My detailing/repainting projects
D9JEF replied to blueeighties's topic in Modifying & Detailing RTR stock
Hi Lee, swift response... No lights then? The reason I ask is that I gave one in GMPTE livery and I want to put lights in and wondered whose stuff you would use. It will be unpowered and pushed/pulled by a Sprinter. Any thoughts gratefully received Cheers Jeff -

Hi Lee, What are you doing with the Pacers? Any chance we can have a look.... Impressive list Jeff -
Crikey! Has it really been so long since I last posted.. Manor Rd still progressing and I will try and get some pictures up later. Jeff

Good luck with the show guys, Once it is set up and running you will forget what all the worry was about. I'm still shocked how quickly you have achieved this and at the standard it has reached! Please take plenty of pics at the show. Jeff

Hi Sam, The best compliment I can give is that the Hornby 97 looks toy-like next to your RHTT wagons. Jeff -
And what a way to go!! Brilliant Andy Jeff

Happy new year Sam! What kind of airbrush did you go for? -
Just spent the last hour reading through this thread and a few videos. Great layout and lots of great ideas. I am particularly impressed with your scrap loads. I went the Ten Commandments route for mine but I think I will add a couple like you have for variety. Thanks for sharing Jeff

Evening all, Had a slight issue with technology so videos didn't work :scratchhead: Need to get my children to help next time.... In the meatime here are a few photos: 60 001 Steadfast having completed a circuit of the whole layout stands in front of the transfer shed (which has been removed...) The breakdown train is still being finished - Crane and match truck both need painting! Factory is now nicely bedded in - still need to repaint the roof to get rid of the red and weather it down Cobbled approach down to new unit Finaly a few shots of 47211 and 26 004. Both have been heavily weathered and stand in the freight sidings More to follow Jeff

Hi all, Work has been progressing nicely with Manor Road and Class 60 001 Steadfast took the honour of being first to run over the ballasted layout. All works fine. I have also finished the road down to the factory unit. I will video some trains later and post them up. Jeff

Or Warley, SVMRC or Stafford spring to mind... Jeff

Ian, Good luck with it. Look forward to seeing the layout a bit further up the UK. It looks very good so far Jeff

I read the article and was surprised that the layout isn't bigger than it is. The sense of space is excellent. One question - what did you use to make the lead work on the chimneys? Not sure if you have covered previously but 113 pages is a lot to search through... Thanks Jeff

Ron, How many 1:76 tons of steel / plasticard do you think you will consume by the end of this fabulous project? Thanks for keeping the updates and inspiration coming at such a regular basis. Jeff -
Hi both, Have you considered de-motoring the 142 and adding lights to one end. Once done permanently couple to either a Bachmann 150 or a Realtrack 144. I have a GMPTE 142 that I am in the process of doing and will couple to a Merseyrail 150. Just a suggestion. Jeff

Great video. Where did you get the yellow transit van from? Thanks Jeff

Evening all, As promised a few photos of progress on Manor Road. They show a range of views of the houses I have built and a steel coil train at the transfer shed. I have started to paint the road but not finished it yet. The road is kiln dried sand glued down with PVA. This will then be painted and an additional coating of scenic cement added. Hope you like it so far Jeff

Hi all, Lots more work has been done including finishing the roads, new pavements and reroofing the Metcalfe terraced houses to make them a bit more realistic. I have used York model making roof tiles and I would recommend them to anyone as they are exceptionally easy to use and produce a great effect. I have also completed the back street and waste ground behind the houses. Next on the list is the cobbled road surface down to the factory building. I will post some pictures later today to show progress. Jeff

Hi Ian, All looking really good. Have you considered using magnets and automatic uncoupling (a bit like Oulton TMD). There is a video of it on my Buxstone thread. Any news on when and where the first exhibition will be? I personally will be coming along to see it in action - and say hello. Keep up the good work. Jeff

How do I upload videos?? Not sure if this will work: Class 76 on mixed freight http://youtu.be/R9OfOQqQ1wg The noisiest layout at the GCR show - nearly as loud as D9016 on one engine! http://youtu.be/2CJFGQLkum8 Imagine this from 10am till 5pm for 3 days.... Cheers Jeff

Hi Bob, I will try to film it tomorrow. Jeff

Hi, We were positioned next to you on Oulton TMD and I was very impressed with Netherwood. Awesome models and the double-headed MGR is worth seeing. Have you finally got the noise of the roundy roundy tinplates out of your ears yet... Cheers Jeff
