  1. An item of myth and legend, I am now the owner of a Hurst LWB pantograpgh kit! Ok I need another two but at least im a 1/3 of the way there. Having only ever heard of them and having talked to Andrew Hurst about them, the other nights quick perusal of his site showed one as being in stock. The other parts being the door opening lights with a 325 they are located in the place of a door open warning, but as I understand they contain a blue shade, they are part of a system to see if anyone is in the coach.
  2. Also hopefully within the consignment will be some of the door opening lights retro fitred to mark two and mark three stock. The "lights" come moulded in translucent orange, I need them to be blue! I have some opaque blue acrylic from a aeromodelling project so will try if this gives the effect I require, touch the sides with a shiny metallic colour and it could provide the detail that is just so fine and defining.
  3. Just been doing some shopping for another sort of Royal Mail Train...and very happily came across Hurst's 91/325 LWB panotgrapgh as being in stock..so would be rude not to flex my flexible friend. I could be awash in Post trains! Just had an update email the parcel is despatched and on its way! Efficient or what! Two hours later
  4. Not that I have attempted it, but have considered maybe using a good quality "invisible" tape. If laid evenly and given a rub once primed it should give a bond that should last as long as the plasticard? Ian
  5. Surely another 400 or sowouldn't be too much bother? Imagine the satisfaction, Swann Morton will or should give one hell of a discount to you! I like the toothpaste tip too with superglue issue. Ian
  6. Ok so not railway but the M62 does in deed end-start at junction three. Junction one was to be near to St. James church Parliment street. One issue with the church is that the grave yard is supposedly over capacity, as they had a vicar who was a bit keen to get his grave yard used for a few quid. Now back to the railways
  7. 98301? Bit of a gauge issue with that one...have you tried a back to back? 37 looks smart I started 37/0 ages ago...DRS Darlington loco. Ian
  8. Hi Jonathan, Can you create pdf files? Another even possibly less costly option for you to consider over cd's I would like one of the bag of bits that come with the instructions at some point in the future, looks a really great job. Ian
  9. Hi Colin, I would look to visit the Liverpool Record Office, I am sure they would have Echo's and Daily post on microfilm. Shouldn't take long to search, you have approximate dates dont you? Ian

  17. There is one image during London Road 60's rebuilding, but its hardly full of information. From a Foxline book which covers electrification of Manchester & Style. I have got rail centres too and just had a look in that and cant see anything in there either! Sorry

Have a look in the 90 thread :)

  19. I'm hoping they (Bachmann's 2f) are loads better. Build quality never hit me as great. Ian
  20. Thats shaping up a treat. Very impressed.
  21. Class 50 were fitted on refurbishment, with some having the fitting cut but plated over ( supply issue?) Class 56 had a integral headlight fitted from new, again this was amended during the build. I remember seeing a few 86's and 47's fitted pre mid 80's First boxed headlight I recall seeing was a bulled up 47 590 Thomas Telford on a working into Liverpool Lime Street going past Allerton. Trainspotting and watching South Liverpool FC a combination now long gone. Winter 84? 1985, 1986 was more going to see Everton no railway viewable from Goodison. http://www.railblue.com/pages/Class%2047/47590.CW.030885.html has the light fitted http://www.class47.co.uk/c47_numbers.php?s_loco=47590 whilst not showing the loco would fit with my recollection of seeing a recently named 47, shiny with a nameplate and headlight was unusual! Named October 1983.
  22. Royal Ordance Factory Nottingham, managed by Cammel Laird. Bought outright by Laird's who suprise suprise went bust, with the factory going to Metro Cammel by 1935. I'd bet the Liverpool Record Office may have something on these? I beleive its only just reopened too? Ian
  23. Mazak...yer stink.....

    MRA wagons

Jonathan, What wheels came fitted with the MRA's? How big were they over the tyres and tread? I would have thought a wheel with a finer tyre profile if the originals were 12mm would pose less of a problem! Wonder if the original wheels would foul the underside? Ian
