  1. One of my recent orders from Steve has been a set of custom transfers for an early BR black class 08. In this instance 13058 of Wellingborough 15A shed. The last of three allocated there in consecutive numerical sequence. I will write a blog entry shortly with a bit of a background story as to why I modelled this loco. The number sets have been applied on a coat of Halfords satin varnish. Then fixed with Johnson's Kleer. Once dry, a further a couple of light coats of satin varnish. The 15A shedcode plate is 3D printed. Treated like a normal waterside transfer it is released from the backing paper. Then placed on a clean ceramic tile, once dry it is fixed with enamel satin varnish As usual an excellent product from Railtec giving top class results. Well recommended. Cheers, Mark
  2. As opposed to the sadly missed renowned Pilgrim and Tractor Boy, Paul Mariner. Bringing things around nicely to Ipswich Town and all things Janner... Meanwhile, back in the South Hams.... Cheers, Mark
  3. I remember you telling me of your Rushden Town glory days Phil. Great stuff. Diamonds had a really good club house/small stand at the time. Town had a stand as well as far as I can remember. Perhaps you were lucky to escape the Doc Marten's years. Sadly it all ended in tears and Nene Park has since been felled. Out of the ashes, I believe Rushden & Diamonds still exist. Perhaps in what was known as the United Counties League. Cheers, Mark
  4. I remember as a young lad going down to Nene Park, Irthlingborough one evening to watch Bobby Robson (Later Sir) turn on the new pitch flood lights at the then Irthlingborough Diamonds. Ipswich Town managed by Robson, put out a team playing against a Diamonds celebrity team including Wayne Larkins IMMSMC. Somewhere, I have Bobby Robson's and Brian Talbot's autograph. The latter would go on to manage Rushden & Diamonds under the ownership of Max Griggs of Doc Martin's fame. Congratulations to the Tractor Boys. Well deserved ... Cheers, Mark
  5. The ambassador's parties are known for their exceptionaly good taste... 'Wiz zis water feature you are spoiling us...'

  8. More surplus items for sale. This time two Dapol SR 6 wheel milk tanks. Both have been numbered with HMRS transfers. Weathering by airbrush and dry brushing. The tie bars have been replaced with Eileen's 0.5 mm 'L' shape brass. Buffers and coupling hooks have been replaced with Lanarkshire Model Supplies castings. Now running on Dapol wheel sets. £17 for the brace including postage via Royal Mail 2nd Class Signed For. Payment by PayPal please. Cheers, Mark

The unfitted version has the same modifications and does have the coupling mounting blocks in situ. Airbrush finished and weathered. Cambridge Custom Transfers to finish. Lydney allocated for those with Forest of Dean leanings. Sealed with matt varnish Both have temporary wheelsets. Dapol I believe? £15.50 for both including 2nd Class Signed For postage Payment by PayPal please. Cheers, Mark
  10. I wonder whether the Bloaters come with a fishy smell effect to tickle your olfactory senses? Then again...
  11. Brilliant news from EFE Rail. Can't beat a Bloater! Out of interest would the chassis on this Bloater cover other GWR wagon diagrams such as the Fruit D?
  12. Here's the link: https://rainbowrailways.co.uk/2024/04/22/wessex-class-150/ Rich is right. I believe if there is sufficient interest then they will produce another batch. This one is finished as 150 233 'The Lady Margaret of Looe Valley'. Always a favourite. I have Wessex Trains poster for the Looe Valley Line which I purchased off a small stall at Looe Station run by the Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership many years ago. It has a Class 150 in this livery at Terras Crossing. A lovely spot. It's now framed and pride of place in the bathroom. Cheers, Mark
  13. KMRC Southern Railway Gate Stock for sale as either spares or repairs. It was to be part of a Southern Railway layout I had planned. However, I changed period to BR/SR and is now surplus to requirements and sold as an uncompleted project. I have since acquired the BR/SR version of Set 373 which had plated over sides fitted in later years. It comes in the wrong box. Airbrush finished in acrylic Malachite the HMRS Methfix transfers reacted with the paintwork leaving a bloom in some areas. This needs rectifying. Perhaps waterside transfers would be the better option. Sadly, windows for the side driving compartment and brake van are missing on one side. Buffers have been replaced with Roxey turned brass versions. I intended to modify the protruding steps so removed the. Like part of the glazing some of these have gone missing whilst in storage. What remains are included. The carriage is intact and finished the same. I did modify the end seating to both carriages to make gangways as these were not represented in the interior seat mouldings. Remains of the footsteps and an unopened detailing pack enclosed. Sold as spares or repair. £30 including postage by Royal Mail Second Class Signed For. Payment by PayPal please. Cheers, Mark
  14. Having a bit of a clearout of surplus items. Two brand new Bachmann/Model Rail USA Tank bodyshells. One in Southern Bullied Sunshine livery and the other in early BR/SR Bullied Sunshine livery. Both in as new condition. No accessory packs included, which can be sourced from the Bachmann Spares Department. £25 for the brace including postage via Royal Mail 2nd Class Signed For. Payment by PayPal please. Cheers, Mark
  15. Evening Tony, I would agree re: BR green 4MT 4-6-0's being more WR based. Not sure if you would have seen them at Chester? I'm a bit biased, but to me the 4MT 4-6-0's always look smartest in lined black. That's coming from someone with WR persuasions. I would certainly agree re: BR Standard grime. After a few months in service the gloss would certainly start to diminish. It will certainly be interesting to see what Geoff can do with your Standard Class 4MT. Cheers, Mark
  16. Hi Tony, What a lovely job you have made on the old Mainline Standard Class 4MT 4-6-0. Your photographs capture the graceful lines of these locomotives. In someways with the work you have put into the chassis build, it would be lovely to see the loco receive a fresh coat of paint. Doing a bit of research Nottingham 16A did acquire 75044/75055 from Bedford 15D in 1960. A bit out of period for Little Bytham perhaps, but with some modellers licence perfectly feasible. Cheers, Mark
  17. That's a cracking link Neil. Lovely atmospheric shots. Cheers, Mark
  18. Here you are Robin.. I'm in the process of detailing this Siphon G. The bogies have steps, guard irons and sanding pipes which I have removed here. This combination of bogies with a Siphon G is not a common pairing as Mike above has identified. However, as a quick fix for both the Airfix Siphon G/H models it may fit the bill. Cheers, Mark
  19. Hi Pete, I bit the bullet with the Kernow bogies. I did fit Shapeways 3D printed versions to this Airfix Siphon G, but they rode too high with 14mm wheels. The Kernow bogies are in a different league altogether being made from cast metal, highly detailed and running on fine 14mm profile wheels. This is with the two vertical prongs cut flush and fitted with the Airfix mounting pin. So far, so good. Just need to source suitable nuts, bolts and washers for a permanent fix. Don't think you will be disappointed. Cheers, Mark
  20. For those interested in a kit built Siphon H. Not mine. Thought it looked well built and finished and may be of interest. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/355649404098?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=jsssom8wq4s&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=MNMqJGNPSxi&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Does anyone know of the origins of the kit producer? Cheers, Mark
  21. Are the biscuits from the Meredrith & Drew factory in the Forest?
  22. It's all gone a bit Waggon und Maschinenbau at 46444 Towers... Brilliant model, excellent running and great service from Rails as ever. A welcome return from Heljan... Cheers, Mark
