  2. Not a passenger train, but it does fit in your 1980-1990 timeframe 31312 passes Lawrence Hill in Bristol with two parcel vans, 2/6/81. Have you searched Flickr for photos? The Barnstaple line was worked by various loco and coaches sets over the years, I searched for 'Barnstaple 50' and found 3 coach trains hauled by 50s , there must be two coach trains out there! cheers
  3. Football, where it is accepted by many that stability is usually one ingredient for success. Looking at the list of managers only 3 have been at their club for over 5 years, (though I think quite a few Exeter fans want rid of Paul Tisdale) over 50 clubs have had a manager for less than a year, and six clubs have no manager at present! cheers
  4. In the first year of the play offs, 1986 1987, in division 4 Aldershot (remember them!) finished 6th on 70 points and beat Wolves, who were 4th with 79, to gain promotion Aldershot had already beaten division 3 Bolton who got relegated from division 3 to division 4 in the process cheers
  5. The 1977 TOPS Location handbook shows it as 83619 - Teignbridge Siding - customer Watts Blake Bearne cheers
  6. Hi Adrian, that is a lot of work you have put in there! One traffic flow that was still passing in 1978 when I first joined Bristol TOPS was the Texaco tanks, 4 wheeled tanks from PBA Chittening estate (I think) via the PBA Royal Edward Yard to Exeter City Basin (the sidings on the down side). I seem to recall they went down as a block train in the afternoon, but returned discharged formed into one of the night services from St Blazey which called at KIngsland Road to detach, they then went down to Avonmouth on one of the local trips later that morning, edit looking at your simplifier 7B11 02.50 Exeter Riverside - Avonmouth looks the likely service to return the discharged tanks, along with other general traffic. cheers
  7. Thanks for the interesting information about the current developments at Crediton. And since we are on the subject of weeds here was the view at Copplestone last year, (my grandad was a relief signalman and worked here in the 1920s) Copplestone looking north 14/6/2014 cheers
  8. That footbridge looks temporary to me. I think the existing station footbridge is listed, so perhaps it is undergoing repair? cheers
  9. My modelling skills are limited, being almost entirely confined to armchair modelling, however when I was adding detail to my layout I bought a few Peco ones. Here are some photos, though I think I should have dusted them first! One with SR style paintwork And having cut off the lamps I reused them, this being particularly useful to gain an extra inch on a run-round cheers
  10. I have just been catching up with this enjoyable thread. The recently added pictures of Bristol Temple Meads brought back memories, especially the last shot from the footbridge. On the near left of that shot the BRSA club and staff canteen are now no more, I spent a lot of time in both those buildings, as well as the previously mentioned Reckless Engineer pub over the road, back then known as the Isambard Brunel. Many thanks
  11. Thanks. We lived at Exeter in the 1960s near Exmouth Junction so I remember green stock on the Waterloo trains. Seaside trips, usually by train as we had no car until the late 1960s, were to Paignton/Torquay, Dawlish Warren, or most often Exmouth, cheers
  12. Another view of Paignton in July 1983, it must be near going home time for me. The steady procession of loco hauled holiday trains which has been arriving and departing all day has now let up and DMU worked local services, which have been pretty well absent during the day, can now resume. Class 118 set P471 ticks over in the up platform at Paignton waiting to form the 18.15 service to Exeter St, Davids, 31/7/83 cheers
  13. The photo of D1011 Western Thunderer reminds me of summer holidays back in the late 1960s, sometimes our trip to the seaside would be to Paignton/Goodrington. I remember we would settle for a picnic near the boating lake in Goodrington Park from where it was possible to see the tops of stock either in the sidings or going to Kingswear. My memory tells me the stock seemed to be a variety of maroon and blue/grey, would I have seen green stock there as well? cheers
  14. On the way to the Salisbury model railway exhibition the other day in Wilton I spotted this in a field near to the White Horse pub in Quidhampton 09/05/2015 cheers
  15. I am now thinking I must have briefly seen this layout at an exhibition a few years ago, all very plausible, and nicely done cheers
  16. I think it must have just been a shower, looking at this photo taken later the weather seems to have brightened An unidentified class 47 stands at Paignton with MK1 stock, the former BR class 03 D2192 now named Ardent stands in the sidings of the Torbay and Dartmouth Railways Queens Park station, 31/7/82 cheers
  17. Here is another 1980s view of Paignton from the footbridge 47138 departs a rainy Paignton with the 12.20 departure for Manchester Piccadilly, 31/7/82 cheers
  18. Assuming D9522 isn't broken it could well be a local transfer from Bristol West Depot to Bristol East Depot which is pretty much on the level even a class 08 is shown for 510 tonnes in the local loads book, and from Temple Meads to East Depot a class 08 could take 930 tonnes! cheers
  19. A class 08, at Temple Meads, without a brake van,........... I'm horrified!!! Seriously though Rob, this is top quality. I loved seeing it at Cheltenham, you have made something quite special here cheers
  20. The turntable is a relatively recent installation, 2008 I think, for much of the preservation era there was no turntable at Minehead, So your model can represent Minehead prior to 2008! cheers
  21. It has taken me until about 30 seconds ago to realise the significance of Strongbow, very poor considering my RMWeb name! cheers
  22. Yes I reckon you are right, looking at the photostream that the above Flickr shot is in George Woods pictured it at Reading, Ashchurch, and Hereford, cheers
  23. On Flickr D847 is photographed at Ashchurch on 20/4/69 on LCGB 1Z69 railtour, looks the same place to me https://www.flickr.com/photos/52467480@N08/7307832416/in/photolist-qmcSeL-c4nj3s-c8Lycu-c8LxLq-c8LyrL-c8LxYC-c8LxjJ-c8LxxQ-4jiEKL/ cheers
  24. Back in July 1982 here is a view looking the other way off the bridge towards Paignton 50027 Lion is on the short trip from Paignton heading towards Goodrington with empty stock, 31/7/82 cheers
  25. Yes that is a class 120 set, I remember riding in DMUs in the late 1960s/early 1970s still with the miniature buffet, but never saw one in use. In my 1974 Combined Volume the centre Trailer Buffet Second cars were classified class 179, but later became class 120, cheers
