  1. has been (rightly or wrongly, not sure) dipping easi-build mk1 plastic coach windows in boiling water and bending them slightly so they now fit properly in the window holes..

  3. thinks that people who "tag" trains ought to be re-sprayed with their own paint and left to dry somewhere hot..

  4. thinks this will be the final year of building customers signals....at least until I retire from my fulltime employment...too much to do, too little time.

  6. Is (rather strangely) wishing MOK would produce 7mm scale signal kits to match their locos..

I'd love the bits from the kits though! Everything would be the right size and fit together.. Probably be a gazillion little bits to each item though!

What you need is a 7mm equivalent of Masokits.

      Wot if MMP did signals???

  7. is planning to go for a trundle along the Middlewich branch next week. Crewe-Chester blocked all week for engineering work and Virgin trains diverted along there..

  8. Just seen a loco I didn't think I'd ever see again. 56078 just passed Chester heading for Chirk

lol! probably been past loads of times then. fine train spotter I'd make!!

  9. Looks like my Canon D300 is going to be laid to rest..it's got damp or something nasty growing on the sensor. Too risky to clean without scratching the sensor and probably not worth the expense of having it done professionally. I've only taken 5000 pics with it too!

Working every Saturday and always moaning to my wife about how sunny Saturdays seem to be - it's very sunny here in Gloucester right now.

  13. Quick update rgarding 56113 and it's train, 6M54 yesterday. Declared failed at Gresford 2319, assisted clear of the single line 0635 the following morning. Can't understand it, surely there must have been a spare pannier tank or something on shed at Croes Newydd.....

i did end up doing 17 hours the other week when 66848 failed!!

  14. 56113 failed on Gresford Bank on 6M54. Poor driver has to tie it down, get a taxi from Gresford to Crewe, get a spare loco, drive it to Wrexham via Salop and go and rescue his own train. Not what you come to work for really! At least he knows where his detonator protection is.....

Agreed about his age. 52 is WAY too young to die. Also, regardless of his politics, he was a family man. Sincere condolences to his partner, family & friends

  19. Will later today (after a 12 hour shift) be attempting to remove a 3ft diameter loft header tank through an 18 inch wide loft inspection hatch. Now where's my saw?

    1. davefrk

      davefrk

We left our tank in as we are at the end of the pipeline from Glasgow and now and again someone cuts through the water main somewhere in Glasgow and we're without mains water for a day or two so it's good to have a reserve.

    2. Jon Fitness

      Jon Fitness

Ah, good thinking but mine has been isolated for 18 months and is empty and dry. It's also in the way if I need to change the smaller header for my soon installed replacement solid fuel boiler.

  20. "Essential engineering works" at home means no modelling for the past 4 days with more to come....no modelling....things to build....soldering iron cold.....got the shakes ....can't cope....AAAArgh!

I know, I know but after a shift at work I come home to do a bit of modelling and I have to walk past my bench while plastering/painting/fitting new radiators/fittng new curtain rails etc...my bench seems to whisper as I go past "leave that and sitdown here instead, you know you want to....:(
