  1. My comment was based on the fact that it is highly likely none of the existing sleepers will be restored, most of those at Carnforth are shells and beyond restoration. I do think there is the opportunity for an "overnight experience" which could be pitched as a premium experience though: - Join train at 6pm, complete round trip of the line - Fine Dinning experience in Buffet car commencing at 7.30 ish - Round trip at 21:30 - Overnight stay on static train
  2. I don't think so, it looks to be the opposite side near the old Avon Street yard
  3. Just caught my first 9 car IET, 17.00 departure from Paddington to Bristol, I thought this is usually 2 x 5 cars so has the diagram changed or is it due to availability? 4. Looking at the state of the MK1 sleepers in preservation we might need to use a MK1 TSO to create a replica as the surviving sleepers are very rotten and have asbestos in them...
  5. Mixed news for me to be honest, in my experience Bachmann and SLW chassis are much better runners than Heljan so hope this announcement doesn't cause Bachmann to bin their plans or disuade SLW from doing a 25/3 in the future.
  6. Lovely layout, you should have fun with it. The track plan is identical to the low level of my last layout (Peafore Yard) and it was a lovely plan to shunt
  7. It looks good from the front but agree with Hiding the back third under a bridge.
  8. The first low floor spectra in service was due to be preserved but sadly caught fire in service a couple of years ago. Quite a coup at the time for ABus to get R1AJP in service first..
  9. Very impressive Richard, looks a big build.
  10. Looks a massive project, good luck to whoever takes it on. Are the mechanical all there or at least in store as all the pictures I have seen indicate there is no engine in place?
  11. Will follow this with interest as I used to live in Somerset and drove past the Radstock area a lot. Nice Series Land Rover in the back of the last picture by the way, V jealous of your garage space.
  12. Looks a really nice layout, I always liked Cogirep which I thought got the balance spot on between enough detail for the space wothout being over crowded.
  13. Nice little layout! I can emphasise with the problems with the 08 hitting the Platform, I had the same issue on a layout, suffice to say that an 08 is now on of the test loco for all of my layout. Good luck with the next show
  14. Realistic Lorry trailers from the 1970s and 80s are near non existent, the ones that are available are either too short or too old. I have just had to scratchbuild a 40ft skeletal trailer which bearing in mind how common they are surprised me..
  15. The Langley Seddon Atkinson 401 model is on of the best 4mm kits of 1970s/80s trucks, the chassis is a different league to the RTI kits. It is a shame that you can only get the 4 wheel chassis with a day rather than sleeper cab
  16. I think you are spot on Bernard, my first Land lady recalled she bought a Mini clubman brand new in 1975 and it only lasted 6 years before the bottom had rusted out. My Mum's MGB is on it's original engine albeit after 1 rebuild but on it's 3rd set of sills and second floor. I have lost count on the number of front wings it has had.
  17. This might be of interest: https://www.flickr.com/photos/73536293@N02/42701187292/in/photostream/
  18. Although the tube lines continue on, Greenford is an elevated terminus for the Branch from Ealing
  19. As aluded to by Claire Williams today who said he is performing well....
  20. Agree it is hard to tell from the CAD but I was immediately struck by the bottom of the windscreen looking too flat...
  21. Looks a nice event. The Dave Lynn ERF is one of the lorries in the photo I posted in post #1 of this thread when in service, he has done a good job keeping it in nice condition.
  22. 05.56 from Chippenham today is 5 car again, if they are short of units then there must be some consideration given tobl reverting a diagram back to HST so peak services can run as 10 cars. This train will be rammed from Didcot..
  23. They have been doing the same on some of the peak time ones as well, last Tuesday the 6.25 ex Chipp was 1 x 5 car with predictable overcrowding from Didcot...
