  1. Thanks for heads up and link. It says it is between junctions 10 and 11, which looks to be the length over the Friarton Bridge, so, if coming from the south, then the part just after junction 10, where you turn off for Perth city centre. I suppose there could be lane reductions in advance of 10 to get down to the space needed for the necessary contra-flow for the works.
  2. Early engineering samples illustrated in latest Hornby “Engine Shed” update: https://www.Hornby.com/uk-en/news/the-engine-shed/mk3-sd-new-vans-engineering-samples
  3. They had some double deck ones near me until quite recently. Pretty sure it was one flight of steps within the length of the building, but the door might have been in a different place to yours. If you google double deck portakabins and switch to images you will find some like what you have done. The supports for the landing for some seemed very lightweight. I did look briefly at the proper portakabin website but didn’t immediately see any images that might help, but it might be worth a more in-depth exploration. Hope of some assistance!
  4. See Exhibition and Events listing for details:
  5. A few more colour images. From TrainsandTravel on Flickr. Apologies if any are repeats! In ascending date order. Loco coal, including French side door. At Barrow Road shed, Bristol. 06/03/63. Little rust spots. And short end door stripe. At goods yard at Wembley Park. 11/04/64. Very thin/no paint in places. At Nottingham Victoria station. 18/04/64. Three loads of pit props? Near Hampole station, on the Great Central & Great Northern Joint Line. 02/05/64. Hope of interest.
  6. This post is the end result of a member modelling one of the ones not represented by the Airfix etc. kit and might be of interest:
  7. An update to an old thread about Prestwins has reminded me of it, see: Don’t know if of any use or too late in the day but there is a picture of a rake of three Prestwins at Burntisland in that thread. I’ll try and post a link for your thread there as those following that thread might not be aware of this thread! Hope that okay.
  8. "Scottish Modeller" is probably your man. Nothing produced yet, to my knowledge.
  9. Hi. what is a “DA”?
  10. They don't need to be particularly healthy specimens! Birch trees are essentially weeds, establish themselves everywhere! Just thinking that might be something that would get established adjacent to the fenceline, where nobody thinks maintenance is their responsibility.
  11. Just in case you haven’t seen it, the 2mm Association do a wee booklet about point ridding, see: http://www.2mm.org.uk/products/nms/index.html I got a copy at the recent York exhibition but have only flicked through it. Seem to recall it got a good review somewhere, perhaps in MRJ? Would a platform surface be so black? If it is meant to be tarmac would agree not be more appropriate? e.g. look at roads, probably only black when freshly laid. impressed with progress!
  12. No problem re pictures or locomotives. The middle picture in your post (retained above) shows fairly limited rust, even years (40? 50?) after closure and, presumably, no maintenance since. The third picture looks to be of the opposite side, and, if so, seems to show a lot more rust. I would suggest the rust when operational would be pretty muted, and probably almost lost under more general muck from the atmosphere. But even in the above it doesn't look that dirty, but I suppose less air borne dirt nowadays.
  13. Hi. In contrast to above comments about areas being underweathered, which I would agree with, I doubt a bridge would be allowed to get to the fully rusty condition I think you are trying to show. Rather they would, presumably, be maintained/painted. Following examples from early 1960s, the period I assume you are intending to portray, suggest bridges kept painted (examples are just some pictures I have saved in Flickr favourites for various reasons). Not in any particular order: Dundee, 1960 - I think dirty rather than anything else, but an underlying dark grey? Burntisland 1967 Guard Bridge , 1964. Hard to judge because of shadows, but looks like a metallicy dark grey? Coupar Angus, 1964. Bridge fairly peripheral to picture but looks to be that same dark, metallic grey. Picture really saved because of a whole lot of other factors! Alloa, 1968. Pinkhill, Edinburgh 1966. Pretty familiar with this one and still there. First picture I thought to share with you. Grey seems a bit lighter because picture slightly over exposed? My memory says the same dark, metallic grey as some other pictures I've posted. Thanks to original photographers for taking the pictures and to them, Flickr account holders for putting them online. If any shouldn't be here then please advise and I'll edit my post to remove them. Hope this of some interest.
  14. There was a poster for these displayed on their stand at the York exhibition over the Easter weekend, I should have taken a picture of it. Perhaps Rapido could post a copy of it here in way of an update? Only bit of it I can remember is that it said something along the lines of allowing 113 wagons to be modelled. I may well have that number wrong!
  15. Maybe two clans needed? See: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/123745527050?ul_noapp=true
  16. Correct, in museum in BR black. http://www.srpsmuseum.org.uk/index.htm See: https://www.bkrailway.co.uk/ to plan a visit!
  17. Wonder if it is possible for the thread title to be edited to reflect the new dates and now not include the postponement? Event also advertised for new dates by roadside advertising on A701.
  18. A few photos of the real thing, from 53A Models of Hull Collection on Flickr: E70648E at Doncaster c.1962, B&W. https://flic.kr/p/29GuEDE E70677E at Andover - c.1969, colour. https://flic.kr/p/YiZN8b E70702E c.1969, colour. https://flic.kr/p/ZrVumZ
  19. Your kit features in "Small Suppliers Forum" in the latest MRJ, No. 270. Includes prices and contact details, so might prompt further orders!
  20. Wickes, Dumfries branch, has 3mm thick MDF sheets (607mm x 1829mm) at £1.00. Seems to be end of range, this online: https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-General-Purpose-MDF-Board---3mm-x-607mm-x-1829mm/p/164524 Also so a few other similar sizes of chipboard and “holey” MDF, but the above seemed the most model railway orientated. Obviously no idea if available elsewhere, but might be worth a look if you need this and/or passing by another branch. Money goes to their charity, Alzheimer’s research: https://www.wickes.co.uk/alzheimers
