  1. My SR version arrived today. I am most impressed with the level of detail, especially the inclusion of the crosshead vacuum pump mounted on the LH side; something that wasn't present on Hornby's N15/King Arthurs. Looking at the photo of 30830 in this thread, is it me or does the cabside number appears to be sloping? Glenn
  2. I haven't, but I can see where you're going with this one ... 30837, an interesting possibility. For myself, I am awaiting the SR version, but as I dislike Hornby's pale yellow numerals, mine will be renumbered as 830. Glenn
  3. Those big Maunsell tenders look far happier with the late BR crest, don't they? I haven't had time to run my one in yet, let alone think about what I'm going to do with it. Glenn
  4. Now look here you GW chappies, when we said you must convert from the Broad Gauge to the Standard (narrow) Gauge, we meant the same gauge as the other major railways! Summer's gone ... hibernation time. Glenn - daan sarf
  5. Thanks for the review Rob, mine turned up this morning. The SR version is about perfect, the dark green is about right to my eyes and the correct gilt lettering is used. The BR green version has overhead warning signs at each end; I'm not too sure about those, but no doubt some would have gained them. Glenn from darn saaf
  6. Ah, P10 it is then. I don't know this thread goes all over the place: P10, P2, Pickett? (dont you have to wait 'til the midnight hour for that one?), Peckett W4, is that a quarter of a W1? ... I'll stick with the Spams, I just love being Bulleid. Me, respraying GWR types - must be getting old. Drink!
  7. I want to respray my Hornby Star into GWR Shirtbutton livery and I am undecided on whether to use Phoenix Precision or Railmatch enamel paint, any advice from the GWR fraternity on which paint is correct for the period? (Blimey, a serious modelling question - my apologies in advance) Glenn
  8. That's a Spam alright and it even states that it's a 'lite (pacific)'. Taw Valley is clearly a rebuild, bigger and cheesier than the originals. Here's a proper 'Spam Can' No.34015 Exmouth, yet another renamed Wilton ... ... back to the LMS and GWR models. Glenn
  9. Lining with transfers takes forever, I want my life back!

I don't know, it's sort of black with LMS on the tender

  10. "No, no, take it away, that's not one of them Spam engines":- slight paraphrasing there. Mr Bulleid was not amused by the sound of the BR de-Spammed versions.
  11. I know Bulleid's aren't to everyone's taste, but thank you Coach for liking the erratically wonderful Spam Can original rather than the BR Standardised/sanitised version. Glenn - hopelessly biased of Portsmouth
  12. I'm never lining a rivetted tender again!

  13. I'm never lining a rivetted tender again!

  14. I too have fallen for the charms of the Bachmann Standard Class 3 Tank. I renumbered one and listed it for sale for a while, but once I realised it was the only one I had left, I removed it from my website and have retained 82024 as one of my own ... going soft in my old age. Glenn
  15. Just had a look myself at 'The Engine Shed': Nice looking carriages and there are plenty of them to model, unlike the Bulleid MN; a class of 2 with that body shape ... and there is also a green tram: niche, or do I mean nice?, no, definitely niche! ... I just wanted a West Country with the original cab. Glenn, currently in GW-land with 6417 and 5551, whatever they are?!
  16. Could well be, but the rest of it is bad English at best, totally illiterate at worst. I'm not sure I can be bothered to reply either way.
