  1. The Headcode lights do work. I guess the contacts need pushing home a bit to make yours light up. Like the class 56 there is no working fan, but the body side vents still move. The body felt a bit stiff on removal as if there was sticky resistance. Paul
  2. Was this or one similar often seen in Doncaster works car park? Paul
  3. Thanks for all the comments. Still one or two bits to do. I have taken this on tour in our caravan. I also have other special layouts for caravanners in the pipe line! Paul
  4. Bob's day at the beach surfing was slightly delayed by the passage of the morning clay hoods.
  5. Just got an email from Hattons saying mine is on its way. Paul
  6. Although I model 4mm I have dabbled in N gauge from time to time. I came across a N gauge Kato CV1 oval on ebay which I bought as it only measured approx. 32 cm across. A test run with a farish 03 was satisfactory, so I just needed to mount it on something. It would have been too easy just to cut some wood into a circular disc so after several weeks of searching I came across a lazy Susan in the 'Range' superstore in Hull. I will let the pictures to the talking. Paul
  7. If you have fitted the front bogie plough check that the NEM coupling pocket is not rubbing the inside of it preventing the bogie from moving. I bought the Model Rail EWS/cargo rail and DBS 66101 both of which needed the coupling pocket trimming back by a tiny amount. Paul
  8. Not sure were to put this so mods please move if needed. On the Oxford diecast face book page a while back a digger was shown which was part of a new Stobart 1/76th vehicle range. The ads have only appeared sporadic. Now today some one has uploaded a pic of the digger along with a flyer showing other models - a digger, unimog, airport fire tender and a class 66/9 as eddie the engine! The pic shows the loco complete with tension lock couplings and I suspect is the Bachmann model. However, most of these models retail for around £20 - £30 mark so I doubt it is a working loco at £100 + . The flyer seems to imply that all the models are diecast. The picture of the flyer is shown at an angle but all the info about the loco refers to the real one and not the model. Paul
  9. Some pictures of the Blue/Grey version just delivered to me from Hattons. Paul
  10. Am I correct in thinking that in the early/mid 80's single wagons were added on to the rear of some passenger services? Paul
  11. That top pic looks like an outtake from the horror movie 'Ghost Ship' !! Paul
  12. Dapol Wagons ordered 18.20 on Tuesday evening from Hattons. They were delivered this afternoon by Yodel. Less than 24hours! Superb service! Paul
  13. I have fitted a Bachmann decoder to mine. As already mentioned the body comes away fairly easy. The metal base proving a bit difficult to separate from the plastic chassis base. I knocked off a couple of seats whilst doing so. In hindsight a couple of recess groves to enable a better finger nail grip may have improved things. The model runs great and is fantastic. Taking the body off etc really shows how much work was involved in this. Paul
  14. 66187 waits at Hessle Road junction with steel empties from Hull docks to Rotherham on 12th July 2013 More 66's around Hull on my flickr page - see signature below Paul
  15. The Picture with the tanks in the siding is interesting. There seem to be few pictures of freight trains in BR Blue on the branch. Alas my visit to travel on the branch in the late 80's was thwarted by cars blocking the route and the train terminating. Paul
  16. It's because back then Diesel preservation had not even begun. Most of whats preserved now are because of quirks of fate. The locos were employed in the BR research dept or gained use as carriage heaters etc. Paul
  17. You mean the Goole to Knottingley. Also on TV noted the moaning passengers complaining about the diversion. Surley its better than getting on and off a bus whilst the work is going on. Paul
  18. Railnews is reporting that Network rail say the route may face indefinate closure which poses some interesting questions. http://www.railnews.co.uk/news/2013/02/15-colliery-slip-line-may-be.html Paul
  19. I take it then that west departures/arrivals for Scunthorpe steel works will be routed Gainborough/Lincoln and have to run round at Barnetby? Paul
  20. Back in post 61 i mentioned an episode of the Bill (episode: some you win some you loose) featuring Old Oak Common. It shows a number of 50's and 47s and a view of the turn table. All now gone of course. Scenes start at 24 mins and 26.18. Paul http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wKSU-wSLGg
  21. This and the £100 layout thread make interesting reading, its great watching back to basics stuff. Paul
  22. A decent slow speed loco is a must too. Hornby's little 0-4-0 chassis is ok for racing but not for shunting. Paul
  23. Just had a look through Diecast collector mag in smiffs and saw first castings of a Scania 110 and a bonneted t cab scania in 1/76th. Also Scammell highway man - which i think was previously announced. Paul
