  1. I presume the lighting is gone as well?
  2. The problem is they have to photoshop anything that isn't actually in production so they will continue to work from previous stock side views hence the preponderance of models with ringfield bogies both Lima and Hornby. This didn't stop people speculating that the Class 66 in TT would have a single bogie drive as a scaled down version of the ex-Lima tooling... I also can't see any evidence that the new Railroad+ 67 has a single motor bogie, just that it has a 3 pole motor and simplified gearing compared to the main range one...
  3. https://uk.Hornby.com/products/sdjr-class-4f-0-6-0-no-61-era-2-r30285 https://uk.Hornby.com/products/sdjr-class-2p-4-4-0-no-46-era-2-r30286 The descriptions don't seem to indicate that at all;
  4. The chances of Hornby producing a 73/9 ever are approximately zero, so Hornby metrics are completely irrelevant. You're not dealing with the same kind of collector here. They are contained within the subset that did the same with the MK5 Sleepers. Prove me wrong.
  5. Are you absolutely sure about that, as both the 4F and 2P seem to have been updated to loco drive in 2011? HSS378 Class 4F Service Sheet.eps (Hornby.com) 2P Class Service Sheet.eps (Hornby.com) I think you're confusing it with these older service sheets... 6. Those are photoshoped images and don't reflect the actual models. The service sheets for these items show that they all use the Hornby Limby motor bogies. The Lima ringfield motors can't be made anymore due to the relative toxicity of some of the materials in them, at least that was the explanation nearly 20 years ago.
  7. It's almost as if Peco knew what they were doing...
  8. Maybe an XPT might be a target for Hornby, but done properly rather than just a paint job (Lima approach previously)?
  9. I think the OP's dilemma is that he's thinking 1 wire, 1 socket/terminal and isn't familiar with the "keep stuffing wires in until you can't" approach we all tend to use.
  10. They're on my mind at the moment as I recently unearthed my old spotting books and these two are pencilled in with the whole formations. Growing up in Godalming, those two units were something exceptional to see at the time.
  11. They were also used in the 2 8MIG units on the Portsmouth line when the 4BIGs were being taken off for Asbestos removal in the early 80's. Ultimately the route lost all it's BIGs and got the all 7 of the Refurb 4BEPs.
  12. Or M4 for (meh tolerances in 4mm) Why invent another gauge though? American 00 already exists with 19mm track at 4mm, so if anything embrace that. Or not (preferably not)... we don't need Accurscale going dolally on us...
  13. Not having any indication of the internal wiring of the box I would comment that the manufacturer's documentation seems to be appalling. I would suspect that the lower terminal connections on the side MIGHT be intended for where you are meant to afix the other feed from the controller (because you have no circuit without both), and that connector is where you should also connect the blue circled return to.
  14. I don't think it does, but what you will want when they come out are... Bachmann Europe plc - Functional BSI Coupler (with NEM plug) (x10),Functional BSI Coupler (with NEM plug) (x10)
  15. With an 08 I'd rather it was right than Triang it must be said... This one is looking rather spiffing.
  16. I can't fault the choice of the first three locos out of the factory for Hornby. The 08 being one of the first two would have been better from a trainset point of view, but that's probably the only level of criticism. I suspect my resolve (that I can't really afford anything hobby-wise at the moment) is going to melt away when they announce that trainset...
  17. They kinda do, but they do have a habit of presenting themselves with greater opportunities to attract said flack than the others...
  18. I don't think anyone is claiming that there isn't some kind of relationship between Realtrack's tooling and the EFE tooling, that seems to be quite obvious. But as I'd previously said, what has been stated publicly is at odds with what you've reported, and as a primary source I would take what Charlie has said at face value, and I would suggest that you are conflating statements heard with some assumed information. We can infer a whole bunch of things from what has been stated in regards how the initial tooling was made, and who retained the rights to the final CAD to produce the tooling and their potential ability to produce duplicate or modified tooling from that. We can also infer quite a bit from Realtrack's decision to remove their tooling from the originating manufacturer.
  19. Where are you hearing that from, as it is somewhat at odds with statements from Realtrack? Realtrack are quite clear that they own their 143/144 tooling (and are producing more soon) and the EFE model is not produced from that tooling.
  20. Good call - I'd missed it thinking Dapol did one in N, but it's the one they don't do or have planned to do...
  21. I suspect Great Waterton thinks that Realtrack secured an exclusive license to produce the Class 156, which I would hazzard a guess isn't the case given Hornby are still producing 156s...
  22. Or at least new tooling for the ones that Hornby didn't get around to producing. And the 12 wheel diner to modern standards.
  23. Three surely? The old Minitrix ones are actually rather nice still so not outside the realms of reintroduction. The Farish ones are the ones to better though and I think AS could do that... You can never have enough MGR hoppers :) But any of the wagons would be good. I would say the MK1 Suburbans might be a good bet. But absolutely go for the Siphon G, we need a good one that isn't just a panto-graphed down Airfix one. Of the locos, it's a slightly more crowded market as they'd all be up against modern(ish) tooling.
  24. Obviously that's what they will be doing... But by definition, two lots of nearly identical aircons doesn't produce as much interest in the first place. The easy economic decision is to make lots of MK1s in different liveries which all use the same tooling rather than one that requires slides swapped in and out for different batches. Or, in fact to just make the 2E or the 2F first and follow up with the other LATER. A quicker win is MORE MK1s initially rather than a duplicate batch of nearly identical MK2s. The fact that many in this thread haven't noticed that there are the two types being produced speaks volumes. I wish Hornby well (and it is to be applauded they have tooled up two types, presumably based off of the work they did in 00), but doing both types at once smacks of "because we can" rather than "because we should".
  25. So we're basically going to be flooded with MK2 aircons in the initial production runs and nothing to haul them. Those are production slots that could have been better used for MK1s in more liveries. Blue Grey springs instantly to mind, and WR Chocolate and Cream a quick second to support the forthcoming Castle.
