrier R2406 'Brighton Works' Hornby Terrier in its 'Brighton Works' garb - applied in its final years of service. DC locomotive, boxed and in good condition. Advertiser Claude_Dreyfus Date 15/01/23 Price £45 Category OO / 4mm scale
  13. View Advert Czech Electric and Carriages Here we have a set of Czech carriages with an electric locomotive. The loco is a Piko CD 372 electric locomotive in the attractive CD liver of dark red and yellow. The prototype operated fast passenger trains between the then Czechoslovakia and Germany from the late 80s onwards. The carriages are both Sachsenmodel examples of CD express carriages from a similar era. All are boxed and in good condition. The loco runs extremely well and is DC Being sold as a set. Advertiser Claude_Dreyfus Date 14/01/23 Price £120 Category Other scales
  14. View Advert Bachmann Branchline 31-237Z Class 205 'Thumper' 205012 in Connex yellow/white Bachmann class 205 in Connex livery - Kernow special The unit is DC (but DCC ready) and was obtained a few years back as the livery is local to me. Apart from a few runs on our club layout, it has spent the subsequent time sitting in its box as you don't tend to see too many of these units in 1970s Germany! Fully working with all the detailing bits present (but not fitted).. Advertiser Claude_Dreyfus Date 14/01/23 Price £150 Category OO / 4mm scale
  15. View Advert Bachmann Queen Mary 00 scale in SR livery. Boxed and in excellent condition. Being sold as surplus to requirements - to be honest, I have not used it in years... Advertiser Claude_Dreyfus Date 14/01/23 Price £20 Category OO / 4mm scale
  16. Ha! I've picked the perfect morning for my first commute of the year. Absolutely hammering it down and the train is running 6 minutes late (a problem when you have 5 minutes to catch your connection after Southern in their infinite wisdom removed the last of the direct London Bridge services from our station last year). At least they've fixed the station canopy so I'm not getting wet on the platform!
  17. Pretty much what it says on the tin.
  18. Apropos nothing on here, but I saw this article on the BBC, which struck a chord and is perhaps pertinent for those booking their summer get-aways (or perhaps more appropriately for those whose off-spring are planning gap year travels). https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-64187351 In a past life I worked as a claims assessor for a travel insurer. Most claims were pretty trivial (to the insurer, not to the claimant) and was dealt with more or less upon receipt. However there were those cases which could be more complex and have unfortunate outcomes. Sadly, this poor chap and his family have come to grief on quite a common exclusion clause. The 30-day clause (31 in this case) is pretty standard. It separates standard multi-trip insurance from more specialist policies. It is designed so that you do not use your travel insurance to live abroad, or work on secondment etc. Horses for courses. Note that this clause often applies to household insurance as well - you cannot leave your house unattended for more than 30 days on many standard policies (you can, of course get that extended, but the insure has to know and the inevitable premium has to be paid). It tends to emblazoned across the key facts of a policy (material clauses such as this are not allowed to be hidden away in reams of small-print, this is down to the Treating Customers Fairly initiative). If ever there is a lesson in actually reading the documentation supporting your insurance policy, this is it. Sadly, I have known of some extreme cases where the results have been catastrophic. One case, someone with a heart problems did not declare this to the insurance company (not the one I worked for I should add). They were in the US and had a massive heart attack, incurring hundreds of thousands of dollars in medial bills. A cursory check of their medical records, based on reports from the US physicians easily uncovered this extensive and pertinent history. It was not covered and the patient had an enormous medical bill to pay themselves. Not saying this is the case here, but skimping on travel insurance cover can have disastrous results. Worth noting as well, 'free' policies (or policies provided as part of a deal) with your bank/credit card etc tend to be the most basic (low benefits, higher excess). Some have a sneaky little clause which excludes all travel booked prior to inception of the policy, or booked over a year in advance (which inevitably is prior to the inception). In short, many are not worth the paper they are written on I'm afraid... Far better to get the right policy for your travels.
  19. A couple of scans from 2008 of a pair of Fertis class 56s stored at Eastleigh. 56115 and 56117 await their fate. Interestingly their fate was a little brighter then imagined at the time and both went out to Hungary, where I understand they are both still in service (although that could be outdated information).
  20. 59004 passing Eastleigh with a southbound stone train. Don't know the exact date, but likely November 2008.
  21. Ran some scans off today from a trip to Eastleigh in about 2008 - I reckon in November. Not sure why I did not make a note of the date (probably did but it has gone walkies). 66078 leaves with a rather rickety looking engineers train. I rather like that wagon!
  22. The saga of our local road closure continues! It has not reopened as yet, but now there is a gas leak in the same place... apparently a car hit a gas hydrant whilst turning around at the closure barriers. Several houses evacuated, fortunately not us. The road closure is causing chaos, with diverting traffic going through a local housing estate. None of this is helped by the rail strike either. Thank goodness I can still work from home!!
  23. A couple more from Crewe on 31st May 2003. 'Ginsters' liveried 158827. A few 156s were repainted into 158-style livery. I though it looked quite smart in this. This one is 156422.
  24. I'm afraid being scans, these aren't amazing, but hopefully give some indication. 153312 at Crewe - 31 May 2003 153320 at Newport - 15th October 2015
