  1. Mornin' all, All good wishes to those who ail. Dark, damp & dismal once more for the head down calorie burn around the short clockwise. A few night shifts to cover over the festive period from Christmas day so we've started early with this being a week off. I'm already burning Lindt chocolate and Drambuie calories on the constitutionals. I walked into town with Is yesterday...just there and straight back but a milestone nonetheless. I'm taking her to church this morning to watch it being decorated for Christmas. Now music....our favourite carols by various artists Feathered ones provided for Enjoy what you do Dave
  2. ....I got a letter from them today saying that my 1.2TDI will need a software re-programme in mid 2016. Dave
  3. Mornin' all, Good to be out on the constitutionals again....even if dark, damp & dismal in The Moorlands just lately. Is had the mastectomy last Wednesday and was discharged the next day. Unfortunately, she picked up a D&V bug in the process and whilst her current medication dealt with the vomiting side a considerable amount of cleaning up has been needed to make sure that she didn't go back in. Inevitably I caught the infection and have spent the days since Saturday doing the housework and cleaning myself up. Dry wretching on dry toast and water isn't high in the fun stakes. Nurses have been coming in each day to attend to the drain which she was fitted with....this was removed yesterday but we now have to monitor her operation site for any signs of swelling...indicating that the fluid is still gathering, in which case it will need to be drawn off. Family funeral today and work tonight We had a table booked at a nice restaurant for our wedding anniversary on Christmas eve but had to change it to the day before when the latest hospital appointment with the consultant came through....for a summary of the tissue removed in the mastectomy. The consultant appointment has since been changed twice and is no longer on our anniversary....unfortunately, neither is our meal out. All the best to any with ailments Now music....Carols by Libera and Craig Ogden Feathered ones provided for Enjoy what you do Dave
  4. Mornin' all, Has anyone found a positive comment from John on this thread yet? Dave
  5. ...maybe it is time to compare the SLW model standards with some of the good European mainland ones and have a look at some of the prices charged over there. Dave
  6. ....not seen any yet but we're bound to get pics posted here. Dave
  7. ....I suspect that he won't be turning down any sales, even if it means hiring an extra pair of hands for a day or two. Dave
  8. ...ring Phil on 01780 470086 This is the web address for the new model http://sulzertype2.co.uk/page.php?p=home Dave
  9. ....maybe they had signs in the loos of the caravans asking for flushes not to be done in stations. Dave
  10. ....you are free to post anything you like John. My only interest is in the best model of a type 2. Dave
  11. Re post 518 ....your actual quote was "not visible on the prototype" when there are numerous images showing that they are. Why not just say that they are visible under certain lighting conditions? Dave
  12. Aft'noon all, These juxtaposed examples will help demonstrate the advance in body profile with the SLW model compared e.g. with the most recent contender by Bachmann The correct roof curving/beading over the cab front windows and roof profile on the SLW model contrasts with the too shallow curvature on the other model....throwing out the proportions of the bodyside, or the height of the bodyside on the Bachmann threw out the curvature/proportions of the roof/cab front The correct cab front window shapes & sizes on the SLW are considerably smaller than on the other model The unsightly joint on the cab front between body and chassis is absent on the SLW variant.... The angle of the cab front upper is correct on the SLW example but not on the other.... Battery box/underslung tank area and bodyside grilles...there is no mistaking the fidelity of the SLW model.... Disregard the amateurish start to repainting on the lower bogie, it does however offer a comparison between the two versions, The overthick tyre rims of the Ultrascale wheelsets stand out too on the lower image.... Dave Satisfied type 2 owner
  13. ....me thinks that you need to look at more prototype 24 radiator grills. Given the number of detail variations within even the hundred plus headcode disc fitted 24s it isn't easy to find any two identical locos.....the more you look at prototype images the more detail variations you'll find. The single most significant feature of this loco for me is the correct body profile inc. 'the face' with its correct size window apertures, roof curves & angled slope of front end because for those minded to model a specific set of individual details and create a very individual loco it is the best point to start from. Dave
  14. ....I'll be having the glazing changed in my green'un but the overall presence of the rest of the loco is so good that I just spend the time savouring it. Dave
  15. Mornin' all, Keeping the house bright with flower colour just now....alstromeria Somewhat dark constitutional for the last hour....clearing sky with single figure temps, about average for the time of year. Head down calorie burn around the short anticlockwise to make up for a few missed. Is is comfortable but has a drain in at the mo, which makes getting around and sleeping problematic Now music by Craig Ogden.....carols on strings Feathered ones provided for...lesser redpolls munching on sunflower hearts Enjoy what you do Dave
  16. Evenin' all, The op went well, I've just returned from visiting Is in hospital. She is likely to be released tomorrow. Obviously a much bigger risk in her mind....whilst fetching her book from by her bed at home to take tonight I saw the three envelopes which she'd left in case it didn't go according to plan. I've left them untouched for her return. In my mind I didn't see this step as a big issue and I'm thankful to be looking about to be proved right. All the best to any with ailments Enjoy what you do Dave
  17. ....good luck with the order Brian...they are lovely models. Dave
  18. ....everyone will have their own view but having been fortunate enough to own one from the day of the launch, I find that it is more accurate to feel grateful that it is possible to get this standard at this price. Dave
  19. ...given the standard of this model and the amount of exposure on the forums already, I'd have thought that many previous customers would be straight on the phone to SLW anyway....not waiting to see whether they were contacted. Phil has done the hard work and gone right out on a limb to deliver it at this level....the least that his customers can do is support him....even if it is only moral. Dave
  20. Mornin' Ernie, Ring Phil on 01780 470086 and tell him which colour scheme you would like. Dave
  21. Evenin' all, Best regards to all with ailments....hope everything OK with the scan Jock. Is has her operation tomorrow and wished for fish & chips at Longnor tonight. She was able to sit in the cafe area of the chippy once again and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Not a great distance from home but driving sleet and gritting wagons circulating the numerous high level routes add to the merriment. Is's niece will collect her in the morning and take her to the ward on which she is Sister. Alison should be able to take her down to theatre too. I'm at work on days and will await Alison's call as to whether she will be able to have visitors tomorrow evening. Enjoy what you do Dave
  22. Aft'noon all, Anyone recognise the brim full reservoir compared with the highly green low water reservoir fields version. Probably the fastest fill of this large body of water that I've witnessed..... Church DCC tonight Enjoy what you do Dave
  23. Hi Dave, The loco can be set e.g. for heavy goods services to keep the sound of full power for long periods of low speed or changed to quicker acceleration with short full power sounds for light passenger workings. Dave
