  1. Jack, There may be something that needs to be done, but as O gauge track is of a heavier code than OO (has this been considered, which profile/Code of rail ?) then it may be strong enough to withstand prolonged use. Also if the ends of the module track are kept within the edge of the baseboard, so the joining track rests on the module board, rather than the traditional rail-to-edge-of-board concept, it may help with the longevity. Stu (Main reason for this suggestion is I can't make an end plate to those sorts of tolerances.....) Edit: Perhaps my 4" suggestion was too low, as you've mentioned 6" would allow tortoise motors.
  2. Have just added my vote to this poll. A thought or two on connecting modules together - if all modules were , say, 4 inches from table to top of rail, then modules could be linked together using just a short length of O gauge track. This would need to be on it's own support block, but each end would just need to be a set-track type of fishplated joint. Thus the modules themselves wouldn't need to link, so no problem in defining bolt-holes, etc. Electrically the layouts would have a plug/ socket at each end to link to the neighbouring link section. The red track is the module track, the green is the link piece. Stu
  3. I'd like each of the plain wall sheets to fill the maximum space, and each have a second page with quions, cappings, footings, window arches, etc.
  4. Still very much a work in progress, but I'm quite pleased with how it looks so far.
  5. There is already a set of hanging tiles in the Scratchbuild section (TX41) - but this is a flat sheet. Could we have a page/s of printed tile/slate strips, with space to overlap each successive layer ? Example here (with grateful thanks to Penlan !!)
  6. FoLlowing from Etched Pixel's post here and in the new church kit thread, how about making each of the pages of each kit available individually ? For a fee of, say 50p each, it would mean we could buy specific bits to make our own models, sort of expanding the scratchbuild portfolio. Stu
  7. I've posted this in the Modelling a photograph thread, with the real building for comparison.
  8. As I mentioned in the new church thread, but will repeat here for clarity 1970's semi detatched Wimpy-style houses 1930's-1950's detatched bungalows Also , what about static caravans ? Stu
  9. That's a nice model of The Sloop Inn ! And the harbour has a definite 'Boscastle / Port Issac' feel to it. Stu
  10. Randall, that picture is great, if you could take it from a scale 5' 6" sort of height it would be hard to tell it's a model. Stu
  11. Jack - yours has come out really well, mine is just semi-white letters on a grey background... but it's way better than the printed one I had before. Mikkel - why not just do a fascia and baseboard - call it Beeching Station... Stu
  12. Following Shortliner's quests for magnetic letters for his 2010 chalenge layout, I purchased a tub of similar items from the local Early Learning shop. Juggling with the contents, I have manage to come up with the following : This will, of course, be painted once the glue has dried - though not sure what colour as yet... Stu
  13. The last line of the link from cromptonnut says : "The old Mark 1 sleeping cars were phased out by the early 1980s, and so far the Mark 3s have had an excellent safety record." So probably not 100% prototypical to use a Mk 3 coach, but it's your layout . Stu

    A Boxfile Diorama?

For a fold up boxfile, see Porth Byhan on the old RMweb. Stu
  15. There are also lots of conveyor belts in the china clay area, so an overhead conveyor system (similar to Mr Nevard's Cement Quay & extension) over the track would not seem out of place. Stu
  16. That's a clever use of the glass-fronted cabinets, both display AND fiddle yard ! Stu
  17. Not my layout, but a shot of Rob Foster's Osney Town taken today at the West of England show.
  18. Morning all. Off toTesco, then fetching SWMBO, then off to West of England exhibition for the day. Will post photos later. Stu

    Keyhaven in Stereo

Spot the difference ? The loco on the right is slightly further back, as can be seen by the point lever being in front of a different part of the connecting rod. (or the camera is slightly further round to the right).
  20. Hi John, I follow your blog because you do different things to the norm. The conversion of the Playmobil stock is both inventive and inspiring, the speed at which you build the orange box layout models is amazing and Mossley Terrace was just stunning. Whatever you do is done well, it's always interesting to see. Stu
  21. What about the flowers/chocs for SWMBO to ease the purchase of your new loco/coach/kit/subscription ?
