  1. 06:28 ECR -VIC cancelled (8 coaches) but managed to sardine myself on the 06:31 (4 coaches) Great start to the day
  2. Morning all. Woke to a clear sky and heavy frost. Just to improve my day, Southern are reporting disruption between ECR and VIC / LBG until at least 07:00. Deep joy. The plane crash is in my thoughts. I really feel for the families, airline staff and rescue workers. Now getting more concerned about Trev. Have a good day everyone

Andy. One of these days you'll actually slow down. Illness, injury and restricted movement don't seem to really do the trick as you still appear to manage to do more than most people with so much free time. Seriously though, I hope that the pain and restricted movement ease off soon. No doubt Peter will make sure you don't do too much at the club.
  4. Polly. A really useful set of pictures and great for reference. As others have said, looking forward to seeing more of your modelling skills
  5. Morning all. 5 degrees, overcast and damp. Not my idea of a spring morning. No reported problems on Southern either. Not a lot more to say after not being able to catch up on yesterdays postings, except, have a good day everyone
  6. Thanks for the info Jason. I think I'll have a look around and possibly a few conversations at Ally Pally next weekend. The way this week is going it looks like the next time I can get some free time will be Sunday
  7. First time I've managed to look in today. Don't have time to look back through the last three pages so generic commiserations, congratulations, get better etc as appropriate. Woke late so had to leave before even having coffee. A busy day and then a call out as soon as I returned home.
  8. The plan was to watch the rugby and do some modelling. I can't remember a six nations weekend like it. Oh well
  9. I'm starting to dislike Jason Having looked closely at the brake assembly for this wagon, I don't like it. Although it's a close match, it doesn't look right. This is my fault for having a close look at his work. It looks like I will need to find some decent etch brass parts. As promised, a photo of where this one has got to so far
  10. Jock. I hope that the lurgy loses the fight, especially from someone who is a fighter
  11. So am I. It feels good as well. Looking at the rolling stock I'm going to need, I'll end up with about 20 of these. My wallet may take a hammering at Ally Pally next weekend. I've also got a 20 ton goods brake van to construct for the coal rake. I might start this one tomorrow given the chance.
  12. Modelling has resumed. I haven't got as much done as I planned to today, the rugby got in the way. Started on a Parkside Dundas 7 plank coal wagon. I'm still not sure what I think of these kits yet. There was a lot of flash to clean off which has taken a bit longer than anticipated. Photos should appear tomorrow. One thing that I have noticed is that I only have screw couplings so I now need to order some instanter couplings.
  13. Al. Got to agree with Andy. I like them but I'm not sure either
  14. What a day of rugby. Unfortunately Wales didn't win the six nations but put in a good performance. Ireland played a stunning game against Scotland who didn't (IMHO) play well at all and England v France was a points fest. Congratulations Ireland. Now for the world cup

Nice to see another blue box on Bitton
  16. Well, the first part of my wish for the six nations has come true. Now just have to hope that the rest goes to plan
  17. Welcome back Scott. Looking forward to hearing about the updated plans.
  18. Morning all. Overcast and a bit chilly this morning. Mick - Keep the photos coming please. AndrewC - The problems with your GP seems to be more common than most people realise. As for uploading the appointment slots, they've either not been trained how to do it or can't be bothered to check taht it actually happens. Time for another coffee before some shopping so I can spend the afternoon doing some modelling for a change while watching the rugby. As far as I'm concerned the results should be a massive win for Wales, Scotland to win against Ireland and France to draw with England (Other opinions are available elsewhere) Most of the chores can wait till tomorrow.
  19. Al A nice piece of work for not having a lot of time. Do my eyes deceive me, or does that gate actually work?
  20. This one is certainly fired up. Hope you enjoy the game and we get the right result
  21. Lots of grey clouds this morning but it did get very dark. For a change, I managed the E part of POETS. Got home, sat down and woke up 90 minutes later. (What a waste) Andrew - You have my sympathy about the knee. I hope it gets resolved soon. Stewart - I don't know how you remain relatively calm about being turned away after so much waiting. The best health system that I've experienced during my travels is the German one. Maybe I should move there before anything serious goes wrong. When it comes to worst flights, the ones that worried me the most weren't in fixed wing aircraft but military helicopters tree hopping (both RAF & AAC)
  22. A combination of where I'm working and the amount of cloud means I won't be seeing the eclipse. It will just get a bit darker.
  23. Morning all. A slightly chilly 4 degrees but at least it's dry. Mick - Certainly sounds like an interesting journey. I hope the rest of your time is as good. Tex - I suspect that there are a lot of us who have been caught out in a similar fashion. I certainly have. POETS day today, lets hope it happens. Have a good day everyone
  24. Although this is outside my era, region and scale, I'll be following this with interest.
  25. Richard, I have to agree with you about the C130. Worst landing. Monarch into Gib during a thunder storm and high winds. Would have preferred a Crab Air VC10 but they were too busy (somewhere in the Middle East) Do I miss it? I certainly miss going to parts of the world that most people will never see
