  8. Evenin' all, Great to get back in from work on such a lovely afternoon with an opportunity for heading out into the scenery. Very much a 50/50 ride with half in glorious golden sunlight and half in the deepening gloom of Autumn..... Once round the back of The Roaches the sun had set and dusk was descending swiftly.... Looking north eastwards into Derbyshire the moon was shining brightly above.... 10. Mornin' all, Having a run on continental beers just now....Westmalle by Dubbel is a 7% trappist variety....nice!! Torpedo by Sierra Nevada is a tasty 7.2% IPA from the States....equally impressive! Having the Belgian bar in town as well as a decent Joules pub means that they do have some competition though. 14. .....fresh in off my last night shift, having driven through some nice lighting effects of the early sunlight on the Autumn colours, I was about to change quickly and head out on a morning circuit but low cloud/heavier mist gathered/persisted around our part of The Moorlands, making it chilly and damp with poor light. As is customary around here, waiting an hour or two changed the scenario weatherwise, I was refreshed by some sleep and a more enjoyably warm afternoon circuit with watery sunshine was the result. This was already changing again as I arrived home with the sunlight weakening and the chill of early evening descending. As you say, the weather is a significant factor around here. Don't trawl through all of my waffle Jock....the last couple of pages contain most of what is current A little modelling on the cards this morning before an afternoon trip to the centre for Is's PIC line flush. We may have friends from work coming for lunch tomorrow....Mark is having health issues of his own just now but a social meal should brighten everyone's day. Now music by The Toys....A lovers concerto Best regards to all with ailments of any kind. Feathered ones provided for Enjoy what you do Dave
  15. .....and again into the watery, bleakening Moorlands....keeping to a high level afternoon circuit to enjoy what light level there was.... Enjoy what you do Dave
  16. .....hope it goes as well for you as it has for Is, Mal....compared with a few others whom we know, she has got away lightly. Rgds Dave
  17. ....the radiotherapy may or may not be done depending on the results of a CT scan Jock but the mastectomy and pinning/plating of her femur will, possibly all by Christmas. She just wants it to be over with now. Dave
  18. Once more out to meet the golden, the yellowing, the spiralling, the spinning, the waning, the dipping, the shortening, the dimming and the filling. An afternoon circuit mainly looking out towards sunshine elsewhere.... Is is now back on par and coping well with the lingering effects of chemo 5....much conversation just now about scans & order/level of forthcoming operations, beyond the (hopefully) last chemo 6 Enjoy what you do Dave
  19. ....and how many years have you been waiting to tell that joke....it must have been covered in dust Dave
  20. Mornin' all, Damp overcast and dull in The Moorlands this morning for the short anticlockwise. Feathered ones provided for Enjoy what you do Dave
  21. ....managing friends and family in terms of how we can be approached about cancer has been and is a very real stage Jock....we've commented about this to each other often. Being open and honest to all is just the first step. Dave
  22. Mornin' Jock, The side effects are pretty much limited to tiredness. Our policy throughout has been 'open book' where we've updated everyone as to 'where she is at' as progress happens, that way the chemo or condition has never been 'the elephant in the room', conversation wise. Yes, one or two friends have found it more difficult than others but that was likely anyway. We've continually felt it to be the right approach for us. She is stoic, sensible and realistic and we share the same views on making the best of our time together....not much choice with a 22 year age gap. This approach could benefit one or two who have similar experiences, in terms of what to expect and being able to maintain a reasonably normal routine. Rgds Dave
  23. Aft'noon all, Back home with Is by 1pm....chemo done and latest haul of medication collected. Quick lunch before leaving her to sit comfortably, waiting for the effects to take hold, I then headed into school to paint more preservative onto new wood used on the early years storage shed roof and to repair a damaged handrail. A few issues to attend to with the set of shed doors which I made a few weeks back then I'll be able to work on the intended sign design/layout. Oh well....saves wondering what to do with time. Enjoy what you do Dave
  24. Mornin' all, Overcast but dry in The Moorlands just now. Trip to the centre this morning but I should be in school this afternoon doing the artwork on the new school sign....dates have slipped due to other running repairs taking priority. Feathered ones provided for Enjoy what you do Dave
