  1. Interesting photos there Craig. I like the bent hand rails around the turntable - mind you might get some wrong comments if modeled like that - e.g. 'hey mister your hand rails have got bent' or 'a bit clumsy there'.
  2. I've been helping Dave out with Bridport Town on several occasions and echo the comments made by Stu. The locos do run exceptionally well and when they don't move it is down to operator error - usually not switching the correct section over to the controller that you are using!
  3. Hi Tim, The ground levers are from Wizzard Models and etch brass - nice little items and certainly worthwhile having. I've also added a section of chequer plate across the ends of the sleepers to hide the end of the tie-bar. Hopefully the photo shows this a little clearer. I can't get the layout at the moment, as it is boxed away. I don't have any ground signals, just the lattice post - again Wizzard / MSE
  4. That does sound frustrating! But, if you hadn't had moved it, you would probably have regretted not doing it! Looking forward to seeing the photos though!
  5. Absolutely stunning. I have been following this thread and amazed at the work that has gone into the roof alone!
  6. We've used a few of these on Tawbridge and I have used these on Orchard Road - with careful painting and weathering they come up a treat. Like you write, I have also trimmed off the pins where they come through the 'timber' face.
  7. Looks like Lewis has got his mojo back, shame Jenson could only get 3rd. Looking forward to tomorrow morning!

      mozzer models

i think 3rd will be a better place to start from as the track has not been used since last year much & there is more rubber on the odd side of the grid plus a long run to turn 1

Long run to turn 1... what track are you on? lol, Generally if it is going to be a 4 stop race... i recon jenson will do well.. all be Lewis seems to of found some speed... that driving style in the race will not favour him to well.. all be Red Bull seem to be eating their tires up, saving soft tires for the race.

  8. Hi Bill, I used 'flattened' trees behind the depot on Orchard Road. With a little gentle coaxing, some of the branches can be bent back out - a light spray with water will soften a little as well.
  9. Hi Ray He means the Grassmaster! A bit off for that though, I would think! I must come round to have a look!
  10. Nice set of photos, with the new buildings in place.
  11. Hi Neil, I think that you are best following your plans - i.e. not extending the layout. I think that there is a danger that extending the layout may spoil what you have achieved. I'm not sure that you will get much benefit from DCC operated points - being a compact layout, the points are in easy reach and don't think that it is probably worth the expense. A bit different on Orchard Road, being a larger layout and allows me to operate the whole layout from anyway, but of course OR is bigger than DL. Have you got any plans / thoughts on something new?
  12. That's coming along very nicely! Will look even better when painted and everything weathered! I can almost smell the oil! I don't know how these operate, but assume that a lubricant is sprayed onto the wheels to wash away the swarf and would therefore end up everywhere. Keep up the good work.
  13. Hi Ray, Looks like you have been on getting further than you mentioned yesterday! The goods shed has come out well and nice weathering on it as well - have you been taking notes?
  14. Hi Neil, These are Cambrian kits. Don't forget that you need to buy wheels and bearings as well at the sametime as these are not supplied in the kits. They are a little tricky to put together, but do look great when finished. I hope to have a go with the Grampus later this week. Cheers
  15. Hi Martin, Thanks - I will have a look. There are some basic functions in windows, but to be honest, I copy the photos onto my laptop from my Nikon via their software (which has some editing functions, but don't use) and copy straight to the folders where I want the photos. I manipulate them from there. I need to change how I do things! No problem Dave - all helpful information. I will have a look, subject to comments above.
  16. Hi Neil, Cav has done a great job on those 47's. One question and apologies if I have missed this - how is the grease effect achieved on the buffer heads? Thanks
  17. Hi Neil, Thanks. I will get some more of these at some point - just have to remember to get the wheels at the sametime! Once I have a couple more, I am thinking about running in pairs - so will have three-links (instanters I assume) between and Spratt and Winkles at each end. I think that I will have ago at my Grampus wagons next - these need a little more weathering. Will post photos when done.
  18. Hi Martin, Thanks for your comments. I'm very pleased with the way that they have turned out! Thanks for tweaking the colours - what have you done?
  19. Very nice Dave, yes I know a little out of place, but great looking engine! Are you going to add a crew?
  20. A couple of photos showing a class 25 bringing in a short ballast train - the Mermaids have been finished today and needed a run out on Orchard Road!
  21. Well, I have finally managed to get the decals onto my two Mermaids and now weathered. The only other thing to do now is make the removable ballast loads! The photos below show loose ballast poured into the wagons for effect. I am planning to get a couple of Dogfish and then maybe a couple more Mermaids. I have a couple of Shark brake vans (one Hornby and the other Cambrian kit) which both need weathering. The wagons have been weathered using Citadel paints, plus a little weathering powder.
  22. Hi Neil, Great idea. Does look like the photo that you pm'd me! You will be able to go to town with the weathering on this one! Oil stains, fuel spills, rusting patches and peeling paint!
  23. Well, the yard offices are now finished and have attached a couple of photos.
  24. I know 'I' do, but what about everyone else!!!! Will make a change from the various Southern 00 engines! Will be interesting to see how the K1 looks at Charmouth??
