  1. Well it is the new religion after all. Good choice of location.
  2. I should think that a mild virus being attached to a bin would be the least of your worries in the realm of bin cleanliness.
  3. Does anyone have an update on the Standard 5s due this year? I guess it could be how longs a piece of string?
  4. Not much to report. Have weathered 60027 Merlin in standard St Rollox all over filth. 60024 Kingfisher in fairly presentable Ferryhill grime.
  5. Superb stuff. Those class 7 flasks were battering along it was never like that How long is the run of your scenic section in feet please?
  6. Still no shed so just getting on with weathering as and when stock arrives. Pretty happy with how the weathering is going. City of Liverpool of Kingmoor Depot works an afternoon Carlisle-Perth vans.
  7. The sign highlighted in the pic is AWB (apply wagon brakes). Can anyone remember seeing class F or H freights stopping there to 'pin' down before continuing North?
  8. Excellent, glad its not just me. I used to have a 20 sided dice when operating Caolisport rolled every 12 hours to bring up an array of operational and technical problems. Really brings a layout to life and challenges operators. The idea of stepping up locos and stock or working around points failures is part and parcel of railway operations. No point having a fantastic model if its not going to be operated correctly.
  9. No change still as of today. Very sad, I wonder what happened? If you can time it right and it suits your modelling these recordings are better than sound files contained within engines.
  10. Thank you for that. Even more excited about it now.
  11. The more I look the better it gets. Plenty of space and minimal railway modelling. Think its the only way to capture the essence of railways. Certainly up there where you have chosen but pretty sure it applies to most locations. It would have been so tempting to pack a load in that super space.
  12. As I'm only running plain line on the visible part of this layout i was think of using finescale track. Are locos like the Farish Scot, Jub and possibly the Black Five ok to run on it? I assume all of the Dapol stuff and the later Farish locos like the Duchess, Class 40 and A2/A1 are ok? Any knowledge on this out there? Thanks Claggy
  13. Good finds. That would sort of suggest Perth and Carlisle men had them that early too. Plot thickens. No need to apologise, we're just working through a complicated period. All good learning.
  14. Yes just adds to the intrigue. All probably correct assumptions I would imagine. We'll never know if it followed the steam diagram to Carstairs or not. I imagine it would be down to who signed them and who didn't. The photograph may exist because it was a 'rare' cop. More digging required..... One of my colleagues owns 47712 and works on the others in the fleet, he's a bit of an oracle on these things, i'll ask him.
  15. Hmmm. I was of the same opinion. Here is a pic though of one working the UP postal at Carmont in 1965, suggesting possibly that Ferryhill and Perth men signed them.... I think I will be covering the dates from 55-67 so should be ok Photo credit P. Hoquard, from the Scottish live journal site
  16. First clip from this excellent upload shows virtually my plan in full. Two appropriate locomotives too!
  17. How much space have you got in that shed? It's got that feel of the Far North already. Excellent Claggy
  18. 3 Arch Bridge at MP135 which happens also to be the summit of the line between Stirling and Perth. Its a bought kit, weathered and altered. Really struggled to get the right redish sandstone colour. Fairly happy but will see when there is a railway for it to sit on. The bottom 5 cm will be buried in the foam i intend to use.
  19. Can I just confirm with you guys who have the knowledge......Do you know whether 46229 make it to Aberdeen before shed was retired from the mainline in the early 90s? I can't recall 46233 going either yet....
  20. I just wanted to say i have learned a great deal from your uploads. I'm going to make the best job i can of the pretty famous three arch bridge near Gleneagles. Lots of excellent tips. This is what i'm aiming at. I'm using the pretty poor plastic kit as a base and intend on cladding it using some of the process you You wouldn't happen to know who might produce the best red sandstone print that might get me somewhere close this would you? Thanks Claggy
