  1. Isn't the point of an RSU that I can use it with one hand ;-)

      N15class

Yes the RSU can be used with one hand, you still need the other 3 to hold everything in the right place!!!!

    3. martin_wynne

      martin_wynne

Only if you have a footswitch. Otherwise you need two hands. The procedure is -- 1. apply electrode to parts firmly. 2. switch on current. 3. switch off current. 4. wait a second. 5. remove electrode.

I made it with a foot switch.

Phil, I could make a list but a status isn't the place for that.

      Rich: Sure, PM me! :)

  3. Finally got the milling machine in pieces so that I can install replacement parts because no-one seems to want to touch these things. Now I have to obtain the spare parts, which after talking to the impostors should only be 2-3 weeks. Sigh.

Realised I typed I imposters rather than importers (or the iPad miscorrected my inept prodding) in the original status.

      Phil Copleston

I hadn't noticed, read it as 'importers' anyway! Sounds like you have some sorting out to do on both your lathe and mill. Actual model making some way off then :(

Yes and no. I'm also rebuilding a 10 year old computer to do a clean install of a dos based OS so that I can run legacy AutoCAD rather than buy an up to date licence at

      richbrummitt

I'm not intending to move. You haven't seen the mess I live/work/create in when upstairs! The problem is having decided I might like some sprinters one day I found out that GF had already released them and these things are, more often than not now, buy it now or risk eBay prices in the future. I do like the level of detail though, and if this is the reason there are so many diesel/electric modellers then I can understand why.

Andy, You won't have to wait that long, though I hope to have a couple of things finished especially for such a wondrous occasion.

Phil, It's different to a mogo. Whilst I haven't had to go digging in the gloat box(es) or cupboard stash I am clearing real estate previously occupied by a collection of stuff that has been started and left.

It's my carpal metacarpal joint. I presume the swelling following injection is normal and things will improve tomorrow. At the moment any thumb movement is extremely painful.

      Horsetan

Friend of mine had a similar problem - I think hers was the carpal tunnel, and she ended up having an operation.

      richbrummitt

How did that end? I am worried about the use of my right thumb. At 30 I am hoping to have a great many more years of happy pain free model making. They say it is quite probably arthritis but a bit of internet doctoring leads me to suspect de Quervain's tenosynovitis.

69843, that wouldn't be a problem per se because there were plenty of one and two plankers running around circa 1920. That said I already built a DC2 chassis which would need to find another mate.

    3. richbrummitt

      richbrummitt

No Pete, and not guilty, Andy. I wanted to pick up a few more at the AGM but the peg was empty. My shopping basket was rather small actually: 40 buffers, 30 axles of wagon wheels, 3 packs of top hat bearings, A mink C kit, and a GNR cattle wagon etch. I think the brakes actually came with the coach kits over a year ago, perhaps two.
