  1. Fleetwood Shawe's photographic collection was donated to the Armstrong Trust. https://www.arpt51a.com/
  2. The "problem" may simply be how many firms are in the supply chain. A reasonable sized German model shop may deal direct with the German manufacturer - two levels of profit (manufacturer and the German shop). For us on the UK, we usually have to buy our through the manufacturers-appointed UK importer - three levels of profit (manufacturer, importer and the shop).
  3. Many of these photographs are from the camera of the late Fleetwood Shawe, who lived on Station Road in Brampton. His photographic collection was legendary as he had always taken pictures of the mundane for all the years he was alive, he passed away a few years at the age of 90+. This meant his collection contained many pictures going back to a time before many of us would remember. The diversity of the pictures he took are shown to great effect in Ernie Bracks' album. When Fleetwood passed away, there was the potential horror that the collection might be lost, but thankfully his son found a good home for with the Armstrong Trust, and there were many other organisations who would have offered it a home.
  4. Never assume that a photograph shows the true colour. Depending on how the picture is lit, the actual colour may not be truly shown. tractor_37260 states above that one of the Bachmann ScotRail 47/7s was bought at the Glasgow SEC show in February to help colour match. This is what we did for our N gauge Mark 3s that Dapol did for us, and the match was perfect. There is nothing to suggest that the result should not be the same with the 'OO' version. Dapol N Gauge ScotRail Mark 3s meet Graham Farish ScotRail Class 47/7 for the first time at a Bachmann trade open day
  5. It is also worth remembering that Heljan now have a new UK representative, someone who I am sure will not accept second best, when he himself has through his previous employments been paid to look for discrepancies in models, and report them to us. Over to you, Ben.
  6. We were very specific in what it was we wanted. Enough said.
  7. Are the BBAs suitable for the electrically hauled steel coil trains from Ravenscraig to Llanwern in the late '70s/early '80s? If so, might need a couple of the upcoming Hornby 87s to stick on the front!
  8. We asked about a limited edition 87 from Hornby. We are politely declined, and told to keep an eye on future Hornby main range announcements in the future. Hornby's decision was not taken because they are not doing special commissions.
  9. These are the prices being charged by the retailers who are stocking Revolution Trains, such as Rails and C&M.They are higher than you would pay if you dealt direct with Revolution, but it gives you the option to spread the cost, C&M give you the option to pay when the items are ready for sending out. Also to consider is the extra level of profit, we shops don't make these models available for no monetary benefit for us.
  10. They are loco hauled. Coach numbers are shown as 11074 and 12087
  11. 5.....4.....3.....2.....1......, but no "Thunderbirds!"
  12. The cyclists in the Giro d'Italia (Tour of Italy cycle race) have just passed the following sign: (For the uninitiated, the 1st three days of the race are taking place in Israel)
  13. I never realised how talented Wookies were.
  14. You have done better than me, I am still awaiting my reply. Thank you for confirming this.
  15. I am currently trialing a program for Hornby, and the information given is from that program which is linked to their stock system.
  16. Sorry to spoil the party, but it appears that the release dates have been nudged back again: R3580 (BR Blue) - 4th July (into Hornby) R3582 (IC Swallow) - 14th July R3656 (Virgin) - 16th July
  17. Humbrol are finally going to have available the acrylic paints which have been unavailable for many months....PLEASSSEEEEE!!! From a retailer whose Humbrol acrylic paint rack has had large gaps for many months
  18. A number of visitors to our shop are expressing concern that there is a 'To Let' sign attached to one of our windows on the Warwick Road side. I am happy to confirm that this relates to the empty shop that is below us, and we have every intention of continuing to remain where we are for many years ahead. Why would I want to do a proper job again? Mike Parsons, C&M Models
  19. Digitally operational Idris the Dragon?
  20. Please be aware that Phil has had some family issues recently, so may take some time to respond to any request. I can vouch for the fact that he is a reliable man to deal with.
  21. Back in the days when I was captain of Irthing Vale 2nd XI, one of our regular fixtures was at Seascale, where the cricket ground is within the old goods yard. The Cumbrian coast line ran past the boundary at the southern end of the ground. One year, our visit coincided with a steam special from Carnforth to Sellafield. the locomotive being 4472, and it was being filmed from a helicopter. Returning south from Sellafield, the helicopter was ahead of the train, so we would pause to watch the train pass 'behind the bowlers' arm', However, with a southerly breeze, the steam from "Flying Scotsman" blew on to the ground so that for a couple of minutes we couldn't see a thing! Our scorer took great delight in noting in the scorebook that "Train Stopped Play"
  22. This comment intrigues me. What on earth can be perceived as dangerous within a Thomas train set? As a retailer, I better be prepared to make a lot of youngsters and their parents very disappointed in the future.
