  1. Broadholme loops, Steve. PS Orientation of the original photo was OK; there was a EE Type 3 on each end.
  2. Crikey. If I were the author I'd be right annoyed... I wonder if I should ask for my pre-order ££ back?
  3. Quite a few listings on eBay. Someone's trying to sell the complete series for £750 (+ £30 p&p). Most seem to be trying to sell one or two issues for a couple of ££, plus p&p.
  4. Anyone know when (or if) this'll eventually appear? Should've been published before last Christmas. No show. Then it was March 2024. No show. It's disappeared off both Amazon and BookFinder.com. Crecy website now says April 2024. Any real chance this month?
  5. That was the "B" I mentioned - Broomhouse. Opened-out in 1969.
  6. Was the Bristol & Gloucester built as broad gauge? And if so was it double track? Having walked through the (disused) Staple Hill tunnel between Mangotsfield and Fishponds, the dimensions don't appear sufficient for double broad gauge track. Just a wonderin', as the books I've read lack clarity on this.
  7. I've decided to slightly alter the name of the layout to Aston-on-Trent; more in keeping with how the MR/LMS would've likely called it.
  8. Made up some wagon loads; it is real gypsum in the wagons albeit powdered. As an aside, are the Mainline 16t mineral wagons too long? Comparing it alongside a Bachmann tippler they have a different wheelbase. Or were tipplers shorter?
  9. Very nice. I'm just making a small exchange yard from a gypsum mine (Aston upon Trent). What did you use as gypsum for wagon loads? Tried to source some gypsum, but all I could find was the powdered variety. Even emailed a stone firm, but they never got back to me...
  10. I'd notch the track if you want to take that approach, Rob, rather than cut the rail all the way through.
  11. There used to be two signalboxes at Saxby; Saxby Station Jn and Saxby West Jn. The photo is of the latter - hence the uneven lettering on the nameboard.
  12. Poole up to Parkstone (supplied by Bournemouth).
  13. Brightening-up a damp and dismal Poole this afternoon...
  14. Thameslink here, Thameslink there, Thameslink blinking everywhere... This morning south of Purley on the Brighton line.
  15. Class 70 heaven at Southampton MCT on Sunday morning, with almost a third of the Freightliner batch present.
  16. I'm getting an ad for "Furniture for industry; furniture for offices". Something I've never, ever Googled about.
  17. The Wills goods yard crane makes up into a nice little model. The prototype seems to have been seen at MR locations, which is a bonus. As it's rather delicate, I've placed it where (hopefilly) it won't get knocked. Haven't painted/weathered it yet. Also need to make the thread taughter...
  18. Sales of Hornby products slump in Newcastle, after hearing of Mike Ashley's involvement...
  19. Though only 45in x 13in, I'm getting more enjoyment out of this layout than from much larger stuff I've made. For some reason, though, the LMS omitted this little branch from their maps...
