Give some people some exhibition space and this is what they do...

I would just like to make it perfectly clear at this early stage, that I will not be doing any dancing!

I was under the impression that it was a model railway exhibition layout Black Country Blues.....

  2. Well, I have to say a huge thank you to Damian, it was a truly incredible day.

I can honestly say that during the journey home I kept thinking to myself and saying to Will…”What has just happened?”….”Have we really just collected BCB?”….”Can you believe what we have in the back of the van?”…two weeks on and I am still trying to come to terms with what has happened.

What a layout we now have to allow us to play trains!

I am still trying to work out why my Boxenby fleet seems to struggle on BCB! 😁

To say that I am excited does not even come close!

I may have missed it but I can’t see anything on the PHA/JGA hopper wagon.  Is there any news on this model at all?

    Thanks.

Good morning KAR 120C, the factory are currently preparing the first decorated samples of the PHA/JGA for review. We hope to have these next month.

We will of course provide updates as soon as we have more information.

This weekend we are pleased to be attending the 2022 London Festival of Railway Modelling at Alexandra Palace.

If you are attending the show please visit our stand, number 76, and say hello. We have 3D prints of the forthcoming new decks for our BBA project which will include the BWA conversions with six cradles fitted, two examples can be seen in this excellent photo of 37048 passing Melton Ross on the 10th of September 1991.

Has there been an update as to when these might arrive?

Good evening Bishdurham, the models are in production and we will advise when we have further progress to report.

If you are attending Model Rail Scotland this weekend please visit our stand.

My understanding is that there will be decorated examples to view at the model exhibition in Scotland

Krieghoff, that is correct we will have production HAA models and pre-production examples of the first and last wagons.

  6. We’re really looking forward to attending the Glasgow Show this weekend - if you’re attending come and visit us at stand A13 to see our latest samples and project news! We have a number of production samples flown in especially for the show, including Total TEA samples.

I havnt read the whole thread, but are the models locked in so to speak?

The reason i ask, the BR blue one 56 008, would it not make more sence to produce 56 010 as 56 010 seems to have lasted in BR blue in to 94 where as 56 008 seems to be withdrawn in 1992. Just gives it a slightly longer period for moderlers to fit one on their layout.

Thank you e30ftw for your post.

Regarding 56008, from our research this loco received radio aerials in 1988 and as you mentioned, was withdrawn in 1992. Whilst 56010 continued in service, gaining TransRail livery, this particular loco had the Doncaster style cab larger headlight fitted at both ends which may not necessarily appeal to all modellers. If people choose not to model 56008, it can be renumbered to other examples, whereas 56010 would mean changing the headlight.

Whilst our design and tooling allow for us to produce 56010 with the larger headlight, we wanted to offer a BR Blue Romanian example in as built condition in the first run. As I am sure you can appreciate, with 134 examples to choose from (56042 requires different bogies), it was a difficult task choosing which locomotives, cab style, era, and liveries, to release first.

To answer your question, yes, the locomotives are effectively locked in with the chosen examples selected for the first production run.

What we have tried to achieve with the first run is to produce models that cater for majority of eras and offer the most common liveries. It would have been very easy for us to offer lots of locomotives in different liveries across the fleet, but we are conscious of the economic climate and also that this is our first locomotive so people will be apprehensive. However, if you have seen our wagons so far, the 3D renders and the 3D print, you can see what can be expected from the production models.

Hopefully our Class 56 will prove popular and then we can offer more examples in the future.

An idea we are considering is to put up a poll to help us understand what eras people model and what particular liveries modellers would like us to produce.

It wouldn't take up as much room if it was N, perhaps 2mm would have been a better idea 12 years ago!!

Thanks Will, yes The Hill was a great place to visit.

I meant to post this a few weeks back… some members of DEMU’s London Area Group were privileged to visit Boxenby in person last year. Massive thank you to Alex for hosting us. The layout is even more impressive in the flesh… photos just don’t do it justice. Look how excited we look…

Thanks, Guy, for visiting, it was great to show you, Tom and Mike Boxenby.

Hopefully the next time you visit you might see some locos moving around the layout....

One day it will make an appearance at Showcase!

Happy New year to you   and i am sorry to hear of your loss.

How long is that taking to lay all them out as i thought it would  take an age but you seem to be getting on a quite a rate?

    Happy New Year Class60lover.

    Thank you.

I see that Will has answered!

Slow progress but hopefully 2022 will see the first real running of trains at Boxenby!

  12. Happy New Year!

Today I have mostly been threading chairs on to rail….

Another important job that we have done today is to cut out and remove the area of the baseboard to allow the washer plant road concrete pad to be lowered into position. This now sits at the correct height. It needs a bit of a tidy up, but the main work has been completed.

This is a job well done.

A few more lengths of rail have also been laid.

  13. Thanks, Class60lover and Craig for posting on my thread.

Sorry for the lack of updates, due to a family bereavement in June, progress on my project has all but ground to a halt.

The end of November saw me find a few hours to thread some chairs on to rails which had the effect of getting me back to the project albeit slowly and on a small scale.

    IMG_6956.jpg.cbc58311798055d84674e5e044a57422.jpg

Since then I have threaded quite a few chairs on to rails…..and, earlier today a few more sections of rail were laid, thanks Will!

I am hoping that 2022 will see more progress and the first proper running of locomotives at Boxenby. Fingers crossed!
Hopefully next summer I can organise a ballasting party!

Happy New Year to all RMweb members, Andy Y and the team at RMweb.

I have just realised, it was 12 years ago today!

How time flies...I really must get this project finished.....
