Humbrol does appear to have deteriorated since Hornby acquired the company. Havig used it since 1962, I notice the difference.

    3. Trebor

      Trebor

the very same happened to mine, sort of dried felt all rubbery, took ages to clean off and the tin, recycled to tinlet heaven

    4. Kelly

      Kelly

never much liked humbrol paints when i used them for aircraft, switched to revell, then after that Games Workshop acrylics (i used to do a lot of wargame figure painting)

Grumbling over. It looks like there's going to be a lot to do to put this right. Hope it all gets sorted ASAP.

  5. RIP my beloved Parkray back boiler. Withdrawn yesterday with a cracked and leaking boiler it has steamed for the last time. Now, whether to replace it like for like or find something completely different to replace it. Chuffin expensive whatever I choose especially as there's no mains gas nearby.

It's electric at the moment. One oil filled radiator is heating the entire bungalow...from knee level upwards...hope the engineer I rung is a boilermaker...and actually turns up to have a look.

  6. 56113 failed on Gresford Bank on 6M54. Poor driver has to tie it down, get a taxi from Gresford to Crewe, get a spare loco, drive it to Wrexham via Salop and go and rescue his own train. Not what you come to work for really! At least he knows where his detonator protection is.....

I had a 4.3 Chimera as a toy a few years back. had a few small electrical issues and flogged it on for an E39 540, which was just as quick!!! I never had any mechanical issues with it but the Rover/Buick engine was a belting unit if built right!!! Had to Google Royal Republic, Sorry John!!!!! ;)
