Don't know if you have fuses in your plugs over there but if you have then I would check the fuse first.
If you have a digital multi meter you can measure the output of the power supply.
Don't have a power cab myself but I presume the center core is + positive & the outer silver connector is - negative.
If you don't have a meter then try a 12 volt car light bulb.
If no output is measured on multi meter put your ear to the power supply to see if you had hear any sort of sound from it.
If it hums then that is normal but if it ticks it will probably need to be replaced.
If the power supply is ok then look at the power supply connector on the back of the power panel. Take it out & put it back in several times to make sure it is making a proper connection.
You were doing so well up to that point.
Then you had to go & spoil it all be telling us it actually runs as well
It seems to be a beautiful model but then what the hell would I know.
I think we need to concentrate on the mistakes in the Oxford model & not the compromises of modelling in OO gauge.
People need to remember that in the making of an OO Gauge model compromise is necessary, mistakes are not.
Thanks Edwardian for that very comprehensive explanation.
I look forward to the general model being released to see exactly whats turns up.
With all the information available from people on here & elsewhere surely there is no reason why a reasonably accurate model can't be produced of some variant of the class?
Then again it may be produced just as a toy train engine & not a scale model at all ?
The NRM model should be a totally different animal all together.
There should be no excuses at all there ?
I have been following this thread with great interest but I am now totally confused ?
Is the Oxford model a match for the loco at any time during its existence or is it simply a Heinz 57 ?
I'm no expert & I'm not after perfection but the highlighted portion above says it all for me. I suspect a large majority of us would be happy with that
Nothing would give me greater pleasure but unfortunately its not possible to visit Olivia's for some of us so we have to depend on opinions & advise from others.
This is where a forum like this is so valuable to some of us
On the subject of the motor Olivia's tell me that the new motors were supplied by Heljan & that they haven't had any problems with them so far.
I know this is a bit off topic but still related to the Garratt but has anyone heard what Olivia's sound chip for the Garratt is like ?
