  1. Hi Brian, looking good, enjoy your break in Newport. cheers Mike
  2. for the record, the numbering history two ex LMS Kitchen cars is: DB999503 built 1936 under Lot 956, numbered 30088, became TMD395279 when converted to Inspection Saloon, then renumbered DB999503 DB999504 built 1938 under Lot 1081, numbered 30106, became TMD395280 when converted to Inspection Saloon, then renumbered DB999504 sorry for the hi-jack Brian. cheers Mike
  3. Hi Sean, nice looking Inspection Saloon. Is it one of the two ex LMS Kitchen Car conversions that became that eventually became DB999503 & 4 or the new build Diag 1/552 numbered DB999506/8 &9? cheers Mike
  4. My cunning plan for the 'alternative' body/chassis fixing seems to have worked out ok a plate, shaped to fit inside the end and drilled and tapped 12BA without interference to anything else I did not have any shorter bolts at the time, but supplies have now been obtained and I have at last been able to obtain photos and get a 'survey' carried out on the coach while it rests inside the carriage shed at Bury, which has allowed me to mark out and form the aperture for the end windows ready to receive a 20 thou plasticard strip at the back, to be fitted flush with the aperture to form the cill/head for the window frame to be fitted. I have also marked out and cut the sides to receive and then fitted the new single doors and then filled in the redundant windows. I fitted the glazing to these windows and drilled each one a couple of times so that the filler could go through and have a hold of the inside. The filler has been left overnight and will be sanded down and another layer applied to cover the shrinkage that has occurred. Hopefully will be able to complete the end window frames today and when the filler has dried on the sides, cut out for the new window on the kitchen side. cheers Mike
  5. Hi Brian, John Peck has already done a set of transfers for this coach, if you have not already been in touch with him. cheers Mike
  6. very nice Brian, as a matter of interest, what is the revised CV value that you have put on the Red/White LEDs. cheers Mike
  7. I have now received the missing axlebox keeper plates, so I have made a start and put the bogies together if you look carefully, you can see the 0.7mm holes drilled for the springing arrangement assembled bar the keeper plates all now complete with keeper plates and stretcher wires close up showing the replacement pins for connecting the dampers underside close up showing springing arrangement. The marks on the underside of the axleboxes are reference marks as each box was cleaned up for that W iron. Hopefully a start on the chassis tomorrow and thoughts on an alternative body/chassis fixing arrangement as the JLTRT arrangement would be seen through the additional windows that will be fitted in the ends. cheers Mike
  8. Hi Rod, many thanks for those, could be a great help in the coming months. cheers Mike
  9. I downloaded the Windows version yesterday and I am putting my toe in the water, it certainly concentrates the mind and helps me forget the shingles problems that I have at the moment! cheers Mike
  10. Hi Mark, many thanks for the heads-up on the software, I shall give it a go - even though I have Windows. I have almost finished my current project, a 121 conversion to Departmental use, and the idea is that it will form the towing/propulsion for the Inspection saloon, so I want to get all of the Inspection saloon dimensions ready and to hand as soon as possible. I'll keep you posted. cheers Mike
  11. I am converting a JLTRT H33 Restaurant coach into the S&T Inspection saloon KDW150266. To date have only found 3/4 elevation photographs, with all but one, from the same (water tank pipe filler) end. I know that the original coach is preserved on the East Lancs Railway, I have made numerous requests to them via phone, email and snail mail, to visit the carriage shed to survey the vehicle, but to date, have had no response to those requests. Therefore any side/end drawings would be a great help as there are a number of door/window alterations to be made and it is difficult to scale off of oblique photographs to get the correct dimensions. If anybody has any information, it would be gratefully received. regards Mike
  12. Great trackwork there Rod, looking forward to seeing the blockbuster video some time soon. cheers Mike
  13. there is reference to Haye Developments GWR Mess & Tool vans in the Westdale (tel 01628 482493 - no website or email) advert in the current Guild Gazette. cheers Mike
  14. great work as usual Sandy, looking forward to seeing it in action on Saturday at LLanbedr. cheers Mike
  15. Hi Brian, all coming together rather nicely. Just had the 'heads up' from Shawn Kay of Easybuild that he will have the 'progress to date' version of his next kit with him at Bristol - the 1963 Swindon built Inspection Saloons DB999506/8 & 9. it will be an 'as built' version, so leaving the 'inset sides' as currently running DB999508 TIC as a kit bashers dream. Have a good day. cheers Mike
  16. Hi Sandy, I take it that you are building a Maunsell Arthur or S15? Best of luck with the build, looking forward to seeing it at Llanbedr early in the New Year cheers Mike
  17. Hi Tim, looking great, best of luck at the exhibition. regards Mike

  19. Hi Brian, it was part of the complete set that I done for me by Scale Model Transfers (Frank Warner) www.scalemodeltransfers.co.uk cheers Mike
  20. Hi Brian, great work as usual. When I built the Class 419 MLVs I moved the body retaining screws along so that they could be used as intended. and rather than have the uncoupling bar dangling from the coupling, I used the buckeyes that Malcolm Binns (Sidelines) sold which did not have them fitted. cheers Mike
  21. Hi Rod, looking great, you'll soon have the stock rattling in and out and then start thinking of an extension! cheers Mike
  22. Hi Chaz, nice work, I'm looking forward to seeing the progress. cheers Mike
  23. Hi Keith, I too had noticed the caption error on page 175, (as part of the detailed research for our New Brighton layout) the others i had not noticed, as they did not draw as much interest as the New Brighton pictures and I've only been living on Wirral for eight years, so I'm very much still in the learning curve. I did point the error our to Lightmoor Press and they acknowledged the error and said that it would be rectified for any future print run. cheers Mike
  24. Hi Rod, according to the steam loco bible - Hugh Longworth's BR Steam Locomotives 1948 - 68, it just says that 46762 was withdrawn 02/52 and by then, it had long left the Wirral system and scrapped during 1952 agree with you about Maund's book, very informative. cheers Mike
