1. Rail Exclusives....they have a website http://www.sulzertyp...)

Antar Dave
2. ....so called experts who want their views taken seriously need to objectively review all of the correct dimensions and features incorporated in these models before they start whining about the negligable. This is easily the best RTR type 2 ever produced and may yet turn out to be the most accurate RTR model so far The locos fitted with Athermos axleboxes even have those beautifully modelled....you can even read the lettering on cab bulkhead notices if you're small enough to get in the cab. Dave
3. ....spent most of the day operating Mostyn Clive...or else instructing visitors on its operation....I'm probably biased but can't think of how to better an interactive launch day experience for potential customers. Dave
4. Evenin' all, Just returned from a great day with Phil and the Barrowmore boys....couldn't resist a D5000 in green with the light bodyside band. Superb bar raising model....thoroughly enjoyed playing with the sound and inertia features on Mostyn....if you want accurate Sulzer type 2s 'off the peg' then you'd better start looking for Phil's phone number and email address. http://www.sulzertype2.com/ Excellent day Dave
5. re post 108252 ....and you're just about to see another one Ian....the more manufacturers the merrier if we get better and better offerings, however, lengthy wishlists of products which may or may not happen do no-one any favours and many of them may still end up as 'vapourware'. Dave
6. ....they may not be mentioned on the diet sheet Mal but I've a feeling that they may sneak in under 'additives'. Dave
7. Mornin' all, A range of issues to be solved all at once yesterday on the last fund raising coach trip of 2015. Arriving at the coach yard at 07.15 to find our usual 53 seat Volvo/Van Hool with a dashboard full of red lights....due to water ingress during the cloudbursts of the day before....was just the first. Four cancellations due to illness/injury did mean that the 49 seat Volvo/Jonckheere replacement didn't leave anyone by the roadside. The next issue related to there being no planned Victorian market (with permit entry at £85 for coaches) when I booked the coach this time last year for Worcester....but one had been put on the calendar since and no permits were available on the day. Thus, next years Christmas shopping destination of Stratford on Avon was instantly substituted to avoid the traffic/congestion & permit problems of Worcester. 2 passengers were originally meeting family there so these had to be contacted and redirected to Webbs of Wychbold or Stratford. The weather came next with heavy rain forecast for the afternoon, thus the outdoor Stratford bit was done first and we were heading for the undercover Webbs of Wychbold part of the day when the rain got serious. All in all a good day out with everyone dry & comfortable but it didn't happen by accident. The 2 bottles of real ale were very welcome once sitting by the fire at 8.30 last night. Off to Tarporley for a day with Mostyn today. Enjoy what you do Dave
8. ....there is a mix of trackwork techniques Jock...certainly the pointwork is handbuilt....and there is a lot on Mostyn, whereas much of the straight track esp. in the fiddle yards is P4 flexible. Dave
9. Mornin Jock, ....approx 40ft x 30ft.....enough to park two Volvo estates in the middle. Rgds Dave
10. Evenin' all, A full days activity ranging from transporting and erecting Mostyn at Tarporley.... ....always the first job with a hire van...repair the holes to keep water off the layout, ironically with Duck tape. Gav is a bit like an eclipse...better not to look directly at him. The entire layout requires a seven & a half ton lorry but short hops like this are done by two or three trips with a Luton bodied transit ... ....to providing the film show & commentary for the first Milton church mens group meeting tonight....Sanibel island wildlife, Florida being the subject. Coach outing to Worcester tomorrow then back to Tarporley on Sunday.....oh and work on Monday Time for a few minutes feet up Enjoy what you do Dave
11. Mornin' all, Best regards to all with ailments A repeat of the half light overcast monotone type daybreak in The Moorlands....head down calorie burn around the short anticlockwise just for the exercise. Back to the Barrowmore club room today to start moving Mostyn to Tarporley. All manner of testing/cleaning to be carried out....you'd be surprised how much dirt comes off just the loco wheels. I'll take the camera to give you an idea of the scale of the logistics involved with this layout. Here are some previous exhibition images http://www.barrowmoremrg.co.uk/mostyn_gallery.html Feathered ones provided for Enjoy what you do Dave
12. Evenin' all, A busy day at the Barrowmore Model Railway Group club room today preparing Mostyn for an outing to Tarporley community centre this weekend. Much touching up of rail sides/wing rails/crossing timbers/chair tops etc....all the usual wear & tear expected on an exhibition layout. If any of you fancy an opportunity to operate this superb exhibition layout on Sunday then just PM me...I'll ensure that you're on the guest list....no casual entrance. Dave
13. ....lovely model of 'Flying Dutchman' John....captures the prototype very well. Dave
14. Mornin' all, All the best to any with ailments. The Moorlands can be summed up with one image at daybreak today.... ....Short anticlockwise just a head down calorie burn. A little more modelling on the cards later Now music by Baccara....Yes Sir, I can boogie Feathered ones provided for Enjoy what you do Dave
15. ...just the two sightings of the reed bunting in our Moorland garden Phil...one during a cloudburst when it was probably forced down. I filmed it but took a while to identify it...so bedraggled but confirmed by our county experts. The second was mobbed by around 6 blue tits who saw off the intruder from their patch...no I wasn't lucky enough to have the camcorder to hand. Dave
16. Evenin' all, A few clips from our garden inc. a Fieldfare, Blackcap, Lesser Redpoll, Brambling, Blackbird and Goldfinch Dave
17. ...the earliest deltic with domino dot headcodes was I think No 9 in 1973....I have a link to a picture somewhere. Yes headcodes were in use until 1975/76....but.... Dave
18. Mornin' all, Excellent bird day already in our Moorlands garden: 3 bullfinches, starling, sparrow, redpoll, chaffinch, blue tit, robin, collared dove, magpie, coal tit, jackdaw all featuring. Dave
19. Mornin' Dave, Many thanks for sharing your numerous excellent railway images....my modelling is much richer for having such valuable period reference sources. Best regards Dave
20. Mornin' all, Best regards to anyone ailing After looking forward to a first snowy constitutional I was cheated by sleeping in after a run of night shifts and staying up for the church fair yesterday....eyes not open until 08.30...oh well, maybe tomorrow. The CDs of my local scenery images appear to be being included with Christmas cards to friends/relatives as a lightweight gift which keeps postage costs low. New Christmas compilation of Craig Ogden and Libera created for the Bose...always good to have some new seasonal tunes to mix with the old favourites Last 2015 fund raising coach trip approaches....Christmas shopping at Webbs of Wychbold & Worcester...fully booked Church duties beckon Feathered ones provided for....fat in coconut half shells put out, bird baths de-iced and replenished....good to see 3 bullfinches in the garden this morning Enjoy what you do Dave
21. Aft'noon all, Following on from Mick Skipepsi's urging to show my local landscape images to a wider audience I exhibited a local CD set of 52 images at our church fair today as a fundraiser for the church (£4.50 of the £5.00 price going to the church). I sold 10 CD's which raised £45. Your prompting paid off Mick Rgds Dave
22. Mornin' all, Tricky drive home off of the last (night) shift till a week Monday. We have freezing temps & snow on the roads up here, as well as lying on the fields. Remembered to call for the croissants which Is instructed me on last night....surprising really...being on auto pilot on the way home. Stay safe all Dave
23. Aft'noon all, Sitting in the newly built lodge of U.S. friends some 9000ft up in 'The Rockies' in October 2010 amidst near white out conditions....but kept toasty by blazing log fires I heard the superb album 'And Winter Comes' by Enya for the first time. Our Moorland Winters aren't really comparable but it is now traditional for us to reach for the album when the first whiteness arrives here. Today was meant to be a short ride down to the butcher and back but strong sunshine stretched the return.... ....a hint of what was approaching.... ....still plenty of blue looking back towards town.... ....the last of the light.... ....our fickle Moorland climate....time to be in the house with the fire on and I'm only half way around the circuit.... ....lashed by driving, stinging sleet showers....progress seems slow... Less than 2 weeks to the Christmas tree going up....the local climate is jolting us in the direction of seasonal anticipation. Feathered ones provided for Enjoy what you do Dave
24. ....funnily enough Andy, I had the same experience in the 1980s whilst driving to & from Buxton shed to work as a BR driver. I remember thinking that those eye reflections are a bit high for a sheep and stood on the brakes. Daisy was broadside across the road and calmly regarding my approach. Snow chains were in daily use during several Winters. Dave
