American O Scale: "Portway Terminal Short Line, MN".
Ressaldar replied to F-UnitMad's topic in USA & Canadian Railroads
Hi Jordan, glad all went well - with the running at least. I am having similar problems with sound in my Heljan 33 - fitted with a Loksound 3.5XL, in as much as it seems to be getting quieter each time I put it on the track - adjusting CV63 does not work, nor going back to the 'Factory' settings via CV8! cheers Mike -
Hi Kev, yes, scaled down from various sources. Thanks for the comment. regards Mike

Just finished this O Gauge version of a Diag D2046 Inspection Saloon, again from a Sidelines kit + air horns & ETH, it is based on a photo on Flickr taken on 9th June 1983 at North Oxford. Please note that I remembered that the solebars and buffer beams were painted blue! regards Mike

Hi BR(S) The vent is immediately above the 'INT' on this side and there is another on the other side, diagonally opposite this one. The central end window is also different in as much as the drop light is completely removed and the whole opening is than glazed. On your earlier post of the two at Chester, the one on the right is one of the Kitchen Car rebuilds (four were done, the latter two which became DB999503/4 differed from the first two) which had a slightly different window/door arrangement on one side from the Bachmann model and therefore would need a bit of 'cut and shuffle' to produce a model. cheers Mike

Mine has arrived at Kender Street yard for the annual inspection. Yet to be weathered, but the ETH and buffer beam details have been fixed on. cheers Mike

just collected mine from the sorting office and am quite pleased with it, although I cannot understand why Bachmann have spoilt the ends by fitting the additional 'handrail knobs' to the water filler pipes (just under the end of the roof) especially as they have correctly fitted 'clips' on the roof. cheers Mike

I stand corrected, none of the many photos that I have seen of this livery ever showed anything but black/dirt. I have never seen any of the above mentioned photos despite 'searching' on Flickr for Inspection Saloons - the last link would not have come up as it is described as 'Observation' cheers Mike ps mine is on its way.

see post #92 on page 4 cheers Mike

Mine has not arrived yet, but looking at the photo posted above, Bachmann seem to have dropped a massive boo-boo in that the solebar, steps, buffer beam and buffer shanks should not be blue but black. More to come when I get mine. cheers Mike

Hi Dan, be careful with the intended respray as I think by the time the Inter-City livery was applied, the heater vents had been installed, which I do not think are included on the Bachmann model. cheers Mike

DW80975 in IC livery is the subject of my next build - again in 7mm. Transfers already created for me by Precision Labels. regards Mike

I have just finished this one again it is a Sidelines 7mm kit, the only modifications to the kit are the heater vents, the removal of the droplight from the central end windows and no steam heat pipe. The large EWS and the triple head logo are by Fox and the lettering on the ends and the running number are mine via laser printing onto Crafty Computer paper. Hope you like it. cheers Mike

Hi Nerron, I've just caught up with this thread, here are a couple of pictures of the 7mm Sidelines kit for the D2046 Inspection Saloon that I built a couple of years ago an excellent kit to make. I have the Orion ex GWR Q13 to do, as well as the conversion from the H33 Restaurant coach (a JLTRT kit) into the S&T Inspection Saloon KDW150266 cheers Mike

Hi Mike, it was great to see you and Andy at Wirral OGG on Tuesday, I hope that you will both be making some return visits. Since then I have started here on post 1 and worked my way through to page 28 and I can only say that your efforts are total dedication and you should be very proud of the progress to date, both on the baseboard/scenic side and more especially the wiring and all done with continuing health problems, keep up the good work and to say that I am looking forward to the next instalment is more than an understatement. Many thanks for taking the time to update the thread Mike

Hi Andy, that is great, many thanks for posting. It looks as if the Inspection Saloon is DB999506 with E's branding - handy as Easy-build have just brought a 7mm kit out for this Diagram 1/552 Inspection Saloon - see also Brian Daniels build thread of DB999508 here on RMweb cheers Mike -

Hi all, pictures of hydraulics of any class hauling/propelling Inspection Saloons seem to be rarer than hens teeth - if anybody has any that they would be prepared to post here, or can point me in a particular direction, I would be more than grateful. regards Mike
