  1. Direct link to newsletter: http://myemail.constantcontact.com/Rapido-News-UK-Vol--16---The-Latest-and-Greatest.html?soid=1101318906379&aid=KyCNDa0Svm4 From newsletter: OO Gunpowder Van Sometimes Rapido projects have a way of taking on a life of their own. UK10, Rapido’s OO Gunpowder Van (GPV) is one of them! It was started as a fun and “simple” project some time ago and shared between Gareth and me, mostly because we both wanted some! It would be just a quick and easy little project. Of course, “Simple,“ “Quick” and “Easy” are three words not found in the Rapido Dictionary of Project Design Terminology! Instead of one “simple” model, we currently have designed two body shells, two underframes and three sets of buffers! This mix-and-match set of components will allow us to accurately model pre-war GWR, LMS, LNER, MOD and almost all of the post-war BR standard versions. We will be making a formal announcement with livery and pricing details as soon as we each have enough time away from other projects to concentrate on it! Sounds good!
  2. As post 65 these are merchandise wagons, rather than mineral wagons. No doubt occasionally used for minerals - plenty of evidence of other merchandise wagons being used for minerals on occasion though. Your train set and all that though!
  3. Hesitate to make what might be a negative comment, but wondering about the roof slates. Seems quite a large gap between individual slates in a row? Would say that they normally butt up to each other. The rest all looks very impressive! Delicate, square and neat.

  6. My vague recollection of the Woodland Scenics "Cinders" is of still quite large particles and all about the same size, as the picture above . Do you have any scope to source real coal ash? Have previously sieved this to gain appropriately sized material (a messy job!). That then can't be stuck down as the usual granite ballast as it floats. https://www.flickr.com/photos/110691393@N07/36572898815/in/album-72157638437955544/ would seem to suggest ash ballast, everywhere within the station at least.
  7. Four crew missing, hopes fading, according to 9th March press release: https://www.maerskline.com/news I'm sure your post not meant to make light of the situation.
  8. Quite a job keeping up with Ernie Brack uploads! Some colour views: Beattock, undated. S C Crook: https://flic.kr/p/GFpNm5 Fauldhead Colliery, Kirkconnel, 12/04/68. J M Boyes: https://flic.kr/p/GP8svs https://flic.kr/p/22bVhVf https://flic.kr/p/FhN5VZ https://flic.kr/p/22bVhDy
  9. Doesn't seem to be a thread for this? Or an entry in the exhibition calendar? http://www.keighley-mrc.org.uk/page14.php Postcode for the venue seems to actually be BD20 6EB (http://uak.org.uk/contact-us/) No idea if any good or not but in the area for the spring gala on the KWVR anyway. http://kwvr.co.uk/event/2018-spring-gala/2018-03-09/
  10. Next picture from those at Corral's Wharf is a pressed end door wagon on the same tippler. 093 Corralls Wharf Southampton 10.71 by George Woods, on Flickr
  11. Third Rail Report - Sheffield Freight. BTF from 1961. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Duoq7esgf5s From about 3 mins, 12 secs. Scrap steel loads and a couple of "fresh out the box" wagons. But the whole thing worth a watch.

    Dapol Class 21/29

Thought there might be some value in this linked thread on here? http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/107181-Hornby-class-29-–-ex-works/
  13. Hi. Have you posted your Accurascale concerns on an appropriate thread, or passed them on to them directly? If not it seems a bit ambitious to expect them to pick up your concerns here.

    Dapol Class 21/29

Doesn't seem to be any more images available on the website. Nor discussion in the Dapol Digest", yet. Perhaps that's a a good place to make comments on the posted image/others that are made available, so that Dapol read them?
  15. Thanks. Might catch a greater audience here? As I said difficult to know where best to post.
  16. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/in-pictures-43141667 Not sure if this is the right place for this, but thought it worthy of a wider audience. I hope not posted previously!

  19. Didn't realise they were still in business! Seems more 7mm products, but also some 4mm. Website is: https://www.kemilway.com/index.html
  20. Hi. Are the descriptions for each model on your website as the descriptions that were in the article briefly featured in the recent "BRM visits" video about you on here? I guess it was maybe the Bachmann collectors club magazine? That looked very useful in explaining the differences. Might be worth posting it on here as well, so all the info can be read with the relevant pictures in one go? And therefore help people decide which ones they want, as otherwise the choice is a bit bewildering! What about a tabulation of the differences, as Hattons Barclay tanks? e.g. Sides - riveted or welded, axlebox types etc? Certainly look good.
  21. Presumably easy if the standard axle length is used, and you don't need to file back the W irons etc, which I understand are issues with some other models? (Just an "armchair modeller" at the moment!) At least it seems consideration is being given. Hopefully those with the test samples consider your point.
  22. Hi. With regard to your point 3, the wheels look like brass? Is that just a temporary thing for this sample? Presumably the wheel treads will remain as metal, even if the front and rear faces are painted. Or are wheels just blackened now? I was wondering if the tread needed to look more steel like, but a quick look at prototype pictures on Mr Bartlett's website maybe suggest bright steel isn't actually that obvious. I understand that you have had engagement with the EM Gauge Society? Therefore are the axles the standard length (26mm) to allow alternative EM or P4 wheels to be fitted? And is there space for them? I think I read that you were designing to allow for this? I guess checking replacements fit, and can be got in/out without major strain on the underframe (or your fingers!), is part of your checking. This model doesn't really fit with my modelling interests, but am always happy to see new goods stock being produced, and especially where it doesn't duplicate prototypes already available as kits. Best of luck with this and look forward to future models.
