  1. I had exactly the same thought - maybe it could be a timeshare... ;-)
  2. Leave it with me then, & I'll see what I can unearth... :-)
  3. How quickly do you need them? I've just removed some from a three-car set that are now surplus to requirements, BUT I'm not sure exactly where I put them & I have a rather busy week coming up, so probably won't be able to look for them until next weekend. If you can wait, though, I'm sure I can help you out Kevin
  4. No guarantee that they're still in stock, but there seems to be a copy here (towards the bottom of the page) selling for the cover price: http://www.railwaybooks.org/page33.htm Also here: http://titfield.co.uk/WildSwan/WSP_RLST.htm And here: http://pufferwillies.co.uk/uk2ecommerce/product/lner_wagons_volume_1_-_southern_area/ And a copy on AbeBooks: http://www.abebooks.co.uk/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=12881767364&searchurl=kn%3Dlner%2Bwagons%2Bwild%2Bswan%26amp%3Bsts%3Dt Definitely worth seeking out (the whole series, in fact) IMHO
  5. The book you need, and the one Paul's been referring you to, is Volume One - 'LNER Southern Area' of the latest multi-volume edition of LNER Wagons from Wild Swan, not the original single volume (although both are by Tatlow). The more recent work, as he's already stated, has drawings for both the 6-wheeled AND 4-wheeled GC brake vans...
  6. Light engine 70802 blasted up the Joint Line today to Donny. First one I've seen 'in the flesh' & they're sadly no better-looking close up...
  7. Yeah, I noticed the other day that it was empty again. Sadly it's not listed, so has little or no protection should an aspiring developer see potential in the site (it is on the 'Local list' as a building of local importance - "39) Tram Sheds, Newark Road – 1882. Former Tram Sheds, important in terms of social history of the locality and the City's transport history" - but that offers no security whatsoever, unfortunately...).
  8. Lincoln tram depot is still standing, albeit now coverted to a shop - not bad considering the system was closed in 1929... Lincoln tram shed History of Lincoln Corporation Tramways
  9. I have a few shots of 'North Star' on the day it was handed over to the D&EPG by Porterbrook - 28th May 2007 - having hauled the 1Z47 Derby-Minehead excursion (with 47828). And yes, it was absolutely peeing it down - but we always could pick just the right time to go on holiday...!: I also have a couple taken in 2009:
  10. These PW photos in particular are excellent - thank you very much for posting them!
  11. I could be wrong Ray (wouldn't be the first time...), but I believe the picket posts referred to are the bent steel rods seen holding barbed wire entanglements on many a battlefield: http://www.fieldsofglorymodels.co.uk/WebRoot/Store3/Shops/es112712_shop/5120/BCDC/3039/605D/F8E7/0A0F/1119/9EE2/595_3_m.jpg http://www.dalyndigitalphotography.com/imgs/gallerylarge/4cb_658_21362.jpeg Kevin
  12. There's contact/ordering info on the 2mm SA website under the 'Small Suppliers' link in 'Products': http://www.2mm.org.uk/small_suppliers/philsmith/index.htm I've had quite a few sets & can vouch for their quality. HTH, Kevin
  13. Could you use fiNetrax for the points and bullhead track, with 2mm Scale Association flatbottom bases (wood or concrete) for the fast lines?
  14. Sterile's a very apt word - industry has pretty much withered on the vine & been replaced by an almost obsessive focus on the university (& more importantly, its apparently cash-rich students) as seemingly the only source of prosperity for the city... Unfortunately, I took most of the railway infrastructure for granted 'back in the day', so didn't think to record it before it disappeared, although I did photograph the ex-GNR engine shed before it was absorbed by the university's first phase of construction (it's still there, but incorporated into a bar & concert venue).
  15. Yes, there were several goods yards to the left of the shot (i.e., south of Brayford Pool) - ex-GNR, ex-GCR & ex-MR. All now gone, sadly, although the GCR goods & grain warehouse is still there, converted into a library for the university. The view now would capture nothing but bars, restaurants, & a huge cinema. The boats are still there, but all pleasure craft rather than working vessels... Thanks for that Merf, never did get to grips with identifying Bedfords...
  16. A friend passed me this photo the other day, showing Brayford Wharf East in Lincoln. There's a Ford Anglia 105E bottom left, so it must be post September 1959 in date: Would I be correct in assuming that the Bedford artic (K-Series?) in the middle is railway-owned? Kevin
  17. Just had a look through some of my old photos & found a few yellow trucks & vans lurking in the background, so I though it might be worthwhile to see if I could crop them: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pyewipe-jct/sets/72157632559920280/detail/ Nothing special, & the quality's not brilliant, but hopefully of some interest. Cheers, Kevin
  18. No - put it back in the original box & I'm sure no-one will notice...
  19. Here are a few I've taken over the last few years: Copenhagen Fields - 2mm Golden Jubilee Expo, 3rd July 2010 Fence Houses - Railex NE, 28th August 2011 Highclere - 2mm Golden Jubilee Expo, 3rd July 2010 Mini MSW - 2mm Golden Jubilee Expo, 3rd July 2010 Percy Nook - Railex NE, 28th August 2011 St. Ruth - 2mm Golden Jubilee Expo, 3rd July 2010 Wansbeck Road - Alexandra Palace, 29th March 2009 Witney Euston - 2mm Golden Jubilee Expo, 3rd July 2010 Ynysarwed Sidings - National Festival of Railway Modelling, Peterborough, 16th October 2011 There are a few more on my Flickr site, but I must admit, model railway photography is not my forte... http://www.flickr.co...57626632125877/ Kevin
  20. 'Wansbeck Road', unless I'm much mistaken - definitely one of my favourite 2mm layouts. Kevin
  21. Beautiful on several levels - very convincing operation!
  22. I have a few that I've seen on my various travels up on my Flickr site: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pyewipe-jct/sets/72157626791055887/ They should all have captions with location & whatever other info I've been able to dig out for each one, but if anyone has any more details to add, please feel free. Kevin
  23. I believe Farish originally did the 'Holden tank' in two different versions - one in GER blue & another in LMSR Crimson Lake. They were virtually identical (livery notwithstanding), except for the position of the dome & the tank-top toolboxes (or absence thereof), as shown in your comparison photo. The Farish 'GP' tank has always been the 'super Jinty' as posted by Armchair M. Hope this helps, Kevin
