  1. This is RMWeb, we're more into brainf*rting than brainstorming Now a breakdown crane sounds like a good plan!
  2. It was kinda tongue-in-cheek! First, you'd have to settle the arguement over gauge Although the J94 & Clarton would make a lot of sense, maybe with a couple of wagons to go with them.
  3. Er, thats the second anti-wishlist post you've made here ... you don't have to read these threads if you don't like them ... as others have said, 'tis just a bit of fun (& PR) Speaking of which Dave, could we have a rtr Jinty in 3mm please? I reckon they'd sell by the handful
  4. How about a SECR 'P' tank? Plenty of liveries from SECR to BR and private owner/industrial ones as well. 50% of the class available to measure in preservation. Plus, like the LBSC Terrier it has the small and cute factor. Should scale up to O gauge well, although maybe a challenge in N. Oh, and it would be better than the Terrier which is already available in all 3 scales ...
  5. Don't forget the one which went Dutch in preservation!
  6. If we're counting rivets the real Colonel Stephens didn't stretch his buttons quite so much ... and being of WW1 vintage would have had his rank on his cuffs, not his shoulders
  7. Does the stock run ok on this kind of radii? Absolutely cracking layout.
  8. And more importantly, 'based on' being vaguely accurate, unlike there 5, 7 & 8 planks ... RTR O gauge is only a good thing if it is accurate - it can be basic - but it must be accurate. IMHO - **** the opening doors and interiors, just get the underframe and body shape right.

    Dapol class 86

I brought a NSE 86 coz it was cheap and it looks pretty ...
  10. Any chance of some pics? They sound interesting. Yup, this was a non-starter, although it had less to do with the number of people voting and more to do with the number of people building. Apparently the GOG's own double track modular standard has gone the same way. A shame given the number of micro O gauge layouts on here, and the success of the SWAGs OO version.
  11. I'm in the middle of a toddler inspired break atm, but my latest project is/was loosely based on the SECR in 7mm. I also couldn't resist an SECR C, even though my 4mm interests lie in western region territory. I seem to recall there are others on rmweb who have southern pre-grouping interests ...

Of course, it rhymes with burp I finally acquired one of the new releases after my local suffered from an order 'problem'. Absolutely superb in almost every way, and the side skirts went on a lot better than my blue one from the original batch. I say almost because it does have slightly sloppy pockets. Not serious enough to affect the kadee operation, but certainly a lot sloppier than the original batch.
  14. Right I'm not defending any muppets that try and 'run' level crossings, but I can see why, in frustration some people are tempted ... ... a couple of days ago I was driving along the A323 in Ash, Surrey. It crosses the railway line right by Ash station (literally, the crossing as at the end of the platform). The crossing lights come on, the barriers go down and everyone obediently stops. There isn't a train in the platform. We then have to wait 8.5 minutes for the train to appear, doing about 20mph. It is travelling from the opposite side to the station. I wasn't in a hurry, but I could tell the van driver behind me was. Why oh why did we have to wait so long? I could understand it from a technical point of view if the train had been stopped over the sensors in the station, but it hadn't, it must have been miles down the track when the barriers went down. Like I said, whilst I don't in any way shape or form condone stupidity, I can see why it occurs ...
  15. Grrr, it was easier to forget the layout whilst it was tucked away, but now I've been reminded about it. No chance of getting it out before the next house move in September, but afterwards I might have to get my finger out ... ... thank you for the reminder Les!!
  16. Unfortunatly work, kids and several house moves have meant both my layouts haven't seen the light of day in a couple of years now ... ... I'll get back to it one day ... and I have been working on several rolling stock projects to keep me out of mischief.
  17. According to 'BR Southern Region in Colour' some Hastings units were used as depot shunters, made up for pairs of driving trailers, hence the arrow at both ends - could this be one of those?
