  1. Where was the 3rd pic taken, can you remember?
  2. I'd be particularly interested in any pictures of West Penard or the stretch from there to Glastonbury if you have them? Fantastic pictures ... shame i was born in the 70s and therefore missed the real thing!
  3. Depending on how good your scanner and software is, could you alter the settings? There are some amazing pics on this thread, well done!!!
  4. Whilst they may not be great from a technical photographers point of view, I think they are very interesting. The second one (Kilnhurst) in particular just screams 'micro-layout'!!!
  5. Jack

    New OO gauge Class 73

Sadly it would appear he is unrepeatable ... there can be only one ...
  6. There is very little of the railway infrastructure left I'm afraid. At the top of Station raod there are two brick built gate posts remaining, plus the railway cottages. If you go over to the camp side of the valley there is a small cutting next to the RC church in St Patrick's road which was part of the railway. At the junction of Meerut Rd and the A338 there is part of the old embankment covered in undergrowth - this can also be seen at the leisure centre entrance.
  7. Just reading the write up for this in the current Railway Modeller and the article talks about a target figure of £1m to buy the land and construct the building ... that is an aweful lot of cash for a model show. Whilst I appreciate other railway projects have raised more (Tornado et al), has this kind of money ever been raised for a model railway project? I know Pendon started out from much more humble beginnings, and can't help wondering whether trying to get such a sizeable piece of land bought and built on maybe a bit too ambitious? I'm trying not to sound negative, as I will be very happy if this project does come off ... in fact, living just up the road I'll be pleased as punch (though not as pretty)!!
  8. The bridge in the first pic of the OP looks like it is going to need some work on the approach
  9. Er, yes. I didn't want to post a rant in the Tonbridge thread as it isn't just their show by any means, but having a 2 year old in tow I have noticed an increasing number of layouts with not-a-lot happening for long periods of time ... It was definitly the locos. Although I think he would have plucked up the courage to ask for 'Toby' if we'd had more time!! He was absolutely fascinated by the turntable as well.
  10. Yup, those Tonbridge lasses can get a bit wild Well done for entertaining our toddler for a good 20 minutes! He was thoroughly enthralled by your layout. It helped there always seemed to be something moving.
  11. There is an LMS brake van on the disused branch out of Radstock. I'm guessing it was once some form of barrier wagon ... There was a conflat parked in Faversham for decades until they re-did the subway a few years back.
  12. You're only sad if you feel the need to label your label maker I do like the look of this layout, it covers most of the essentials in life ... trains, O gauge and chocolate ... could we convince you to do a brewery extension?
  13. Its the Bank of England, what you witnessed is the most heavily armoured tea lady in the world
  14. Oh yeah, thanks. Still looks like an I without the magnifier though! Maybe its time to give up the smaller scales!
  15. I have just picked up my shunters trucks and they do look very nice. Out of interest, should the loco department one say "LOCO DEPI."? Note the department is abbrieviated with an "I" rather than a "T".
  16. This looks very interesting. It does need to be set in winter though ... ... more appropriate for the Andes
  17. Excellent pictures! I do like Teddy Boston's biography, a very interesting read. Sadly rectory gardens arn't what they used to be though ... I'd struggle to get an O gauge loop into ours, let alone a 2' one!!!
  18. I was just making a joke (note the icon)! I'm not in the market for a b/t and, after the 7mm wagons, won't be buying any items until they have been thoroughly reviewed by people whose opinion I trust ... which does include your goodself. However, sometimes its not what you say, but the vehemency with which you say it.
  19. Nearly!! The next project is to re-do some of the scenery on Gough's yard, including adding a few working yard lamps and a signal. I have plans for Gough's Yard, but I want to make sure I get a few techniques right first.
  20. Having seen Shelfe in action I've started ordering some bits and pieces for my own layout ... so its only fair I encourage you to spend out on the sound chip
  21. No, crazy is when you buy the sound chip for it! Good to see the layout in the flesh, some excellent modelling. It just goes to show what can be achieved without going over the top Thanks for the tips on hard standings btw.
  22. I notice the list doesn't include the release of the BR livered 'Loco dept' one.
