Hi Brian,
come on, you know that you like a challenge
Dick Taylor does the steps but as 'extras' to the kit, like the buffer beam detail, which incidently is for one beam only!!
Looking forward to seeing the progress.

Hi Brian,
looking good as ever. Have you replaced the double doors from the supplied whitemetal ones with plastic/resin ones? I must get another of these kits, as I still have a set of Post Office transfers to use for 55994.

Mike
Hi Brian,
very nice work as usual.
I notice that MMP have a new website which gives all of the details of their forthcoming kits (no prices yet though)
http://www.djparkins.com/acatalog/Modern_Motive_Power.html
Some really tasty stuff there.

Hi Brian,
nice to know that you to get frustrated with a kit> The Blue/Grey white line is made easier by the HMRS transfer as the ends come already formed with the curved top and bottom so as long as your masking is set to the mid point of the returned ends,........... Robert is your fathers brother ..............as they say.
Like the look of the coach as well.

You could try this link to a two part article about Woodside - see nos 4 & 5

or try
www.merseysidemrs.co.uk and ask if anybody there has any information
best of luck

nearly right Alcazar, it was a Clan, but the 'toned down' effect was not quite as good as on the Duchess - should have previewed before posting
Blink and you miss it.

I find that adding half a dozen drops of Railmatch coal black or weathered black to their varnish, tones the gloss down to a 'working' finish.

Hi Brian,
great work as always.
Why oh why do JLTRT persist on using whitemetal guard irons when lost wax would be a much stronger answer.
Any news on the 33 yet?

Hi all,
I have just had this reply from Heljan UK to my question regarding 'unpowered' 20s
"Sorry, no. The cost of NOT fitting a motor is actually minimal in terms of production so little saving would be made on the 'end' price.
Regards,
Heljan UK"
so watch out for overheating on your controllers.

Mike
Hi all,
in view of the fact that the 20's ran in pairs for a great deal of their lives, I would have thought that Heljan would have also offered an 'un-powered' version - 4 motors (nearly 4 amps) on the length of most model layouts is a bit excesive. They would certainly sell!

Hi Tony,
some great work there as usual. Hope you fare better with the Fairburn than I did - but I did eventually get there and was quite pleased with the results.

Hi Jon G,
great set of photos.
Any chance of putting a date on 37057 on the tanks - it's a particular favourite of mine and would help for detailing purposes etc.

Hi Dave,
I have updated my thread on the Class 40 here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php/topic/5464-ressaldars-o-gauge-modelling/page__gopid__44489
suffice it to say that I think that it is the lack of height between the bogie swivel plate and the underside of the main chassis that is the problem and hopefully, it will be cured with the actions taken today.

Mike
Hi Brian,
I totally agree with you and will post all future 'Workshop' entries on this general forum.
Thanks for the notes about the MU cable and the sandpipes - I have also been 'mating' the inner and outer chassis pieces as you describe and will hopefully not have to do it for much longer.

Mike
