  1. After a day exhibiting at Thirsk show then foolishly rushing off to play football afterwards a classic from the Theakstons fold- XB 4.5% heaven in a bottle from the Masham brewery!
  2. Very good show at Thirsk today, warm atmosphere and well looked after whilst helping operating Wainthrop Bridge.
  3. A north east classic tonight- so hard it's bottled in a clear glass!
  4. Thanks for the feedback, it's not easy to get any decent pictures of cable runs in the 80's and as I started on BR in the late 80's my memory isn't great. I remember a combination of several practices for cables, the orange pipes were used and were soon taken out as they created great problems when damaged cables were hidden- Also tampers could pierce the pipe if hit in the middle. There were cables clipped down as we have done above and also cables that were strewn across the ballast especially after failures when they would be thrown in to get things up and running. I think we maybe need to do a few of the above to stop it being too neat as mentioned. Again the machine on reflection may need tweaking but I hold responsibility as I have been feeding Dave info and he's been working off the odd photo. Edit- the point machine has been tweaked into the correct position. Again thanks for the feedback! -Andy
  5. Thought I would start this topic as a spin off to our layout thread for Charwelton http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/121262-charwelton-80s-spotting-days/ Work has started to add point machines, troughing routes, location cabinets and cabling to the layout to bring it into the 80's. As Charwelton unfortunately never made it into the 80's on the railway front it's a 'what if' scenario and we have had to do what we think might have been (not an easy task!). Location cabinets (first fit). Battery cabinet with cables Point machine and ground signal with cables. -thanks to DaveC for photos and not least his excellent work!
  6. The next few boards are now being worked on and here are a few pictures of the latest work carried out by Dave The point machine cables have been installed from the machine to the troughing route and cable to the ground signal also represented.
  7. Hope these might help for installation. Sorry no specific dimensions for the location cabinets-
  8. http://www.planetrock.com/news/rock-news/video-premiere-deever-unleash-debut-single-fire-at-will/ Hot off the press is debutant group Deever from Darlington and the Bass guitarist is my sons guitar tutor! Wil Taylor is previously of Inglorious -another group worth a look at!
  9. Well something a little more refreshing for tonight after a game of cricket- Theakstons Pale Ale 4.5%
  10. Damn! I knew I should have drank it in the ice bath after the game! (More chance of knitting fog than me having an ice bath- even in summer)
  11. Snap -and a wonderful beer that's also gluten free! A friend that recently stated he hadn't tasted a good gluten free beer has been directed to this brewery as they do a good gluten free selection.
  12. From the excellent Theakstons brewery Masham- Old Peculier 5.6% just the ticket after a game of 5-a-side in tropical temperatures.
  13. I think Yorkshire Gold is from the Leeds Brewery not Black Sheep but either way I agree it's a good beer!

  20. We do have an idea to run the Newcastle - Poole service on our route as we have found out that it was timetabled this way before the closure of the line. Also we had better get collecting MGR stock!!!
  21. We will post the 2019 shows when we have confirmation of invites as we don't want to post any duff gen. Seems a long while off yet but I'm sure when we get a plan of works sorted over the weekend we might be glad we have a bit of time to play with!
  22. Well only two days to go until we attempt to erect the whole layout for the first time over the weekend! It will be a measure of where we are and what we need to do before its first outing. Hopefully lots of updates and photos to come from this weekend so watch this space.
  23. Stopping in the caravan this week and a bonus is the Great Yorkshire brewery and pub is just 2 miles down the road in Cropton. Popped in for a quick pint before our tea - A dark chocolate and Vanilla Porter, surprisingly refreshing on a hot Yorkshire afternoon!
