  1. Looks well worthwhile. How fiddly is the inside glazing painting? Cheers, 26power
  2. Interesting link. Given the discussion re the Heljan 86 on the relevant thread, is this reference "and we know our Class 86 from our Class of 68." just a coincidence? Cheers, 26power
  3. With regard to reintroduction of Eastfield Models chassis kits, there were notices on the front of the Burntisland stand at Glasgow saying that this was happening.  Unfortunately I can't remember the name under which they would be sold.  The J83 was already out and available on the Parkside stand, at, I think, £28.  Somewhat more than Eastfield Models chassis kits were going for on Ebay earlier this year, if I remember correctly. Cheers, 26power
  4. The lamp irons inboard of the tail (?) lamps are pretty non standard - usually outside (and lower) ala Heljan model. A quick look at the pics in "BR Fleet Survey, No. 1" shows: D5300 and D5303 with them inside. The former as delivered and the latter as 5303 with original yellow front and as 26 003 with later yellow cab sides. D5314 and D5319 with them outside. 2 x shots of the former are 1959 so presumably as delivered. No doubt further browsing would enable the changeover to be pinned down. But 004 as preserved has them outside, so presumably eventually the position standardised. Cheers, 26power
  5. Might have been for a lamp. Â The "protrusions" look like they might be cast iron (I assume) steps/handholds. Â There is a similar post with these in the recreated goods yard at Bo'ness. Cheers, 26power

    Looks interesting. ?
  8. Whilst I've voted I think there might be a better chance of pursuading Hornby by as many people as possible remembering to suggest such locos on their questionnaire/comments sheet at the upcoming Glasgow exhibition. Cheers, 26power
  9. Hope discussion of topless mermaids doesn't upset anyone who strays by accidently! Cheers, 26power
  10. Hi I think Cambrian have just brought out this wagon? ?
  11. For something being used as a starting point I can understand the lack of concern about some parts of the accuracy. ? Or when there was nothing else available - I did up a rake of the Hornby TTAs (starting mainly with the cheap "trainset" yellow and red ones.) ? I don't think I would start there for the same thing now. ? Rather, I was trying to cover the using "as is" situation, which is presumably how the new wagons will be used. ? It comes back to a preference for RTR manufacturers to get things right, rather than wrong. (I assume with your example you also need to add the cost of the etched walkway, the transfers and your time?) Cheers, 26power
  12. I would suggest that would be a very small part of sales if there are two suppliers making the same vehicle and one is "better" (ie more accurate) than the other and the price difference is relatively minor. ? For example, if you want some 4 wheel oil tankers (TTA) you can have either the Hornby (30 odd year old(?)) version or the more recent Bachmann one. ? Given the choice of these I would reckon most modellers would go for the Bachmann one. ? Might be a different story if you have a stock of Hornby ones already, and the time to do them up, but even then I think there would be plenty modellers "trading up". Cheers, 26power
  13. My detail pictures of D2767 at Bo'ness now on my fotopic page: http://devorgilla.fotopic.net/c1776846.html Hope these help. Info on SRPS diesel group page is under Fleet/SRPS diesels. ?
  14. Nice to find this thread as I have one of these kits in the "to do" cupboard. Pity it took me a month to find it from when you started, although I think I recognise the compensation arm pictures, but didn't obviously know what they were related to. ?
  15. OT, but what new LGW grain vans are these? Cheers, 26power
  16. Is it just me that can't see your pictures in this thread?
