  1. Aft'noon all, What began as a modelling day with the weekly shopping tagged on once it went dark changed completely as soon as the modelling started. Since having the drain removed Is has been in fear of a seroma (fluid build up under the skin). Her operation area has felt progressively tighter over the last few days so she rang the breast clinic at the hospital....the reply came this morning asking her to attend at midday. She has now had 650ml of the fluid drawn off and feels considerably more comfortable. Lunch was at a decent pub/eaterie on the way home. Shopping now to be done as and when. All the best to any with flood water in their house. Seasonal greetings Dave
  2. Aft'noon all, Good to have some sunlight strong enough to reach the back of the eyeball. A steady last night shift meant being able to get the ironing out of the way in the first hour this morning before making the most of the conditions on a Morridge, Elkstone, Warslow circuit (Sturmey Archer 3 speed hubs are borderline suitable for this).... A quick lunch and a request from Is for a run out into the scenery in the car. Enjoy what you do Dave
  3. Mornin' all, You've seen enough dismal pics of The Moorlands so I've included the latest image from our friends in The Rockies, Featherville. Night shifts done now and a few days off to enjoy. Is is doing well but looks to be starting with a seroma (fluid build up) which will have to be drawn off. Looking forward to our traditional New Years eve party. Best wishes to anyone with flood water in their house Feathered ones provided for Enjoy what you do Dave
  4. ....a response to Andy Y describing this thread as the least troublesome and seeing him in action on other threads warning offenders that the New Year is likely to start without them on RMWeb. Dave
  5. ....not even a Christmas takeaway? Hope that you're able to be with family next year Dave
  6. ....give me your address BoD....and some stamps. Dave
  7. ....thanks for the offer but the couple who gave us the tapes have the player to copy them onto CDs, so I'll be giving them a couple of blank discs and the tapes back. Cheers Dave
  8. ....and all the best to you & the team from the ERs Andy....shouldn't it be a red tin hat with a white bobble, rather than a Santa hat? Dave
  9. Festive felicitations to all.... Oddest gift opened this morning has to be a third hand pair of Alan Bennett cassette tapes....the recordings may be good but it is around 10yrs since we had a cassette player. Have a great day Dave
  10. ....we're doing our bit to alleviate the rush by trying to ensure that any journeys in the last week before Christmas are in the opposite direction to the shops/town centres. Dave
  11. ...and if you're camping then I hope that the p##s doesn't end up on your tant. Dave
  12. Mornin' all, Whilst waiting for enough constitutional daylight the wet stuff has started to hammer on the conservatory roof...oh well. Should be a day with mum & dad today....probably lunch out & a drive in the scenery later. Is went to bed sore from yesterdays 30min car journey so I'll need to work locally with her for a day or two. Seasonal greetings esp. to those who ail Dave
  13. Evenin' all, Unlikely to get a flake in the UK on the 25th but this image arrived from Featherville friends 5000ft up in The Rockies in the last day or two.... ....the lodge has a balcony on each side and we were the first to stay there with them in similar conditions in 2010. The roof gullies have electric heating elements within them and twice a day they automatically come on to melt ice/snow. Despite RSJ & cement tile construction some Winter falls are significant enough to collapse the structure. The snow is 88 inches deep there just now. Dave
  14. .....I'm with you Neil...we passed two cars on the 30min drive back home from the Hall....quite unnecessary, the shops were open yesterday after all. Dave
  15. Aft'noon all, Feet up & Drambuie time following a smashing outing to Biggin Hall for our anniversary lunch.... ...the former LNWR (sorry) route from Buxton to Ashbourne, now the Tissington trail, runs past the back of the hall.... All the best Dave
  16. Mornin' all, Black on yellow with seasonal temps around average start in The Moorlands. Another head down calorie burn to keep shifting the festive calories. Our 10th anniversary meal is at lunchtime today. Now music by Sniff & the tears....Driver seat Feathered ones provided for Seasonal greetings esp. to those who ail Dave
  17. Evenin' all, Our meeting with Is's consultant this afternoon underlined the accuracy of cancer treatment nowadays. From day one she was told that treatment would consist of 6 doses of medium strength chemo followed by a mastectomy (no deviation there), a course of radiotherapy and a likely pin & plate procedure. Of course we had hoped that the chemo would have removed all traces of cancer, however, this isn't the case and radiotherapy will follow as planned to hopefully zap cancerous cells in the glands/chest tissue not removed during the op. By her own admission Is now looks & feels as well as she did pre diagnosis and intends to exercise her way back to similar fitness levels. However, she repeatedly wonders why more affected/cancerous glands weren't removed.....I view it that the surgeons will have removed what was necessary/realistic and those defective glands remaining will be dealt with by the radiotherapy....no guarantees but we have to put our faith in the experts. Aligning our expectations with what was predicted and what is likely appears to be at the root of this. Seasonal greetings Dave
  18. Mornin' all, All the best to any who ail No Winter solstice constitutional yesterday due to a busy day at Barrowmore club advancing 24 ex ironstone hoppers towards completion and a place in the roster. These will be either empty or sheeted (loaded) sulphur hoppers on the Mostyn dock/Amlwch circuit. We did however manage a smashing shortest day meal at a local carvery with 11 of Is's family in the evening. Straight into a head down calorie burn on this dark, dull and damp Moorland morning attempting to offset the seasonal intake increase. Weekly shop and the ironing to do this morning, then off to the cancer centre with Is to see the consultant later. Now music by Laura Brannigan...Self Control Feathered ones provided for Enjoy what you do Seasonal greetings Dave
  19. ....you should feed the mother-in-law occasionally Mick. Dave
  20. Aft'noon all, Another milestone today with a 1.5 mile walk above Elkstone. 10 miles was our norm pre this health issue and we're looking to get back to this as progress allows. Feathered ones provided for Enjoy what you do Dave
  21. Mornin' Jock, Is is over the infection now and returning to circulation as the chemo effects lessen. Her operation site is delicate so we avoid any gatherings of people in number to help avoid her getting knocked. Re-building muscle tone and getting more normality back into her life are my current objectives. Dave
  22. Hi RAR, We have a preference for those dispensed by one of the indoor market sellers...along with his fruit pikelets. Amazing really just how many tastes & textures/thicknesses there are in plain oatcakes. Seasonal greetings Dave
  23. Mornin' all, Is has been helping the other ladies prepare our church for Christmas this morning. This was taken half an hour ago.... Seasonal greetings to you all Dave
  24. ...sorry to hear of your feline issues Mal. Dave
