  1. It will be free because of it's age! Again it should be MOT exempt due to the age, maybe the modifications have an effect on the exemption?
  2. You might be dissappointed, I have it on good authority that there will be: 37093 - Police no light 37093 - Police with Blue flashing light (DCC Ready) 37093 - Police with Blue flashing light (DCC Fitted) 37093 - Police with Blue flashing light (DCC Sound) 37093 - Police "Paint won't wash off" special edition - Includes 3 x figures - 1 x Man with brush, 1 x Man with hose + 1 x Stratford Depot manager on the phone to paint supplier.
  3. There are other pictures on Flickr from the side that show it is not quite as bent as it appears in this photo. That said bent is bent so either way a big job, 37198 and 31203 were repaired at Burton, 37198 was no less bent than this one so it can be done.
  4. I recall reading that the traction motors were damaged at Swanage after local flooding in the station area so that is to add to the list of jobs. Anything is possible but realistically in the grand scheme of class 25 preservation, the best thing is for it to be used for spares...
  5. Aah ok. Technically the last part of my post is still correct!
  6. The 27 ft versions would be non ISO standard though so for example the twistlocks would be in the wrong place and as I recall later batches of FFA/FGA couldn't carry the non ISO versions.
  7. Will be interested to see how Kannotburn has turned out in the end, will be nice to see it finished,
  8. Nice job, I thought it was a great article I Classic Land rover mag as well
  9. Nice, the IIB forward control was a much better job that the IIA but I still wouldn't fancy doing a clutch change on either with the cab in situ.
  10. Hi Dave, Nice job and thanks for sharing, I am amazed how many little differences there are between a IIA and a III. Good luck with finishing it off. My Tyres are Deestones, I would have loved some Avon Traction Mileage but not at £200 per tyre! The Deestones were £60 each from memory.
  11. Thanks Dave my deadline was October 2017, I think October 2019 is more realistic.
  12. I have been locked in the garage all afternoon, 2 years after removing the engine and gearbox from the Land Rover, I finally got it back in:
  13. I told Phil Sutton when I placed the order for my class24 that if he did a class 37 I would by 10 of them...
  14. Hi Dave, Nice to see you have registered on here now, looking forward to operating Lydgate at Calne for potentially the last time...
  15. The image of the class 40 is wrong as well, D248 was a disc loco, whereas image is of D335
  16. There is the small caveat that we have not yet seen the new 24/1.... The Bachmann drivetrain used in the existing 24/25 is excellent but the rest needs complete replacement and needs to be better than the SlW offering for me to go back to Bachmann for future class 24 and class 25 purchases.
  17. What a great idea, looks fun. We had our works Christmas lunch in the Warrington Arms, I never appreciated the history behind it.
  18. I think my 1977 Land Rover chassis was rustproofed with black coloured water...
  19. I have a front operated layout precisely to allow me to better interact with the public. I make a point of saying hello to people who come to see the layout, which often results in either an interesting discussion with the viewer pr in rare cases the viewer smiles and legs it!!!
  20. A more recent one on the way out unfortunately is the Gas Cupboard in Trowbridge, shop is now shut but Dave is still online and doing shows. Shame, especially as they won Bachmann retailer of the year in 2016

    Hornby lowmac

Another interesting use for Lowmacs was to carry waste from Malago Vale carriage sidings in Bristol to the other side of Temple Meads due to lack of road access at Malago Vale. I built a replica using the Airfix Lowmac: and the real thing: http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/brlowmac243-253
  22. I am 6'3" and find there is plenty of legroom, better than an HST.
  23. We have them in Bath as well, there were a load of them doing some garden maintenance in front of the royal crescent a few weeks ago. A good idea, I was surprised they were allowed to wear branded hi viz jackets, only a matter of time before someone kicks off about it..
  24. Like Gordon A, I am in to Series Land Rovers. I have owned my 1977 Series 3 since 2003 and wouldn't be separated: 2003 when I was marshalling at an MG trial. It looks tidy but chassis was rotten and replaced with a new Galv one in 2005: Fast forward to 2015 and another rebuild required: Just a quick tidy up has become a last nut and bolt rebuild: Coming back together: Engine nearly finished (today) Plan is to have it finished next year....
  25. Very envious of your space! I liked Oxford Road when I saw it at Cheltenham so will follow with interest..
