  1. I can see from your avatar why you like the Mini! I didn't manage to get a pic of a lovely restored Mk 5 Cortina that was parked further along the road. We love living here, its only been 2 years but we wouldn't want to live anywhere else now. Terry
  2. I didn't fancy the owners ride home. The heavens opened during lunch and didn't stop!
  3. Members of the Orkney Vintage Club visited our home yesterday to view my Layouts and my partners Quilts, Handbags and Embroidery collection. I took a few pics of the cars parked outside while they took the tour! The club are primarily Car and Tractor enthusiasts but they have an interest in, well just about anything, so when the guys were in my shed looking at the railways their partners were being entertained by my wife. We all then adjourned to our local for lunch. (Just visible in the background behind the VW Golf). A really good day and it introduced finescale modelling to the club members. Terry
  4. I ordered Micro Engineering track from them on 27/12/17 (It was in their post christmas sale) and it was delivered on 23/1/18. As others have said the US firms don't seem to continually update with e-mails, it just turns up eventually! No duty was charged but I had to pay VAT and the £8 handling fee to the Post Office. One of the labels on the packing showed it had travelled via Germany !? I've used them a few times over the years and definitely use them again. Terry
  5. Has anyone mentioned a Caley 439 class 0-4-4T tank yet. Scottish and very useable I would have thought! Terry
  6. Hi Hugh, Thanks for the info on the hoods. I ordered some from Mark, they arrived yesterday and look just the job. Just need to paint and weather them now! Terry

    Dapol 'Western'

Oh and once again dear, I gave in and ordered 842 Royal Oak from Hattons. Evocative as HMS Royal Oak was sank not far from where I live and there have been a lot of moving memorials this year. Terry

Great, Just what I need for my North East based EM layout. Couldn't resist though at that price. Memories of Devon/Cornwall on holiday in 1971 took hold. Now what about getting a Warship too!..... I have 8mm video I took of one of the last crossing the Royal Albert Bridge from Saltash. And then that means a new cameo layout. New Peco Bullhead track and cue the new Iain Rice book from Wild Swan. Hopefully soon! Terry
  9. Thanks Mark, That does give me a range of options. I like the idea of the "American"style pickup route so may go for that. My model is EM too so you have given me some good info. Many Thanks Terry
  10. Mark, I've got one of these part built but I'm using Ultrascale wheels which have the boss behind the wheel. I could take them off but it seems to be a waste. What wheels are you using? I could use the Ultarscales in another 47 if there is a readily available wheel. Terry
  11. What an interesting selection of trains. So much variety compared to the UK. Thanks for posting. Love your sci-fi postings on the daily update, keeps me on my toes working out where they are from! Cheers Terry

    Ode to the movie

Job, As always thought provoking modelling , especially the choice of movies! Checking up on these, only one of which I had seen, I then googled 1959 films, and found some classics, including Ben Hur. Is there some background reasoning for the choice, connected to the setting of Northall? Or is it just a personal choice. Usually layouts with movie posters always show blockbusters and try to include a Bond film.(probably predictable and I would do the same) This selection was definitely left field and very interesting. Box clever or Spa

Wow! Can't wait to see more. Terry
  14. Jon, After I posted my comment I thought you would have already thought of that. And you had! Terry
  15. Wow! Looking like the real thing now. That last section had my eyes straining! Will the extra detail cope with the bogie flexing when you clip it back onto the bogie? My fingers are crossed Jon! Terry
  16. Bill Nelson and the Gentlemen Rocketeers DVD. Any fans of Be Bop Deluxe or Bill's solo career, or any guitar enthusiast, this is well worth buying/watching.( i got mine from Play.com for 8.99) Robin Trower - The Playful Heart This has been out for a while now, but i keep replaying it. The songwriting and soloing is just sublime. Terry
  17. Joe Satriani - Flying In A Blue Dream, Live version
