Class 37 Photos...

I've found the other 2 pics of 37114 BR Blue, Perth 1981 (poor quality, sadly) BR Large logo Blue, Kyle of Lochalsh ( not sure of year, around 1985 I think) and a painting (done by my brother for me) using the first pic as reference -

Great pic of 37174. Amazing co-incidence, I've just been looking at the forthcoming Bachmann release of 37174 in EWS colours. Here's 37114 also at North Blyth. The only 37 I managed to to get pics in three different liveries, BR Blue, Large Logo Blue and this one in EWS in 1999. Mal -
Comings and Goings at Tyne Yard

Great pics John. I also went along to this afternoon to check out the rejuvenated Tyne Yard. I was amazed at the amount of activity going on with all the Network Rail ballast trains and the bridge offers a great viewing point. Most of my pics are similar to yours, but here are a couple more. Mal -

Great pics again John. Looking at the second last pic showing 66132, the background definately looks model-like. In fact, many of the photos have a model railway look due to the overhead viewpoint. Loads of useful reference, not only weathering on the locos but also the grass and track overgrown with weeds. I'm inspired to build a mini Tyne Yard! Mal -

Great pics John. I'm amazed at how much activity there still is at TY. The place always looks empty when I pass by on the A1. It's over 30 years since I last visited and the 80s is still my favourite time period. However, I'm beginning to like the look of 66s at long last. Maybe it's time for a long overdue visit. Keep the pics coming along! Mal -
Here's another interesting livery variation. 66740 in Freightliner colours without branding. The loco had been purchased by Gbrf and is seen here working one of the last North Blyth - Lynemouth Alcan trip workings on 1st March 2012. The driver has decided to put his feet up while he waits for the Alcan Unilok to sort out loaded PCAs to return to Lynemouth. Mal

American O Scale: "Portway Terminal Short Line, MN".
Alcanman replied to F-UnitMad's topic in USA & Canadian Railroads
I recall seeing this on Roger Nicholls 'Sundown' layout. Great looking layout, Jordan -
Interesting article Ian. Perhaps with the increased demand for hops in the US may lead to more grain being transported by rail. Probably unlikely, but a nice thought I just can't get enough of US Pale Ales and IPAs. UK brewers are now brewing 'American Style Pale Ale' and IPA. Who woud have thought that 20 years ago! Mal

Great looking layout. Looks like you will have your work cut out to finish the layout in time for the exhibitions. Look forward to seeing your progress. The F- unit on your pic reminded me of this. Mal

The completed new scenic section looks great, Chris. What did you use for the small bushes along the front of the scenic board? Mal

Gary, the ESU Select range are available ''already done''. http://www.esu.eu/en/products/loksound/loksound-select/ordering-information/#c2781 Mal

Great sounds Koos. ESU have also recently offered a new recording for their EMD 645 prime mover. They are producing some excellent sounds together with their renowned smooth motor control. Mal

Nice pics, Chris. High nose GP40s look great and, of course, they are still in service with Pan Am. Here's 370 in rather more wintry weather. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1474334 and in new Pan Am paint scheme. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=3505161 Mal

They are commonly used here in the UK, particularly on exhibition layouts like North Haston, where the public like to see uncoupling without the intervention of the 'hand of God' For my home layouts I gave up on them a few years ago, mainly because of the restrictions they impose when planning a small layout. Thanks Phil. I may use Coastal DCC as I'm not too confident with decoder and speaker installations. Let us know how you your GP40-2 installation goes. I also have one with a factory fitted QSI decoder and I'm not too happy with the sounds, so a Loksound replacement might be a good option. Mal
-
Thanks guys. Do Coastal DCC offer a sound fitting service whereby you post your loco to them and they fit the sound decoder and speaker? Mal
-
Thanks Koos. Looks like the Loksound Select Aux 6 is the one I'm looking for. They appear to be in stock at Coastal DCC and the drop down menu allows a choice of prime movers. Mal

Koos. Thanks for the useful info. I'm also interested in installing a Loksound decoder and noticed that in additon to the Loksound Select Direct (board replacement decoder), there is also the Loksound Select which is now being installed by Atlas, Intermountain and Bowser in their factory fitted locos. Is the Select a plug and play decoder with pre-loaded sounds? Mal

The groundwork looks good, Chris. What make of grass mats/tufts did you use? The brown earth looks good too, how did you get the rough finish? Mal
