  7. My Heljan BR Blue D8529 is still running ok. it is from the original batch and does require a bit more umph to get going, then needs slowing down, after which it runs well. I would like to fit a DCC decoder in it but fear it might be the straw that breaks the camels back. I would like to know how many other orignals are still going strong. Regards Paul

  12. I bought 4 of these over xmas 2 EWS and 2 RF sector - Should have read this thread first! Never mind i wll have to do a spot of weathering! Fantastic wagons especially with the options for the load. I have kept the cradles on but after a few laps the coil loads are moving along the cradles. Maybe a spot of blue tack is required. Paul

  14. Heljan are in the business of making money and they obviously think they will get their money back on these releases. Remember both the 14 & 28 were comissioned by Hattons, though Heljan may well have done these too at a later date. Though i am no steam expert i bet there are quite a few who would buy a Bulleid Leader. Paul
  15. Got my GSYP today. I am very pleased with it though the buffer beam details were more delictate than the co-bo and proved a little trouble some to remove enable the tension lock coupling to fit in one end. One of the few locos i have bought before its been reviewed in the magazines! Paul

  18. Looks like i may have to buy some of these! I worked at the Hull Birdseye site for 17 years till it closed in 2007 ( though i still have connections with the company). Some of my older co -workers said there was talk of the site being connected with a rail siding in the 70's but nothing came of it. A little shunting layout with my 03 sounds good! Paul

  21. Saltend is a chemical plant which dispatched acetic acid by Rail i know there were flows to Spondon, Mostyn and Baglan Bay. There may have been others. As James said the traffic now goes by Pipe Line. Also There was a large plant at Barton on Humber till the mid 90's - Albright & Wilson? Paul
