  1. Passing 390s between Watford Tunnel and Kings Langley, a couple of weeks ago.
  2. Done a bit more, but not 100% if the scatter will adhere well. Might just put it onto wet paint. We'll see... Must get some Woodland Scenics to see how that fits in.
  3. Actually did a bit of modelling this morning, using Gaugemaster scatter. Made up a mix of PVA, acrylic paint and water, and applied to layout. Have to see what it's like when it dries...
  4. So I think Byddaf yn cael fy got.
  5. I'm fluent in Welsh. OK, that statement might be a slight exaggeration, though I do know two words; araf and ysgol... Happy St David's Day.
  6. High-tech digital point control in Westbury down yard yesterday afternoon...
  7. Cheers, thanks Russ. There was a 70 on yesterday afternoon's Wentloog - Soton MCT which was nice to see (it used to be a solid 70 turn, then went over to 66s).
  8. When the lotto first started, the Radio Times used to print a little box on one of the Saturday pages entitled "Winning lottery numbers". I think some folks complained as in their copies the boxes were just blank every week... The 66 in the down yard of Steadfast's photo (above) might be 66105 for all you numbers crunchers. I suppose no-one knows what the 70 in the down yard near the Colas Shed was, or the 70 sandwiched between 66846 and 70805 in the up Colas sdgs were yesterday afternoon?
  9. I had two calls from British Gas on the same day earlier this week; one in the morning and one in the afternoon, asking if we'd like a smart meter fitted. But we've just transferred our account to Octopus...
  10. The afternoon Wentloog - Soton MCT used to be a solid 70 turn. Then it went over to 66s, so it was nice to see a 70 on it again today. 70002 slows for a signal stop at Westbury. There were containers on the wagons at the rear of the train...
  11. On the way to Westbury, I stopped off at Newton St Loe. I'd just stopped the car when this appeared on the horizon. I just had time to change the ISO on the camera and get this grabbed shot. Fortunately, the adjacent A4 was clear of traffic. Oh, the train is today's 6A08 1205 Tytherington - Appleford, with 66112 at the helm, running 35 min late.
  12. Looks like the green 'un (66004) is back at Westbury. I didn't notice I'd got it in a photo until I got home and looked through my snaps... Meanwhile 66068 toys with some wagons this afternoon in the up yard.
  13. Sometimes we can overthink things. Parcels stock (and passenger-rated vans) had a very wide route availability and wide geographical spread. Well that's why I can justify a GW Siphon G and a Fruit D (I think that's what they are) on my Shardlow layout. Parcels stuff can be much more interesting than passenger stock a times...
  14. Top-notch track maintenance - taken from a position of safety behind a buffer-stop and behind a fence...
  15. Sorry Keith, but I don't know a Father Ted. However, I have a friend who lives on Craggy Island, a Mrs Doyle, who might know.
  16. Looking good, Phil. The houses and car in the top shot, above, do look to be slightly out of scale to me though...
  17. Looks good. Nice to see someone who has fitted a PECO bufferstop onto the track correctly, with the ends flush to the top of the rails.
  18. Anderson, V. and Fox, G. (1986) Stations and Structures of the Settle and Carlisle Railway. Poole: Oxford Publishing. Has plans of the goods shed at Langwathby, plus drawings of some station buildings.
  19. Can't see 2/2, so I'll never know...
  20. Trust me, there is a 66 in this photo. As I get older, I find myself getting away from the "three-quarter front view of loco in the sunshine" shot... Anyway, 6.45 am yesterday finds me at Kings Langley as 66735, on the late-running 4L39 2359 Wakefield Europort - Tilbury, passes on the up fast. Don't get many freights on the fasts, but this was 75 late at Rugby, so ran direct via Weedon rather than Northampton. Approaching on the down slow are a pair of 350s on 2T05 0622 Euston - Tring.
  21. Looks like you got as close as Jim Lovell did on his two Apollo trips. So do we now call you "Rocket Man"? In the second image, is that wriggly line a drystone wall?
  22. Cheers, thanks all. Nimbus had very scruffy paintwork over/around the driver's cab window at one end, so I'd say you're all correct. Double wipers at both ends until the end...
  23. I can totally understand losing the modelling mojo. This weekend there is a model railway exhibition just 3,000ft (as the crow flies) from our house. My layout is probably the closest one to the show not actually there! But the thought of being in a stuffy hall looking at bits of track on pieces of wood, doesn't really appeal.
  24. The daffs have been out for a few days now...
  25. Oh...🥵 There is someone on Facebook who is convinced their picture is of Nimbus, but the featured 55 has single wipers...
