  1. Evening all, I have spent quite a bit of time on Manor Rd but not really had much of a chance to update on here. As an update: Electrics are all complete - Track is live - All points wired up to the panel - Everything fully tested and working Currently working on the scenery Looking from left to right: Board 1 - Main station and freight loops Board 2 - Tunnel to fiddleyard and distribution depot. Above is a row of terraced houses (Manor Road) with a plastics factory Board 3 - Fiddleyard (under grass embankment) and distribution depot Currently I have mainly completed Board 3 and 80% of Manor Road. I am now working on the walling behind the station on Board 1. This is constructed of Slaters plasticard. Once cut amd put in place I have painted in the following way. Sprayed with GWR Freight Grey then brush painted the mortar in cream. Before it dries I have wiped the excess off with a piece of kitchen towel. This has the effect of leaving the mortar the right colour and also toning down the grey for the stonework. Tonight I have been in the kitchen cutting wood strip to finish the tops of the walls. These have been glued and I will paint when they have dried later this week. I particularly like the one where my youngest son was playing with my 1:76 cars and decided to 'park' them in front of the shed. Next jobs: - paint wall cap stones - complete walls on board 2 - add station lights A few pics - don't know how you add them mid-post any more! Thanks for looking Jeff
  2. Love the colouring you have achieved on the walls. Having spent many hours painting over 20 feet of 1:76 walls I have a good appreciation of how long that has taken. Excellent work Jeff
  3. Thanks! Much more has been done but piccies have not been taken. I wil try to update over the next week. Cheers Jeff
  4. Hi Ian, I see Tidworth got a mention in the latest Model Rail - see page 56. Looking forward to seeing the Sherman's lined up on your layout! Jeff
  5. Hi Ian, Not sure how I missed your new thread. All looks really good with lots of interesting operating potential. I have gone down the route of a traditional analogue set up for my point motors on Manor Rd. I am curious about how 'easy' the digital route is. Do you just key a macro for a particular route? Keep the pictures coming Jeff
  6. Hi Sam, Didn't take too long to finish the "chores".... Progress is looking good. Keep the pictures coming Jeff
  7. Love this picture. I used to watch the parcels trains just the other side of the footbridge when I was 18, back in 1989-91. Great memories, thanks for sharing. Have you any more pictures? Jeff
  8. That is such a poor excuse! You could have gone for... ... Lost my mojo ... Work a bit busy ... SWMBO is laying down the law ... Alcohol has taken over my life ... Football is getting in the way Your excuse is far too honest!! Jeff
  9. Dave, What have you used for the capping stones on the wall behind the station - last picture on post #239? Looks really good and I need a similar solution for my walls. Many thanks Jeff
  10. Hi Alex, I appear to have poked a hornets nest! I plan to exhibit Manor Road and I help to operate Oulton TMD so I get out and about on the circuit quite regularly. Exhibition layouts are all different and appeal to a wide audience. I think you should exhibit this as it is a fantastic piece of modelling that is very different to anything else I have seen. Closest layouts in terms of scope would be Aberdeen Kirkhill - for me. And that layout is superb, not just the modelling but the operation and realism. Your efforts are inspirational for lots of RMWebbers who follow and drop in. The only challenge I see is working out an interesting and varied set of 'moves' to keep the "general public" interested. I am sure that any number of us would be happy to come along with appropriate stock to fill the layout. Just realised this is a huge response but I want to see this on the circuit. Keep up the good work Jeff
  11. Hi Alex, Love your OCD, sorry - attention to detail on this layout. The roof is looking superb. A couple of questions for you: - do you plan to exhibit this? - how heavy will it be? I hope you will exhibit but I think one or two people will have to bring additional stock along to fill the layout, especially if you model some of the outside storage sidings.... Thanks for sharing Jeff
  12. Evening all, I have finished the scenics above the transfer shed and completed painting and weathering the retaining walls. The hillside covers the 5 track fiddle yard which is hidden underneath. I also completed the concrete pad and added the ballasting fo the yard area. This is N gauge ballast and I have glued down with dilute PVA in the usual fashion. I need to add the grass and weeds around the bufferstops and also need to complete the scubland area that is the area between the ballast and the front of the layout. Final things to complete this area will be: - Ground signals - Bed in the shed to hide the join - Lights A few pictures to show the progress: Thanks for looking Jeff
  13. Can we add an Awesome button please ... Excellent modelling as ever Ron
  14. Isn't technology brilliant! Looking good though, I am particularly looking forward to seeing your model of the building over the river as the prototype looks superb. Jeff

  16. Hi Ron, Thought about hitting like or craftsmanship but I don't think they do justice. Fabulous work - thanks for sharing Jeff PS. Glad your health is improving
  17. Evening all, Finally managed to sort out the IT problems and I have been able to upload a few photos to show progress on Board 3. This board has the distribution depot with a stone wall behind and a grassed hill above. The hill hides the storage sidings and is made from plywood formers covered in Modroc and a Noch Grassmat that was a xmas present from my wife. I belive she bought it as a joke but I aam very happy with it. I have added numerous layers of flock, bushes and I will add static grass as well. The Disttribution depot stands on concrete which was constructed from Polyfilla and finished with Green Scene textured concrete paint. I still need to add gutters and drainpipes to the building to finish it. I have also finished building the houses and Chippy that straddle West Street and Nicola Street. Built from Metcalfe kits and they sit above the fiddle yard entrance and also the tunnel throgh to the distribution depot. Only the chimneys to complete. Finally I have bought a Sentinel Shunter that has had the NCB decals removed and I have added a James Nameplate and I will add the running number - 12 - and weathering. I hope ypu enjoy the updates Jeff James the Shunter West Street Chippy Views of the distribution Depot And finally, the exit from the depot
  18. Hi all, Work has continued but I have had problems trying to upload photos as my wife's laptop had a few problems. So for I have added a 6 inch wide extension on the distribution depot board and moved one of the tracks, I have also completed the hillside above the retaining wall that hides the fiddle yard. It is progressing well and as soon ad the camera/laptop thing is working I will post some pictures, Jeff
  19. Grimley, Are you sure you don't have OCD? If not it is a cracking impression... All looking good. Jeff
  20. Hi all, All wiring is now complete and tested. Thankfully all is working well. I have spent some time building the houses that straddle the tunnel entrance to the fiddle yard. The corner house is a chip shop. All these have been built from Metcalfe kits and I am really pleased with them. My plan is to complete these and build this area as a detachable board that fits over the baseboard join. I also took delivery of a Sentinel shunted which will be named James and I need to decide what number it should be. I will take some pictures and post later. Jeff
  21. Hi Rob, Excellent work. Now following your thread. Roughly how long does it take you to paint a 4mm figure and what (size) brushes do you use? Thanks Jeff
  22. Hi Richard, Thanks for posting the video. It looks superb at slow speed and I think that has made my mind up to buy one. Cheers Jeff
  23. Bless! Denise looks superb - has it been chipped? I want one but want to know how they run on DCC Jeff
