Do you ever look at this thread?

Loads of Forest shots on there to inspire you

Hi Phil
Have gone down this route with 5528. Backdating the 31111 body shell could involve boiler footsteps and filler, nose end doors and body side rib depending on chosen loco
Coming at it the other way and updating a 31/0 still involved the rib (Hornbys painted on their green loco), grille in engine room door and zorst ports
See #374 in this thread - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/11410-abbotswood-junction-including-prototype-photos-5528-plus-wagons/page-15- not perfect but can live with it!
Cheers

Left to right as we are looking at the loco the hoses are
Air
Vac brake
Coupling
Steam Heat
Air
No train air brake in that photo - the air pipes are for controlling the fuel rack and air brakes on other locos when coupled - not sure which is which, this may help.
http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/35527-vac-steam-air-pipe-fittings-colours/
Loco brakes would be air - train brakes vacuum. Have a look at http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=class+47+buffer+beam+hoses&view=detailv2&&&id=333DA614CD66D36A1C1CCF9642E46A6DD2719164&selectedIndex=168&ccid=IO8rnXNu&simid=608035801930336816&thid=JN.e9XSZgPumXrXQtfQgOwQRg&ajaxhist=0- the train air brake hose is above the steam heat hose, this loco also has ETH cable on right
Confusing isn't it?

Given its coupled to a Wizzo think we can dismiss Hull!

Hi James
1569 wasn't built with serck grilles see https://www.flickr.com/photos/59835095@N02/6263064059/in/set-72157627649152349
So the D1547 shell is correct for the loco in this period as has the original 3 grilles
Kind regards
Phil

Never heard of a loco with sercks on one side only - its a complete cooler group unit so both sides would have to change
See http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/63406-them-serck-shutters-dont-get-it/for some excellent further gen

Have to agree Rob
Only question is what other treasures are stashed away?

Sorry Phil slip of the finger, as for the photos from my large collection glad you like them.
Cheers GARETH
Welcome - and you arent the only one with fat fingers believe me!
Now I am sure that a Teddy at Bilston - photo 2 - would cause apoplexy! Isnt it another of those confusingly named Forest places - Bilson?
Cheers

Hi Gareth
I know they are a rough lot in t'forest but that's Tufts Junction not Tuffs! Hee hee
Where on earth are all these Ted photos coming from they are fantastic.

With a train of that length, it tends to make one think is D9502 awaiting a crew change,a fitter, or replacement off Bath Road ?
.
First class shots again Gareth.

Loco only 7 months old - looks like there is much joviality - or its commiseration and peering at the jackshaft drive!

Just don't tell her!! I tried to explain what was doing to the Mrs the other day but I just got that blank look, I then showed her photos, but again I got that blank look, it was at that point I gave up and just watched corrie with her.
Cheers, Paul
EEEEK!!!! That is pretty severe punishment! Did it involve handcuffs?

More Teddy Bear eye candy - wonderful Bank holiday viewing, many thanks
Amazing to think D9502 still has that paintwork

Has now moved to Bury for long awaited restoration - http://www.elrdiesel.info/fleet-d9502.php#start- unlike poor old D9522, must have been one of the first to have been cut up but her spirit lives on - http://modelengineeringwebsite.com/Class_14_loco.html

Well done Paul for making a considered decision, EM isn't at all difficult, if myself and Mr Tailby can manage it then anyone can. Support and advice is always here, there are enough EM guys to prop you up when you wobble!
Just need to get that Abbotswood bloke to see the light and everything is cushty!
Mike.
Thanks Phil & Mike, it was difficult enough for me to make the decision with just two boards, so I think Abbotswood will do just nicely in OO, although Phil could just build an EM version to!
Thanks again though to everyone really looking forward to starting it though which will hopefully be doin
Cheers, Paul
I don't think SWMBO would be writing me any more cheques to that excellent etchings company if I did.....

Are we talking blanking plate or PCB here
My early 22 has just fried a V4 chip so am going to replace the PCB before I fit another - the blanking plat ehas no role to play in that of course
Cheers

Ah 0f course - theres me talking on old currency!

Not much to go on but looking at the position of the OHLE flash at this end of the loco 5501 is a possibility

Cant be much doubt that's a WR named 47 Dave
Would that have caused a stir up north?
Phil
-
Hi Jonny
Reckon you are right with the location - that's an Up train so heading east on the up fast
Based on the reporting number and preponderance of Choc/cream stock I reckon that's 1959/60 ish - see discussions at http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/13298-brw-train-reporting-numbers/page-3
Also Sudeley Castle had a Collett tender from at least 1962 - that's the earliest picture I can find with that tender, she went for scrap in 64 with that, but did have a HAwkesworth tender earlier - will see if other pictures come to hand
FOr some reason I feel this picture looks familiar - I do wonder if its a Richard Blenkinsop , copy perhaps?
Phil

And a Big Ed at Reading too - don't recall other sightings although 73s certainly did
