  1. I understood that they were longer which would cause problems with the curved platforms at Temple Meads. Ed
  2. Dom, I take it that the citizens of Leipzig are much more intelligent than ours? They seem to manage to keep off the tram lines without yellow lines all over the place. Ed
  3. Just a thought, but if you get in touch with the builder of Halifax King Cross, Steve Hall, he may be able to help with info, plans etc for the "real" Halifax railways. I don't know how to contact him but he is easily found by google. Ed

Where were the green ones shedded? Ed
  5. Aren't the new ones going to be built here too? Ed
  6. If the bl66dy things are on a boat, then why the h3ll didn't they send a couple of proper production models by air mail, in packaging, so they could show them on their web site? Ed
  7. They deserve to after pi55ing us about for so long! (allright, not really) Ed
  8. Morning all. Unfortunately a large number of people seem to enjoy killing animals in the name of "sport". What the dentist was doing was legal (he had bought a permit) and contributing to the local economy. Do lions count as pests? What went wrong in this case was the luring of this particular lion out of the park, and the locals have been charged for this. I suspect that some cash may have changed hands. I don't think that the dentist has killed many animals with his bow and arrow, just wounded them.Someone has had to kill the unfortunate beasts with a gun. Maybe the fun is following the trail of blood? I have to say that I don't "get" this at all, but I eat meat and wear leather shoes so can't really object to the killing of animals, can I? I suspect that what I really object to is that most of those who enjoy this sport seem to be better off than me, and flaunt their wealth. Not many people (yet) have expressed their objection to the working class chaps sitting quietly with their fishing rods. I dunno. Maybe it's a throw back to when we had to go and hunt animals for food, and to kill sabre-tooth tigers to protect our women and children. Certainly it seems that men are programmed to kill, frequently other men-hence polygamy in so many societies to look after the widows and orphans. Anyway, just some of my thoughts. I'd be interested to know what others think. Ed
  9. Let's hope there's no sparkies before the gas man cometh. Ed
  10. The point is that, whether or not you think a FSH is a good thing, the OP was told that the car came with one. In the end it did, so problem solved. Ed
  11. Extreme;y well done. I especially like the backscene, how did you make it? Ed
  12. S'allright, you put it better than me. Ed
  13. Tony, glad you got your result.I know you don't miss what you've never had, but now I've got aircon I wouldn't get another car without. Ed
  14. Have you looked at the bottom of the "reply to this topic" box for "view auto saved content (day, time)? Ed
  15. Thinking about it, reversals are needed to get on or off the Severn Valley. Ed
  16. AFAIAC having a dealer FSH and matching, good name tyres tells me a very great deal about a car. It is quite possible that a DIYer could have serviced it better than the dealer, but I have no way of knowing. The FSH tells me that the owner took the trouble to look after it. I would rather buy such a car privately than pay dealer prices and get a meaningless "warranty". Ed
  17. Don't like Poldark or Downton (no car chases). I thought the Shetland thing was refreshingly different, but hadn't read the books-always fatal because the actors are never what you envisage the characters to be and the plot is always altered for the film. As for Vera, I'm afraid that I just can't take Brenda Blethyn's (a superb actress) character as a senior police officer. That's probably sexist because I think of some of the male roles over the years... Ed
  18. I have bought a season ticket for mine. It's a bit cheaper if I only go once a week, any over that and I'm "better off", but it's still dear. Most of the blue badge crips like me park on the yellow lines in the street. Wish I could walk that far. Ed
  19. I didn't realise the trains were running from Exeter to Okehampton again. Is it Sundays only? Who is running it and what stock are they using? Ed
  20. Specials to Sheringham would be complicated by the reversal at Cromer. Ed Wiki (yeah yeah) says not more than twelve times a year including stock moves.
  21. The Severn Valley is used for testing purposes, it has a higher speed limit for this use. Ed
  22. Phil, which eye did you look at her with? Dave, I too have found 111 to be utterly useless. Mike, are those little skates up to the weight of loco's? I've only ever seen them under rolling stock. Ed
  23. Question for the cyclists. When "clipped" do you pull hup with the back leg as well as push down with the front? Ed
  24. My son lasted four days. He had just passed a long queue of traffic and came to the lights. He said that the fall was a thing of beauty. Ed
  25. Dom, do you clear up the litter before you take your shots? Ed
