  1. Nice work Peter. Could have a touch of Whimsey about this in the Dean Forest with Berry Wiggins bitumen tanks and the odd Pannier shunting tank wagons about. Look forwards to the next installment. Cheers, Mark
  2. I think I'll be coming to the Northampton Show as well! Be good to see it in the flesh!
  3. Hi Stu, Only just caught up with this layout and all I can say is it's one of the best layouts I've seen for a longtime on here that appeals to me. It's very simple but you've managed to achieve a great deal in this small space and it doesn't look overcrowded. The trackwork, scenery, buildings and rolling stock all work in synergy, in doing so you've captured the setting just right. Look forwards to further posts and future layouts to this standard! Most impressed! Cheers, Mark
  4. Excellent work Pete and worth the perserverence. B) Instantly captures the prototype and there's no doubting what it's based on. Weathering will certainly bring out the detail too. Once you've finished this I guess it will be the trees next-just a few! Now we need a shot of a FL 66 shunting some PCA's. Looking forwards to the next instalment. Cheers, Mark
  5. Great work Alex, I like the effect you've achieved with the weathering. Captures the prototype really well and yes, I think you've been restrained compared to the prototype photos. I've had the same happen to me too re: Games Worshop acrylics going off to quickly and now tend to use Valejo ones. As an aside-I was recently told that Valejo now make GW paints. Cheers, Mark
  6. Forgot to add-John at Precision could probably do all of your 37 numbers for you thus avoiding applying individual numbers. I've used them for a project and the're really well produced.
  7. Hi Pete, Good to see the first post of 2011 and it's looking good!B) I really like the depth of field you've achieved with the photographs-'The Master' has taught you well!. The 37 looks fantastic and you might be tempted to think it was the 4mm version if you were none the wiser. John at Precision Decals does the decals for 37207. Here we are: http://www.precisionlabels.com/d96.html http://www.precisionlabels.com/d95.html Very tempting to have a go at one of these myself! The sight of a FGW Class 153 Class 121 will look brilliant when Dapol release it. As for the tree's as weve said before-I think you're going to need a full on arboretum! Looking forwards t the shots of the driers when there ready too. Nice one. Mark
  8. Hi Faye, Nice job and certainly looks a bit different to a Ixion Manor now! Good to see a photo too. I think all of this should blend in nicely and you'll have a very good model of a Grange. What livery are you going to finish her in by the way? Look forwards to the next installment. B) Cheers, Mark
  9. Hi Jo, Coming along nicely. Glad you've managed to capture all that fine detail. Mark
  10. I'll be watching this post with interest as well and would like to see some photos to show the progression of the kit and getting the donor chassis to fit.! Look forwards to the next posting. Cheers, Mark
  11. Hi Alex, Have now had time to have a proper look at your new 'Peak'. I'll have to dig out my old 'Power of the Peaks' book as well now. Having been brought up with Class 45's on the Midland Mainline I'm a bit of a fan of these locos. Only ever saw one Class 44 in service though, and that was 44008 'Penyghent' at Peterborough in the early 80's. Nice design and I actually prefer the 44 over the 45/46. As for your model I think it captures the look just right, especially around the nose area and the front bufferbeam. I like the finish too. Green suited these locos better than blue and the weathering really enhances the finished loco. Now the big question is: Did they make it to St.Ives? Looking forwards to the next update. Cheers, Mark
  12. I like the sound of this layout. It gives huge scope for running all manner of stock and locos. Be nice to see some photos and progress on the goods yard and engine shed. Mark
  13. Spot the mistake! Your not Kris!!! Apologies Mark
  14. Nice work Kris B) . The trees and the scenery look good and that video adds a touch of class to the post! Seriously though. I love the last shot you took of the Prairie as it captures the feeling of open space nicely. Looks like a cracking layout and one to look out for in the future. Cheers, Mark
  15. Hi Alex, Really nice work there on your 31. The valance area looks good. Look forward to seeing her in her ochre paint and will make a change from the usual green or black of the 1960's. Cheers, Mark
  16. Nice work Pete.B) Sounds as if a few Christmas bashes have got your eye in on the cladding. It looks really neat, and as you say with a bit of scribing and weathering I think you're on the right track (Concrete inset of course ). You sound a lot more positive with it all as well which is always a good sign. Cheers, Mark
  17. Hi Jo, I really love the FGW 'Local Lines' livery on the Class 150's/153's and will be interested in seeing this project progress. I shoulds think those decals will be a real b*gger to get right but will look the business if you succeed. As an aside, I believe Antics have commissioned Dapol to do a 153 in 'Local Lines' livery if you weren't aware! Look forwards to more updates soon. Cheers, Mark
  18. Excellent piece of modelling Missy. The primer shows off the quality of the build as well, with a smooth finish and all the detail for the eye to see. Hmmmm! First Great Western 'Local Lines' livery I personally think! Looking forwards to the next post. Cheers, Mark
  19. Nice work Pete.B) As for the prototype photo-not a bad shot! As for Barca beating Real-Hmmm! think Jose has some explaining to do! Keep the posts coming. Might be worth experimenting with some paints to see the effects you can creat. Cheers, Mark
  20. Morning Pete, Looking really good. I'm a bit like Jon that when I looked at the first attempt I thought it looked ok, but being the perfectionist that you are the second version is a clear improvement. Also as you say once it's primed and the weathering starts everything should start blending in nicely.B) The FL 66 looks good in the shot too. As you say just need those PCA's now. I like the sound of your last post having spoken to JV. I think adding the junction and part of the incline from Coombe Jct will certainly add to the layout's operation, but also enhance the viewers perspective well. Now you can have units running into Coombe from Liskeard and then setting off down the branch to Looe. That might mean another trip to Ikea for another shelf for a fiddle yard though. Keep the posts coming. Cheers, Mark PS. You realise at this rate you're at risk of modelling the rest of the Looe Valley line with SKWWH the next (board) stop!!!!
  21. Morning Pete, So the 'Lucky Cat' continues to enhance your mojo and progress is steaming ahead! The buildings are coming together nicely-there's no mistaking the the location and once the cladding is on it will certainly start to bring things together. I like the idea of the card formers to creat the contours of the landscape-nice idea. How about a photo of your FL 66 shunting some PCA's?B) Nice work-keep the posts coming. Cheers, Mark
  22. Hi Pete, Just got in from work and found this! Your mojo is certainly back! Must be the lucky cat!!!!!!!!! As I've said before your 3D structure modelling is superb and the forms you've created of the dries are instantly recognisable. I love the way the track curves too and it already captures the atmosphere of the dries. I'm already there with a FL 66 and some PCAs being shunted! As for Sharon loitering on a sharp corner I never met her at Moorswater! Just a beast of a County tractor with some big appendages for dealing with PCAs!!!!! Keep up the mojo and look forwards to the next installment. Cheers, Mark
  23. Cracking job Missy. Impressive stuff!B) Mark
  24. Really nice work Alex. Excellent finish and the weathering looks just right on a work stained East Anglian Type 3. Cheers, Mark
