  1. It's the gift that keeps on giving! Not only are there numerous threads on what blue the real things wore (including this one if you go back a bit), but now we are debating if an artificially adjusted one might be what the model will look like
  2. I've been away for a bit shooting a tennis tournament so havent been following recently but was planning to sell off some old camera lenses so a well timed offer from my perspective. Apart from when I've not read the small print and got caught, I never sell anything other than using the £1 offers but presumably attracting activity makes them money elsewhere, so is worthwhile for them.
  3. If the object here is to relax and enjoy the model behind a wall of smoke, surely just taking up pipe smoking is the easiest way?
  4. Thanks for that Dapol have started glueing them off centre on their 7mm locos and it's trickier than you'd think to drill/pop them out to re fix so good to know it was worth all the swearing!
  5. A slightly simpler variation on the swing bridge idea, particularly for those with a linear or smaller space, would be to have a lift out cassette on the scenic running line (which could well be disguised within a bridge) which you swap with another one containing the next assembled train. My only issue with the example above is that given you have a clear straight section for the swivel section beyond the end of a full run round loop, then by implication there was actually room for a traditional fiddle yard anyway. I'm keen to explore what can be done in as little as 13 or 14 feet where having it all scenic is very desirable.
  6. I got it as well so the little man sent at least 2 e mails yesterday!
  7. I'm sure this will have been covered before but was the inner dart fixed or was it just a regulation/tradition that it should point straight down? Ta!
  8. The standard of this layout is superb. The only thing that slightly catches my eye at the moment are those bright red warehouse doors!
  9. Based on a quick perusal of Google images, looks like a conflat L to me, which I dont think anyone does so with have to convert or scratch build.
  10. Very rare for me to get a prediction right but I believe shops have indeed reopened before these have been released!
  11. The OP specifically asked about running 2 coach trains and whilst I appreciate this is fairly rare for RMWeb, we're just answering the question!
  12. It is certainly possible to build a layout in 14 foot but it really is on the small side for 7mm so less is more is a good mantra. The danger is it will just look too busy. The beauty of 7mm is the size and space: even a single wagon has enough heft and detail to be interesting on it's own. Cramming in as many features as possible kind of defeats the object for me.
  13. I remember Zico - just not where liverpool came into it!
  14. Parkside are very simple to anyone used to building plastic kits although taking time to file down the fairly robust brake equipment pays dividends in the final result.

    Dapol 08

Heljan tend to do one window open and it means everyone's loco looks the same. At least with Dapols approach you can choose which one to modify, if you want, and have some variety.
  16. Not always. May vary by manufacturer but with the Dapol Mk1 coaches for example, they decided to retool but in the meantime tested liveries on the original. Having said that I'll be amazed if this changes.
  17. Isn't collusion illegal?
  18. So are they only doing the GWR design? I thought B numbers indicated a BR build but that just looks like the GWR one in BR livery unless I'm mistaken? Not that livery samples necessarily mean anything as they are purely to test colours.
  19. I got my first amp in the early 80s. Dad couldn't afford a transistor one so I had to make do with a little Wem valve amp (Clubman i think) which he got for 10 quid in a tat shop in Southampton. I've still got it and its worth a bit more now
  20. I think that's what's known as self-policing!
  21. Hi, To put my comments in perspective I cant come close to your standards but for me the angle you are looking at that loco is only 2 or 3 stories up. You wouldnt see anything except the upper parts of buildings immediately behind that wall, or if somewhere like Bath, the top of very high ground in the distance but you'd then be looking slightly up at any visible buildings that far away To look down on buildings in the far distance like that, you would have to be on a substantial hill yourself in which case youd be looking down much more on the loco I think.
  22. Just thought i'd remind everyone the simple premise behind what is rapidly approaching Tinsley!
